Ch. 1811..1815
Chapter 1811
Chapter 1811 The response came in the form of dollar bills swishing in through the gap underneath the door. Isabel's eyes glowed like someone had switched a light on, and she turned to Flint.
Flint immediately got on his knees and began collecting every bill he could get his hands on, swiftly tucking them into his pouch all the while.
Sherry watched them with great amusement.
Sylvia spectated with intrigue as well.
An endless torrent of dollar bills came sliding in underneath the door.
Flint had his hands full in no time.
Isabel crossed her arms and stood her ground.
Soon, they heard John’s voice again. “Do you know who | am now?”
Flint answered while scrambling on the floor, “I do now, | do now.”
“Will you open the door for me now?” John asked.
Isabel stood her ground. “Uncle John, I’m nothing like Flint, you won’t win me over with just money.” Flint suddenly declared boldly while still picking up one dollar bill after another, “Yes, that’s right!” John laughed heartily. “How can | get you to open the door?”
“Hmm... I'll have to think about it.” Isabel thought long and hard.
Sylvia gave her a look, hinting that it was about time to stop toying with John and let him into the room.
It had been a long time since Sherry last met Isabel and Flint. She knew that these two children were very tenacious and not to be messed with. She wagered that they were going to have their fill of fun with John before they let him in.
Sherry smiled faintly and approached Caprice.
She was the one most dear to John, so it was time for her to say something.
She looked around and finally spotted Caprice seated on the couch with Liam.
Liam was spinning a six-by-six Rubik’s cube. It looked like he was performing for her. Caprice leaned against his shoulder, the image of Liam was reflected in her pupils. She barely even noticed what was happening with her father.
Sherry made a look.
She was just about to tell her to save her father from his predicament when Isabel suddenly had a bright idea. She spoke out loud so John could hear from the other side, “Uncle John, I'll let you in if you answer just one question.”
John smirked. “Go ahead.”
Isabel cocked an eyebrow. “Who is prettier? My mommy or Aunt Sherry?”
Figures of question marke popped up on top of both Sherry’s and Sylvia’s heads.
There was a stiff silence on the other end of the door.
Isabel smirked. She knew she had put John in a tough spot. “Uncle John, why are you so quiet?” Sylvia pursed her lips.
Naturally, the answer was going to be Sherry for John. However, he should know that the answer Isabel must be expecting was her mother, Sylvia.
There was no winning for John in this situation!
Despite the unfair circumstances, Sherry was curious about what his answer would be.
She pricked up her ears and waited for an answer.
She was aware that Isabel had laid a trap for John. Still, if he dared to even insinuate that it was Sylvia who was prettier, she was going to let him have it!
The silence lingered for a while until at one point, a man’s voice rang out. “Your mother is prettier.” This voice... Odell?
Asecond later, another voice spoke, “My wife is prettier.”
The latter voice was John’s.
Isabel was flabbergasted.
Sylvia laughed.
Sherry could not help but grin at John’s mischievous display of wit.
Flint was still busy snatching dollar bills from the floor. He murmured, “Yes, that’s right!”
“You big dummy!” Isabel shot a look at Flint, then she yelled at Odell who was helping John, “Dad, | was asking Uncle John, not you!”
John bantered with her. “You never specified that | was the only one who could answer.” Isabel puffed up her cheeks in rage. “You guys are cheating, this answer doesn’t count!” John suddenly called out, “Caprice.”
Caprice suddenly turned away from Liam and stared at the door.
Chapter 1812
Caprice looked at the door that was tightly shut and muttered, “Daddy?” John answered, “It’s me, I’m outside. Would you open the door for Daddy?” “Okay.” Caprice promptly hopped off the couch and waddled to the door. Isabel and Flint stepped in front of her, cutting off her path.
Isabel gently brushed the top of Caprice’s head and tried to recruit her into their game. “Caprice, we're playing a game with Uncle John, you can’t open the door yet.”
Flint nodded. “That’s right!” Caprice tilted her head to the side in confusion. She did not understand why they were trying to play games with her father.
That was when she heard John’s muffled voice behind the door again. “Caprice, Daddy wants to go inside to see Mommy, please open the door for me.”
“Okay,” Caprice answered swiftly. She turned to Isabel and Flint. “Sister Isabel, Brother Flint, could you let me open the door for my Daddy?”
