Never Late, Never Away Chapter 3031

What Is Going On

Long ago, when Larry told her Abelyn didn’t have good intentions, she believed Larry’s words wholeheartedly. But given that Abelyn hadn’t caused any harm after such a long time, she began to have her doubts.

“Do you have anything to do with this?” Larry bellowed, unable to contain his anger.

“No!” Abelyn asserted.

Her instantaneous reply makes it even more suspicious. With a frustrated expression, Larry turned to look out the window with his eyes squinted.

Her response had told him what he needed to know. Why did she commit such a vile act against one of her best friends?

Thump!

Larry slammed his fist into the wall. The next moment, blood started oozing out of his fingers, giving Jessica a shock.

“Larry! What are you doing!” She hurried over and grabbed his sleeve.

“Alright now, let’s put this aside for the moment. We’ll continue when Joan is awake,” she remarked anxiously while giving Larry a gentle nudge.

“Caspian!” Suddenly an insidious voice rang out, giving everyone a headache. As for Jessica, she was suddenly filled with dread.

Of all times, why does this damned woman have to cause trouble now? Clenching his fists, Caspian tried to calm himself down to face the impending problem.

“Caspian, I feel terrible,” Lisa exclaimed as she approached, pretending to be in pain.

Since you’re not feeling well, you should see the doctor. What the point in looking for me? Caspian took a deep breath with his eyes filled with disdain.

“You should see the doctor. I can’t do anything to help you,” Caspian snapped in an indifferent tone.

Given how resolute his answer is, does it mean that he is going to abandon me just like that? As panic began to overwhelm her, Lisa gave Caspian a frustrated look.

No, I must not let him out of my hands. Otherwise, my child will not have a father.

In truth, the child’s father had long absconded.

“Caspian, I beg you. Given that I am carrying your child, take me to the doctor, alright?” she pleaded, tugging Caspian’s sleeve.

What does that mean? The child isn’t even mine. Why should I be responsible? Furthermore, I have already been lied to once and won’t be deceived again. Does she really take me for a fool by trying to lie to me again?

“Firstly, the child isn’t mine. Secondly, you have already deceived me once and I won’t be fooled again,” Caspian declared resolutely.

Given how clearly he has analyzed the situation, it seems he isn’t an idiot! Snorting, Lisa’s eyes were filled with disdain.

It was just a pity that everything was too late. After being fooled once, Caspian wasn’t going to be deceived a second time.

“You should go and never contact me again. Both of us have nothing to do with each other,” Caspian declared before turning his face away to ignore her.

It’s going to be impossible to get rid of me!

“Caspian, how can you abandon your child just by listening to a one-sided story? The woman that you spoke of wasn’t there. How then did she know what was going on inside?” Lisa explained while wiping the tears off her eyes.

What? The lady that I spoke to wasn’t from the same broth*l as Lisa? Caspian began to grow wary. It was she who told me Lisa had someone else. And now, Lisa is claiming otherwise?

What’s really going on? Caspian was confused.

Suddenly, Lisa dropped to her knees in front of Jessica and pleaded with tears in her eyes, “Jessica, I beg of you, give your blessing to Caspian and me alright? I really love him and can’t survive without him. Besides, what will happen to the child?”

Never Late, Never Away Chapter 3032

Something Worth Pondering About

Meanwhile, everyone was shocked at the turn of events. No one expected Lisa to come up with such a tactic.

Suddenly, Jessica felt awkward.

“Whatever that’s going on between you and Caspian has nothing to do with me.” Just as she spoke, she shoved Lisa away and walked into the ward.

When she saw Joan lying on the bed, she couldn’t help but feel depressed at how ironic things were. After all, both she and Joan were going through the same experience.

“Is that woman here again?” Suddenly, Joan gradually opened her eyes. Just when Jessica was about to inform the rest that Joan was awake, Joan grabbed onto her arm.

“Don’t move. Let them continue arguing,” Joan suggested weakly.

Jessica sympathized with how exhausted Joan looked.

Jessica pushed aside the fringes on Joan’s forehead as she asked with concern, “Joan, what happened? How did you get yourself kidnapped?”

Indeed, how did it happen? Joan closed her eyes gradually as tears flowed down her cheeks. The moment she recalled the voice she heard in the car, she was overwhelmed with disappointment.

When Jessica realized that Joan seemed to know the truth. She was all ears and waited eagerly for what Joan was about to say next. However, before Joan could say another word, she fell asleep instead.

