Chapter 2111

It was Roland.

Surprised, Isabel answered the phone immediately and asked, "Where are you?"

"I'm in Southboro," Roland answered with a hoarse voice, seemingly hesitating with the answer. Isabel's chest tightened. "When did you go back?"

"| reached Southboro yesterday morning."

"Why didn't you tell me?"

He did not say a word.

Isabel ran out of patience. She asked, "Why did you go back to Southboro?"

The man still did not answer.

Isabel glanced at the screen of her phone. The call was still connected, Roland did not hang up on her. She snorted. "Is it because of my dad?”

"It's not about Mr. Carter, it's my own decision," he said.

His own decision?

How could he say something like this to her in such a calm manner?

Her eyes teared up. She raised her hand to rub her eyes and then asked, "So, are you breaking up with me?" "Isabel, | think we have to be separated for a while.”

"Separated for a while? What does that mean?"

"| can’t tell you yet."

“Roland, if you don't tell me, you're breaking up with me."

"Isabel, no. I’m not..."

"No? Let me ask you. How long is 'a while’? A week? Two weeks? A month? Two months? Or half a year?” Roland answered after a momentary silence, "| don't know, but I'll try my best to come back to you."

Isabel's brows furrowed. "You don't know? So does it mean | have to wait for you if you leave for one year, two years, or even five to ten years?”

"Isabel, it won't take that long."

"What if it's that long?"

Roland went silent once more. "If it really takes me that long and | still haven’t come back to you, then...forget about me." Isabel's chest tightened again like a giant hand clenched onto her heart.

Her tears burst out of her eyes. She raised her voice and scolded, "Roland, you jerk! I'll forget about you now!"

She hung up right after she yelled on the phone.

Then, she blacklisted his number and blocked all his texts.

After blacklisting Roland completely, her phone screen was covered with her tears.

She cried behind her hands for a while before she went to wash her face. She called Carla and went to a nearby barbeque restaurant.

She ordered what she liked, got two glasses of beer, and ate herself away.

Carla sighed as she watched her friend chew down the food and chug down the bear with teary eyes.

Angela, who was hiding in the corner, recorded it on her phone.

Back in Westchester, Isabella had just ended a business event and returned to her car.

Her phone buzzed as soon as she got inside. She picked it up and saw a video from Angela.

In the video was Isabel, who she had not seen for a while.

She went through the video.

Isabel ate barbeque and drank beer with her assistant but only she was eating and she drank more than she ate.

The video was taken from a distance. Isabella did not see Isabel's expression but judging by how fast Isabel drank, she looked depressed.

Angela then sent her another text, "Isabella, | saw Isabel's eyes and she looked like she's been crying. Two weeks ago, she was with her boyfriend at this hour, but her boyfriend is nowhere to be seen now. | think she just broke up with her boyfriend."

Isabella's eyes glinted. "I got it. Continue to observe. Inform me right away if there's anything."

 

Chapter 2112

Carla secretly gave Amanda a call. Therefore, when Isabel almost threw up from all the drinking, Amanda appeared behind her. She snatched the bottle of beer and tossed it away.

Before Isabel could react, she grabbed her arm and bellowed, "Isabel, you're coming with me."

Isabel had lost consciousness. She only remembered Roland ditched her.

He left Westchester without saying anything. Everyone knew except her.

Yet the jerk tried to fool her by saying they should be separated for a while and would come back to her soon.

He had either taken Isabel as a fool or believed she could not handle the shock of breaking up, hence telling her he wanted to be separated for a while to let her take it in easily.

Isabel knew the importance of letting go and she would not care if he broke up with her. There were many other men in this world and there must be someone better than him. However, she could not stop her heart from hurting.

Isabel tried to reach for the bottle of beer but missed it.

She then realized she was being dragged away from the restaurant by Amanda and Carla. The windy breeze blew toward her face. She shivered.

She recalled the joy of waiting for Roland earlier but what she got in return was him leaving Westchester and breaking up with her.

Her tears burst and she broke down crying.

Both Amanda and Carla were speechless.

They looked around before they hastened their steps and carried Isabel toward the hotel.

Fortunately, Isabel was not that heavy and they were able to bring her back to the hotel room without any problem.

Amanda told Carla to get a glass of warm water while she sat down on the couch with Isabel. She consoled her." Isabel, it's okay. It’s going to be okay."

Isabel collapsed on the couch like a lifeless doll.

She cried along the way and the windy breeze cleared up her mind a bit.

Even though her heart still hurt, she regained control over her emotions.

She wiped her tears and sipped the warm water Carla brought her.

She then said to them, "Carla, Amanda, you guys should get some rest. Thank you." Amanda and Carla did not say anything but they were worried about her.

Isabel pursed her lips. "I want to be alone."

Amanda sighed. "Fine. I'm just next door. Call me if you need anything.”

Carla echoed. "Yeah. You can call me too."