When she raised the question, they could not help but notice the earnest look in her bright, sparkly eyes. The way her adorable chubby cheeks puffed up made it nearly impossible to refuse her request.
Flint pursed his lips and looked at Isabel.
Isabel seemed very conflicted.
However, before she could decide what to do, Liam approached.
He stood behind Caprice and looked at Isabel with a calm and authoritative look in his eyes. “Let Caprice open the door.” Isabel became slightly upset.
She could understand her father helping Uncle John, but why was her brother opposing her as well?
All she wanted to do was to test Uncle John’s resolve.
She felt someone tugging her.
It was Flint who was tugging at her. He gave her a pleading look, asking her to allow Caprice to open the door. He was afraid of upsetting Liam because he knew both of them were no match for their elder brother.
Isabel took a deep breath, then she stepped aside at last.
“Thank you, Brother Liam, thank you, Sister Isabel and Brother Flint “Caprice thanked them all politely then she approached the door. She had to prop herself up on her tiptoes to reach the door handle and tug
at it with all her weight
Meanwhile, Sylvia, who had witnessed the entire interaction, cast a furtive smile in Sherry’s direction. Sherry saw everything that happened too
These children were all a bunch of darlings it was apparent now that Liam was the one in control
He had a remarkably commanding aura for someone his age
At last, John was given entry.
The door was finally unlocked and drawn open.
The tall figure of a man was immediately revealed behind the door.
He was wearing a tailored suit of the finest quality that accentuated his figure and his height.
The white shirt he wore underneath the suit complemented his fair complexion perfectly. He smiled gently. He held a bouquet in his hand. The moment the door opened, he looked past Caprice, Liam, and the other children and immediately located Sherry with pinpoint accuracy.
He flashed a charming smile in her direction.
Sherry greeted him with a shy smile.
With that, he walked up to her and presented her with the bouquet.
Sherry took the wonderful bouquet and admired its beauty. Before she could rise, she felt a pair of large, strong arms wrapped around her waist and lifted her off the ground.
John moved with purpose. He immediately marched toward the door as if afraid someone would bar the door again. Sylvia was aghast.
The children were just as shocked.
Ignored by her father, Caprice pouted and complained, “Why didn’t Daddy wait for me?”
Liam comforted her. “Uncle John is in a rush to marry your mommy, he didn’t mean to ignore you.”
Caprice felt slightly better, though the disappointment still showed on her face.
Liam consoled her. “Come, let’s go with them.”
With that, he took her hand.
Caprice smiled happily. “Okay!” The pair walked out together.
Chapter 1813
After they went outside, Isabel and Flint exchanged a curious look.
“Why does Liam care so much about fatty Caprice?” Isabel was perplexed.
Flint stroked his chin, deep in thought. He speculated. “Maybe because Caprice looks cuter than us.” Isabel pouted.
In school, she was the one who bossed all of her classmates. Every single one would address her respectfully as ‘big sister. With this image in mind, she told herself that she could not possibly be bothered by the fact that Caprice was cuter than her.
However, Caprice was not only cute, but she was also known to be well-behaved.
Meanwhile, Isabel and Flint always got into trouble. She suspected this was why Liam cared about Caprice. It was because she was more pleasant to be around.
Isabel grumbled and decided that she could not care less. She tucked her hands in her pockets and walked outside. Flint followed behind her like a shadow.
Sylvia was the last to step outside. After making sure that all the children had gone outside, she smiled and threw a glance at Odell who had been standing outside waiting for her.
Odell smiled, then he took her hands and led her downstairs. The wedding was held at one of Stockton’s properties.
They had invited most of their closest relatives and friends. The ceremony itself was meant to be a low- profile event. Despite that, great attention was paid to sprucing up the villa for the occasion.
The decoration in the villa was the least of it.
On the way to the villa, Sherry noticed countless white ribbons and decorations tied to the streetlights along the road; it looked like they were going to venture into a dreamland. As they drew closer to the villa, she saw red carpets paved along the road. It was a very ceremonious and grand display.
Judging by the gaudy flair, she figured that it was Queenie who had architectured it. She must have put a lot of heart into it.
Sherry smiled ear to ear, she was touched by the gesture.
John sat next to her and held her hand tightly. His eyes were fixed on her the entire time.
He smiled when he observed how happy Sherry looked.
After a while, the car drove through the main gate.
The gate was wide open.
The road leading into the villa was paved with red carpets as well.