“Why isn’t she awake yet?” Larry murmured anxiously.

“Why don’t all of you go back first while I watch over her here,” Jessica suggested calmly.

Despite what she said, Larry felt that it was his responsibility as Joan’s boyfriend to watch over her.

He quickly walked up to Jessica and patted her on the shoulder. “You should head home first. After shopping for the whole day, you must be tired. I’ll be fine by myself.”

As one was the woman he loved and the other was his godsister, he didn’t want them to be exposed to any danger.

“Larry, why don’t I stay?” Caspian suggested loudly.

“Caspian, are you really abandoning me?” Lisa asked coquettishly while pouting her lips.

Larry looked up and glared at both of them coldly. He snapped, “Why don’t you resolve your problems first.”

The next moment, Caspian’s expression changed drastically.

Meanwhile, Abelyn was staring at Joan, worried that she would wake up anytime.

“What’s wrong? Why are your hands so cold?” Dustin asked softly while holding Abelyn’s hands.

Other than responding with an awkward smile, Abelyn remained silent. After all, she was worried that she would expose herself by saying too much.

At the same time, Larry shot Abelyn a suspicious glance.

After a long while, Joan still hadn’t woken up. Dustin then took his leave together with Abelyn. On their way out, Abelyn even turned around to give Joan a final look.

“Hey, Larry, what happened to you just now? Why did you flare your temper at Abelyn for no reason?” Jessica asked, patting him on his arm.

“I suspect that she is behind Joan’s kidnapping,” Larry revealed.

There was no need to him to hide anything from Jessica. He trusted her and was certain that she trusted him too.

He was right to believe in her as Jessica would believe him. It was just that she couldn’t think of a motive for Abelyn to harm Joan.

“Whatever the reason is, I think even Joan herself doesn’t know,” he added as he continued watching Joan.

That’s right. Why does Abelyn want to harm Joan? That was something worth pondering about.

“Did any conflicts happen between the three of you before?” Larry asked, staring at Jessica.

Never Late, Never Away Chapter 3033

How Dare She

Tilting her head, Jessica looked out the window. Her eyes were squinted as she fell deep into thought.

The three of us always enjoyed our time together and cared for each other. Even if there were any conflicts, Joan isn’t the kind of person to cause any trouble.

That’s not right. Joan and Abelyn never had any conflicts before. Unless…

Suddenly, Jessica’s eyes lit up.

“Can Dustin be the reason?” She suddenly recalled how Dustin had always liked Joan.

Larry raised his gaze at her and shook his head, indicating that he didn’t agree with her supposition.

No, Dustin is a responsible man. Since he has decided to be with Abelyn, he will definitely give her a sufficient sense of security. Hence, there’s no way he still harbors any feelings for Joan.

If not Dustin? What else can it be? Jessica bit her nails as she continued to rack her brains.

“Hack…” Joan grunted all of a sudden.

Actually, she had heard everything they discussed. Larry was right. Even she didn’t know why Abelyn wanted to hurt her.

“Joan, you’re awake. Are you feeling alright? Let me get the doctor.” Just as he spoke, Larry prepared to leave the ward.

“There’s no need for that,” Joan replied at once.

“I’m just a little hungry,” she added bashfully.

The next moment, both Larry and Jessica burst into laughter. Given that she was thinking about food, it meant that she was fine after all.

After chatting a while longer, Larry left the ward to buy some food for Joan.

“Joan, you’re finally awake. Did you know that you gave Larry a huge fright?” Jessica explained with a smile, holding Joan’s hand.

“I heard everything both of you said just now. Actually, I have no idea why Abelyn wants to harm me too,” Joan remarked softly with her head lowered.

At that moment, Jessica was stunned.

After all, they were suspecting during their earlier discussion.

Although Larry and her suspected Abelyn to be the mastermind behind the kidnap, they couldn’t be truly certain if it was her. However, judging by Joan’s reaction, she had all but verified that Abelyn was indeed guilty.

It appears that Abelyn really is the perpetrator. A cold glint flashed in Jessica’s eye as anger built up within her.

“Joan, did anything happen between the two of you? It’s time to clear the air. Or else, there will only be more trouble ahead of us. Also, do you have any proof? We need to rely on the law to protect our own interests and safety.”

Jessica suddenly became serious.

Joan clearly understood that Jessica was looking out for her. However, she felt the need to keep the matter under wraps.