They then left the room, leaving Isabel alone on the couch.

The moment the door closed, Isabel buried her face behind her hands and broke down in tears once more.

Isabel had no idea when she fell asleep. When she opened her eyes, it was already morning.

Her eyes were bloodshot and swollen from all the crying and her throat hurt. Her head even fell heavy as if her soul left her body. After she came out from the toilet and wanted to go to bed, Amanda and Carla came over.

Amanda brought a bag and Carla had two pieces of luggage with her.

Isabel did not notice their luggage. She closed her eyes and said, "I don't want to go on set today. Amanda, can you tell the director I'm not feeling well? | want the day off."

She had to be in tip-top condition for the shoot, so she was in no shape to be in front of the camera.

Amanda pursed her lips. Tve asked for two days off for you."

 

Chapter 2113

Carla added, "Isabel, there are a lot of fun places in Glanchester. Amanda is bringing us on a tour around the city." Isabel's eyes remained closed. "I don't want to go. You guys go have fun.”

She was not in the mood for a vacation, she just wanted to lie down and do nothing.

"Isabel, even if you stay here all day, Roland isn’t coming back," Amanda said.

Isabel opened her eyes and sat up straight. With displeasure, she said, "I'm not hoping for him to come back!"

She just wanted to lie down!

Amanda crossed her arms and raised a brow. "If that's what you're thinking, then you should get up and follow us now." Isabel frowned. "Provocation?"

Amanda chuckled. "Indeed. If you don't come with us, you’re hoping for him to come back to you."

Annoyed, Isabel mustered her strength and jumped to her feet. She bellowed, "Alright! You ask for it! Let's go!"

She washed her face, changed into some new clothes, and followed Amanda and Carla out of the hotel.

Isabel had visited most of the fun places in Glanchester but she never got tired of them.

Besides, Glanchester had a magnificent view.

In addition to Amanda and Carla's company, taking care of her patiently, it would be difficult for Isabel to not feel relaxed. She was surprised to see such a caring and patient side of Amanda, who was a well-known manager for celebrities. Amanda must be afraid that Isabel would feel terrible after the break-up.

They went boating at a lake, hiking, gliding, and even visited a spring.

Other than sleeping, the three of them spent the entire day visiting attraction after attraction.

Although tired, it managed to distract Isabel from thinking about why Roland left her. She did not have the time to feel sad either. Two days went by in the blink of an eye.

On the third morning, Amanda left Isabel a few encouraging words before she left Glanchester.

Isabel readjusted her mood and returned to the hotel with Carla.

When she walked past the parking lot, she thought of the scenes where Roland came to see her, but she was able to prevent herself from delving deeper.

Amanda and Carla spent two days with her. Even if she disregarded her own emotions, she could not let the two of them down. She had to regroup and concentrate on the shoot.

"Isabel, you have a scene to shoot in the afternoon. Do you want another half-day off? | can tell the director," Carla asked. Isabel inhaled deeply and said, "It's okay. I'm fine now."

Carla smiled brightly since Isabel was emotionally better now. "Alright."

Isabel and Carla went into the hotel to prepare for the shoot later in the afternoon. Then, Angela came out from the corner.

She watched as Isabel headed to the elevator and she immediately texted Isabella. "Isabella, Isabel's boyfriend ditched her."

Isabella replied, "How can you be so sure?”

"Isabel was drunk two days ago and her manager and assistant brought her back to the hotel. She asked for two days off after that and only came back now. She’s always serious about acting, so if there's nothing serious, she wouldn't ask for days off. | heard from someone that the director mentioned something about her breaking up with her boyfriend."

Back at Westchester, after Isabella received the text from Angela, her lips curled.

She was amused and delighted when she pictured the scene where Isabel cried and drank because she broke up with her boyfriend.

On second thought, Isabella texted Clarice, "Ms. Houston, | have news regarding Isabel, | wonder if you're interested to find out." A few minutes later, Clarice answered, "What?"

Isabella tapped on her phone and texted, "| heard from my friend that Isabel broke up with his boyfriend."

 

Chapter 2114

Clarice bolted up when she heard the news.

Decker was at his desk further away from her. He was shocked by her sudden reaction and he asked, "Clarice, what happened?" Clarice's eyes fluttered and smiled, "I-It's nothing."

Decker had a hint of doubt but he did not linger on the topic. He quickly returned to his work.

Clarice breathed a sigh of relief when she noticed Decker was not overly bothered.

She sat back down and replied to Isabella, "Are you sure about this?”

"| heard from my friend that Isabel got drunk alone last Friday night and her manager and assistant came to pick her up. She cried on the way back and took two days off from work. She only came back to the shoot today. | heard from a crew member that Isabel took days off because she broke up with her boyfriend."

Isabella then sent Clarice two video clips. One was Isabel drinking at the restaurant and the other was Isabel being dragged away by Amanda and Carla. Roland ditched her?