The servants and bodyguards working in the villa stood on both sides of the road. They had been waiting for a while
As soon as Sherry stepped out of the car with John, everybody scattered baskets full of rose petals into the air and let them flutter about.
The shower of rose petals did not stop until Sherry and John walked into the garden where the wedding. ceremony would be held.
The guests had already arrived and were all gathered in the garden waiting for the soon-to-be-wed couple. The moment they noticed Sherry and John, they all rose and turned to admire the beautiful, dreamy couple. There were no more than fifty guests combined.
Alot of them were relatives and friends of the Stocktons, and Sherry recognized most of them.
Lisa showed up as well. She was standing next to Madam Stockton and smiled warmly at Sherry.
Sherry smiled back at her. She continued walking down the aisle with John, toward the stage that had
been set up.
The host was already waiting for them on stage.
The wedding ceremony commenced after the main characters had arrived.
The ceremony progressed smoothly.
They said their vows to each other, then exchanged wedding rings.
Queenie and Isabel stirred the crowd into a cheery and rowdy mood. They made everyone chant for the couple to kiss on stage. Sherry and John obliged. They kissed until Sherry lightly pinched John’s waist to signal him to stop.
Queenie and Isabel laughed heartily, they were having the time of their lives.
Caprice grinned and giggled.
Sherry gave John a shy look.
Unexpectedly, he suddenly grabbed her waist again and pulled her closer to him. Their second kiss lasted longer than the first and with more passion.
“Oooh!”
There were a lot of oohs and ahhs amid the crowd.
Sherry was not expecting this, and her cheeks flushed red.
John reluctantly let go after he had enough.
Before Sherry could get a word in, he propped his chin on her shoulder and whispered in her ears, “Sherry,
now that everyone knows that you're my wife, please don’t ever leave me again.”
Chapter 1814
Sherry felt a restlessness rising in her chest. Without realizing it, her lips curled into a smile.
She said stoutly, “l may be married to you, but it doesn’t mean | have to tolerate your nonsense forever. If you ever dare to-” “| wouldn’t dare. Before she could finish, John hugged her tightly and assured her. “I wouldn’t ever dare, my dear wife,” Sherry smiled coyly. “That’s a smart man.”
John chuckled heartily before letting her go.
Below the stage, everyone beheld the loving couple with lovestruck eyes.
Madam Stockton, Lisa, and the others formed shy smiles.
Sylvia laughed along with Odell, the two held each other tenderly.
Meanwhile, Isabel and Queenie were doubled over with laughter.
Liam had covered Caprice’s eyes, but the girl was still grinning from ear to ear.
When Sherry remembered that there were so many people staring at her, she wanted to burrow herself into a hole. She wanted to jump off the stage and flee the scene.
She blushed and turned to John. John smiled and gently patted her head, then he looked at the host and gave a signal.
The host immediately stepped forward and distracted the crowd. His booming voice was very effective at drawing the attention of the rowdy crowd.
He announced gladly, “And this wraps up the wedding ceremony! | wish the bride and groom a happy life. forever and ever!” Astanding ovation followed.
The host invited everyone present to join the newlywed couple on stage for a group picture, then he excused himself from the stage
The first ones up on the stage were Madam Stockton, Queenie, as well as Caprice. They took a wonderful family picture together.
After that, all of the relatives and friends present were invited on stage for a group picture.
Sherry excitedly invited Lisa on stage.
Lisa had a plane to catch. After taking the picture, she congratulated Sherry before taking her leave. Meanwhile, Madam Stockton led all the friends and relatives of the family to the banquet hall for a feast
Sherry suddenly turned to Sylvia and Odell, she exclaimed brightly, “Syl, Odell, come on and bring your kids up here so we can all take a picture!”
Sylvia smiled and obliged She stepped onto the stage with Odell Isabel, Flint, and Liarn joined them as well
Queenie, who was in the middle of escorting the guests to the banquet hall with Madam Stockton, caught what was happening on stage from her peripheral vision. She immediately bound toward the stage as if
her life depended on it.
Sherry pulled Sylvia closer to her.
Odell stood with John, the two men looked dashing together.
Liam stood on the other side of Odell
Caprice Flint, Isabel, and Queenie crouched in front.
The photographer framed the picture carefully. Before taking the shot, he noticed the boy standing next to Odell and gestured at the boy. “Young man, smile for the camera!”
Everyone turned to look at Liam.