After all, Abelyn and her used to be best friends. She even risked her life to save her once. However, little did she know that the incident was the source of Abelyn’s hatred toward her.

“Alright, let’s just leave it at that. Keep this a secret and pretend as if nothing happened,” Joan muttered softly.

How can I pretend that nothing has happened? This isn’t something trivial like losing one’s purse. We’re talking about losing one’s life. Jessica sprang to her feet with a fearsome expression on her face. No, I will not rest until I have sought justice for Joan.

“Who does Abelyn think she is? How dare she…”

“I’m back! Joan, I got you your favorite meatloaf,” Larry announced as he entered.

“Hurray! That’s my favorite food indeed! I’m going to eat now, so let’s just talk later,” Joan remarked on purpose, worried that Larry would hear what Jessica was about to say.

Sensing Joan’s intention, Jessica kept quiet. She then took a seat on the sofa with a sullen expression.

After receiving the food, Joan took a bite and declared with a smile, “Mmm, this is delicious as always.”

Never Late, Never Away Chapter 3034

Is That All You Want

“Abelyn, why did you harm Joan?” Jessica asked coldly, staring at her. However, Abelyn didn’t seem to care.

How dare you accuse me of harming Joan? You don’t have any evidence! In fact, your raging expression is simply laughable.

After giving her the side-eye, Abelyn retorted in displeasure, “Jessica, don’t you dare spout nonsense. What did I do? Besides, Joan is innocent and kind. Why would I even want to harm her?”

Abelyn spoke as if she cared for Joan.

How dare you not admit to your crime after committing it? Fine. You’d better hope that I don’t find any evidence. Or else, I’ll personally drag you to the police station.

Clenching her fist, a frosty glint flashed in Jessica’s eyes. What a sly woman you are!

“If there’s nothing else, I’m leaving now.” With that, Abelyn left.

“Where are you going? Aren’t we going to see Joan?” Jessica called out to her. Doesn’t she feel guilty at all? She is no longer the Abelyn I know.

The Abelyn I know used to be reasonable and understanding. Furthermore, she was easy to talk to. However, since when has she become so cruel and conniving? What changed her?

Jessica glared angrily at Abelyn.

“I have just visited her and she looks fine. Besides, I’ve many things to attend to, so I’ll take my leave first.” With that, Abelyn walked off.

Watching her go, Jessica couldn’t help but feel depressed. After all, they were best friends once. But now, they were all behaving like strangers to each other. At that moment, she realized that friends do change after all.

Lowering her head, she couldn’t help but sigh.

It wasn’t too long ago that the three of them did everything together. They drank, watched movies, shopped, and just enjoyed each other’s company. But now, Abelyn had changed and no longer went out with them.

Is it because of Dustin? I can’t think of anything else.

Jessica clenched her fist as her heart pounded furiously. She had wished for the culprit to be anyone else but Abelyn. Unfortunately, the truth couldn’t be more obvious now.

“What’s wrong? Why do you look so gloomy?” Joan asked from her bed when she saw Jessica enter the room.

What else can it be? It’s all because of Abelyn.

“Joan, tell me, why does Abelyn want to harm you?” Jessica confronted her. Joan turned to look out the window as her gaze darkened.

Good question, why indeed?

As far as she could remember, she had never done anything to hurt Abelyn. Hence, she wondered what drove Abelyn to repeatedly plot against her. Weren’t we all supposed to be the best of friends? How did that friendship turn sour into such animosity?

After racking her brains, Joan was still puzzled. The only thing she could remember was that Abelyn changed after their escape from Della.

Could this matter be related to Della? Joan’s eyes were filled with sadness.

What did Della tell her for her to hate me so much? Clenching the bedsheets, she was filled with conflicted emotions.

“How are you feeling? Any better?” Suddenly, Della barged into the ward.

What is she doing here? Joan increased her vigilance as she scrutinized Della. Didn’t she draw the line with Larry already? Why is she here at such a sensitive time?

“Why are you here?” Jessica got straight to the point.

Jessica must still be thinking I’m here to harm Joan. Della shot her a glance before explaining with a smile, “I heard that you have encountered some trouble. Hence, I have decided to see how you’re doing.”

Really? Is that all you want? Jessica glared at Della doubtfully. You better not have anything up your sleeve. Or else, I’m not going to forgive you easily.

Never Late, Never Away Chapter 3035

Burning Question

Jessica gave Della a fearsome glare.