However, Roland used his influence at the company just to help her a while back and the two of them looked stable together. Why the sudden break-up?

Had Roland gotten tired of her?

Thinking about how Isabel treated her with disrespect a while back and the break-up, Clarice grinned scornfully. She put her phone down.

Roland and Isabel's break up did not affect her as long as it had no impact on her and Decker’s relationship. However, if Roland broke up with Isabel, it would mean he would not help her again. Knowing that, Clarice's eyes narrowed and glinted viciously.

No one in the world could disrespect her. She had to teach Isabel a lesson just so she could vent her grievance because Roland helped Isabel just to put her in a difficult situation.

While she was caught up with the news, she did not notice Decker was looking at her.

Later that night, Clarice was fast asleep beside Decker on the bed.

Decker pulled her hand away from his waist and sneakily grabbed her phone from her side of the bed. He skillfully unlocked it and went on her WhatsApp. He spotted the chat with Isabella.

His eyes narrowed. He tapped into the chat window and went through the history.

Then, he tapped on the video and saw Isabel crying. His heart clenched.

Awhile later, his lips curled wickedly.

Did she break up with Roland? Why?

Decker pondered.

He heard from a friend that Roland left Carter Corporation and it was most probably because of what he said at the dinner. In addition, he had been painting Roland a dirty image in front of the executives of the company, hence Roland was thrown out of the company.

Was it the reason why he broke up with Isabel?

Decker did not get an answer to his question. He believed Isabel was not a snobby person and if she broke up with Roland because of him leaving the company, she would not have cried so terribly.

It seemed like Roland ditched her, but why?

Regardless, it was not the point he should be focusing on. The important thing would be now that Roland was thrown out of the company, there would be no more obstacles or threats for him.

He could also try to get Isabel back to his side.

As though a soulless and emotionless machine, Isabel concentrated on her work. She did nothing but shooting recently. She shot in the morning, afternoon, and even at night. She did not complain about the exhaustion at all.

The director told her to rest but she refused.

A hectic week went by.

Legend of the Goddess was at the end of its shooting schedule and there were only a few more scenes left to shoot. Isabel even celebrated several of her co-stars completing their scenes.

They even had dinner at night.

 

Chapter 2115

Chapter 2115 After dinner, some of them returned to the hotel, and some of them took a ride home. Isabel, the director, and some of the crew members returned to the hotel.

The director asked, "It's the weekend. Do you guys want to shoot over the weekend, or take two days off, and we can continue on Monday?"

The remaining actors looked at each other.

The male lead said, "I'm okay with anything. It’s your call, director."

The others echoed in agreement.

The director then looked at Isabel. "Isabel, what about you?"

Isabel said without a second thought, "I don’t want to take days off either."

Only when working, she would not think of Roland, therefore she could not stop.

The director smiled. "Alright. We'll continue shooting then."

Isabel said good night to her co-stars and the director before she returned to her room.

She spent the entire day shooting, and it was tiring. She just wanted to have a bath and rest.

It was then she received a call from Amanda.

Amanda sounded worried on the phone. "Isabel, did you see the comments online?"

Isabel asked curiously, "What comments? Anything to do with me?"

Amanda hummed a reply and then said, "Listen to me, don't go online for the next two days. I'll deal with it." Isabel assumed it was not something serious, so she was not overly bothered. "Alright. Thank you, Amanda.” "Your well-being is my biggest assurance. Alright, | have to go now."

Amanda hung up the phone.

Isabel put the phone away.

Even though she was curious about what was happening online, she was not in the mood to find out. She went to take a bath. When she came out, she saw several texts from her mother, Flint, and even Liam, plus a missed call from her father. They were all worried about her.

"Isabel, where are you? Why didn't you pick up my call?” Sylvia texted her.

"Sis, are you alright?" From Flint.

"Call me when you see this." From Liam.

"Issy, reply to my message." From Odell.

Isabel was confused.

Her family sounded like something terrible happened to her.

She tapped on the family WhatsApp group and sent a voice message, "| was taking a bath and | saw your texts. What is it?” Less than a minute later, Flint replied, "Dad, Mom, look! | know Issy is going to be fine! | knew it!"

Isabel was more confused than before.

She suddenly thought of Amanda's call and asked, "Did you guys see any news about me online?”

Flint answered, "Yeah, we saw you being dragged away from the restaurant and cried like a crazy woman."

Isabel was speechless. She gulped and felt annoyed, but not exactly angry. The annoyance soon disappeared.

Sylvia texted her, "Issy, are you still shooting at Glanchester?"

Isabel answered, ‘Yeah. I'm still here."

Caprice, who was also in the group, texted, "Isabel, Liam and | are going to Glanchester tomorrow. We'll bring the baby over to visit you.”

Isabel knew her family was worried about her, so she said with a smile, "It's okay, Caprice. | have to work over the weekend. The shoot will wrap in a few days, so I'll come find

you when I'm done."