Liam hardly wore any expression on his face as his default expression had always been very stoic.
Sylvia asked him to smile.
Sherry knew this was merely Liam being himself and wanted to ask the photographer to let the boy be. Before she could inform the photographer, Caprice suddenly spoke up, “Brother Liam, smile for the camera!” She looked up at Liam with an eager glow in her eyes.
“Alright,” Liam said softly and traced a smile.
His smile was subtle and very reserved, but it was a very fitting look for him. A warm glow appeared in his eyes and he looked more handsome than usual.
Sherry and Sylvia exchanged a smile with each other.
The photographer drew their attention. “Alright everyone, look at the camera please.” Sherry and Sylvia smiled and faced the camera.
Both John and Odell smiled at the camera as well.
Asoft smile hung on Liam’s lips as he readied himself for the shot.
Chapter 1815
Positioned in front were Caprice, Isabel, Flint, and Queenie. The four of them had no trouble smiling at all as they flashed their rows of white teeth with pride.

The photographer captured the beautiful scene, a memory to be cherished forever.
Time flew.
Sixteen years later.
Westchester.
At a nightclub in a college town.
Caprice held a bottle of beer and took occasional sips from it. She wore a neat red dress that accentuated her waistline, her natural locks of curly hair were very eye-catching.
Even though she was seated in a remote corner, it did not dissuade flocks of men from coming up to her to strike up a conversation.
She did not entertain any of them.
Some of the men had a foul temper but knew better than to voice their frustrations since Caprice was with her friends. They retreated, hanging their heads low in defeat.
Three of Caprice’s housemates came drinking with her.
They were the ones who did her makeup for her.
Today was her birthday, so they decided to come here for a celebration.
Celebrating her birthday was the primary objective. The secondary objective was to find a man for her.
“Caprice, what's the matter with you? Some of them were pretty handsome, why wouldn’t you at least try to talk to them?” the short-haired Lana asked, her voice tinged with curiosity.
“Yeah, if | didn’t have a boyfriend already, I'd have chosen one of them easily. Aren’t you interested at all?” Freya was the one with an hourglass figure. She was baffled by Caprice’s lack of interest.
Freya suddenly exclaimed dramatically, “Caprice, you're not into girls, are you?”
Immediately after raising the question, both she and Lana shrunk away from Caprice.
As if they were afraid that Caprice would confess her affection for them.
Caprice took another sip of beer and looked sullen. It did not seem like she was in the mood for banter. Freya and Lana were very puzzled. They darted looks at Piper who was sitting on the other side of Caprice.
Piper and Caprice had known each other for more than a decade. They both hailed from Glanchester and came to Westchester University to study together. They pretty much grew up together.
Piper sighed and assured them. “She’s straight, you two are safe.”
“Then why isn’t she looking for a boyfriend?” Lana asked in a puzzled tone.
Piper glanced at Caprice and said, “She doesn’t want to, she must've someone on her mind already.” However, it seemed to her that this certain someone did not reciprocate her feelings.
Freya and Lana exchanged a look, then they asked Piper, “Who's this mysterious man?”
Caprice returned from her state of trance and frowned irritably.
Piper immediately deflected. “I don’t know either, | was just guessing.” She had promised Caprice not to spill her secret.
Although Freya and Lana were good friends, they were not to be trusted with keeping secrets. If they knew that Caprice had been secretly in love with the eldest son of her parent's friends, it might complicate situations going forward.
Freya and Lana bought Piper’s lie, and they turned their attention back to Caprice.
Freya probed, “Caprice, who is it? Just between me and you, | know a lot of people in Westchester. Just say the name of this mysterious man and | promise you I’ll do everything in my power to set you two up together!”
Lana chimed in. “That's right, it doesn’t even matter if he has a girlfriend, we can fix that for you!”
Caprice made a look, then she craned the bottle of beer at a vertical degree and finished the whole thing. in one smooth motion. Freya and Lana were speechless.
Piper was just as baffled.
Caprice was usually well-behaved and reserved. This was the first time they had ever seen her downing beers like this.
Freya was immediately alarmed and hurriedly stopped Caprice. “Caprice, I’m so sorry if we said something that upset you. Look, if you’re sad you can tell us! Don’t drink yourself to death.”
“That’s right, Caprice, stop drinking please “Lana tried to help as well.
It seemed like Caprice had filtered out their voices completely. As soon as she finished the first bottle, she reached for another one