Despite having heard that Della had turned over a new leaf, she didn’t lower her guard as she was still wary of her.

“Are you feeling better?” Della asked with a concerned tone.

Raising her gaze at her, Joan nodded with a smile.

After all, she knew Della’s character well. Although she was stubborn and had committed many unscrupulous deeds, Joan couldn’t deny that Della was a woman who was filial to the bone.

Despite ignoring her father often and their constant arguments, she changed drastically once she knew her father was sick.

“I’m fine. Don’t worry. How’s your dad? Is he getting better?” Joan asked out of courtesy.

Suddenly, Della lowered her head. His condition is not improving.

“Don’t worry. I’m sure everything will be fine. Your dad is an optimistic man. Hence, you should also share his optimism,” Joan quickly consoled her.

True, Joan is right. At this stage, there’s no time for me to wallow in my sorrow. Nevertheless, Della was shocked at Joan’s response.

She had expected Joan to berate her or even hit her, and not to have accord her such a cordial response. At that moment, she understood why Larry was so adamant about marrying Joan.

“Joan, do you hate me?” Della asked softly in a trembling voice.

Joan smiled and shook her head. There’s no point in hating. After all, it doesn’t solve anything in the end. Instead of drowning oneself in hatred, would it be better to let go and live life according to one’s wish.

“The past is water under the bridge, so don’t think too much about it. But, there is something I must ask you.” Joan’s expression suddenly became serious.

“Sure, go ahead. I’ll answer whatever I can,” Della replied at once.

“Ever since Abelyn was kidnapped by you…”

Ring! Ring! Suddenly, Della’s phone rang before Joan could finish.

“It’s my dad, I’ll have to take the call first.” Just as she spoke, Della walked out of the ward.

After the long call, she said bye to Joan and left the hospital immediately.

Why is she in such a hurry? Did something happen? Joan began to worry.

“Alright now, Joan. Don’t go on worrying about others. What was it that you wanted to ask Della? Besides, why are you no longer angry with her after what she has done to you?” Jessica asked curiously.

There’s no explanation for that. I just can’t go on hating her my entire life.

“It’s nothing, Jessica. Anyway, I’m hungry. Can you go buy me some meatloaf?” Joan changed the subject on purpose.

After what Jessica had said to her, Abelyn raised her guard significantly.

If even Jessica could think of it, the thought wouldn’t escape Larry. Squinting her eyes, Abelyn fell into deep thought.

“What are you thinking about?” Dustin asked softly while walking over.

“Nothing in particular. Why are you back so early today?” Abelyn asked while forcing a smile.

“Erm, I’m feeling under the weather today, so I have decided to come back earlier,” he replied casually.

In truth, he had a burning question for Abelyn. But, he was worried that he would hurt her feelings if he were to ask her.

The altercation between Larry and her at the hospital was stuck in his mind.

He was well aware of Larry’s calm character and that he wouldn’t suspect anyone easily. Hence, what happened that day did cause him to worry.

Larry wasn’t one to raise suspicion without good reason. Hence, when he accused Abelyn of being involved, there was likely some truth behind it.

Never Late, Never Away Chapter 3036

No Different From Anyone Else

Dustin felt conflicted as he stared at her, confused.

“What’s wrong? Do you have something to confess to me?” Abelyn asked, patting him gently on his shoulder.

After a brief hesitation, Dustin finally decided to clear his doubts. He carefully asked, “Abelyn, is there really nothing going on between you and Joan?”

What? Is he suspecting me too? Abelyn gave him an icy glare. Da*n you, Dustin. Have you never trusted me all this while?

As my boyfriend, shouldn’t you believe me unconditionally? Instead, how can you suspect me just like the others?

Furthermore, even if I was in the wrong, there is more reason for you to protect me. The last thing you should be doing is to question me!

“Dustin, what do you mean by that? What else can there be between Joan and me? Isn’t she already warded after what happened? I just went to see her for a while. So what about it? Do you have a problem with that?” Abelyn pressured him in return.

“No, no problem at all. It was just a casual question. Don’t read too much into it,” Dustin replied at once.

How can I not read too much into it? Your tone was filled with suspicion!

“If there’s nothing else, I got to go now.” With that, Abelyn turned and went upstairs.

Watching her leave, Dustin felt inexplicably nervous as he too was afraid. He was scared that she would do something impulsive behind his back.

Turning around, he grabbed his jacket from the sofa and headed out.

“What? Did you hear Abelyn’s voice? Are you sure, Joan? Do you have any recordings?” Jessica exclaimed in shock.

What recording? Given the condition I was in, how do you even expect me to do that? Nevertheless, she felt fortunate to have at least known the truth.

However, it didn’t stop the truth from hurting.

“What are you doing! Lower your voice,” Joan admonished Jessica as she quickly scanned her eyes around. With a guilty expression, Jessica shut her mouth at once.

However, both of them were oblivious to the fact that Dustin was standing by the door at that time.

“Joan, are you sure? If you are, we should confront Abelyn over it. What gives her the right to do this to you? You didn’t offend her in any way,” Jessica ranted.

Indeed, I have never done anything to her. Unfortunately, she doesn’t see it that way. Perhaps, from her perspective, I did offend her in some inexplicable manner.

“Enough. I would never have told anyone about it for the rest of my life if not for the fact that you keep bugging me. This is where the matter ends. Promise me that you’re not going to tell anyone else. Or else, I’m not going to talk to you anymore,” Joan demanded softly, pretending to look angry.

Why? Why does she have to suffer in silence despite knowing that it was Abelyn? Why does she think that way? She’s no different from anyone else. Does she think she can come out of this unscathed? Jessica fumed in her mind.

“No! Joan, you may be too shy to confront her but I’m not. I will demand her to tell the truth. I don’t believe she can get away just like that.”

With that, Jessica packed her things and prepared to leave.

“Stop!” Joan bellowed.

Oh dear, how can she be so impetuous! How are we going to face each other going forward once Jessica confronts Abelyn?

Jessica turned around and stared curiously at Joan.

“You’re not allowed to confront her nor tell anyone else about this!” Joan declared resolutely. Her expression was so stern that Jessica couldn’t help but recoil.

Never Late, Never Away Chapter 3037

Another Woman

“Joan, has it never crossed your mind that if you don’t stop her, Abelyn will seize the opportunity and do something worse?” Jessica retorted emotionally.

The consequences of doing nothing didn’t escape Joan. It was just that she valued their friendship too much.

“To hell with the relationship. Would she have committed such a despicable act against you if she saw you as her best friend? Joan, stop being in denial, I beg of you!”

While Jessica was screaming anxiously inside, Dustin’s heart sunk having heard everything.

Abelyn, why did you do this? Didn’t you use to be kind? What caused you to become so cruel? Also, what’s the reason for you to hurt Joan? With a frosty expression, Dustin supported himself with his hand on the wall.

“Why aren’t you going in?” Jake asked as he approached Joan’s room.

“Oh, I just received a phone call and have to deal with something.” Dustin left right after he said that.

What’s going on? Furrowing his eyebrows with displeasure, Jake entered the ward and remarked, “Dustin was here just now.”

Suddenly, silence filled the air.

Oh no! Did he hear our conversation just now? Joan became wary.

“What? Where is he? Where did he go?” Jessica asked immediately.

“He’s gone. He just left,” Jake replied as he put the fruits he brought on the table. However, Dustin had gone home by then.

Abelyn was sitting in the living room, having some fruits. and watching television leisurely.

How can she still be so calm? She’s really good at scheming and lying now! Dustin gradually approached and sat down beside her. However, he didn’t say a word for a long time.

“What’s wrong?” Abelyn turned to ask, sensing that something was amiss.

“Why did you kidnap Joan? What did she do to you?” Dustin confronted her.

Suddenly, Abelyn was stunned. How did he know? Abelyn stared intently at him, wondering how he had found out.

“What’s wrong? Did you think that your plan was perfect and that no one would find out?” Dustin snorted with disdain. Someone will always know sooner or later.

“Dustin, what are you saying? What did I do to Joan?” Abelyn asked, feigning innocence.

She is really a hypocrite! How could I not notice after so many years? Dustin expression was icy cold as he let out a self-deprecating laugh.

“You know what you did. Abelyn, let me give you a piece of advice. Stop harming others or you will be the one to suffer in the end,” Dustin admonished her.

In truth, he wasn’t that angry over what she had done. What he really couldn’t tolerate was her lies to him.

If a couple has to hide and lie to each other, that is an indication that they had reached the end of their relationship.

He liked Abelyn a lot to the extent that he couldn’t tear himself away from her. Despite that, he was still an extremely rational man.

To him, there were certain boundaries in life that should never be crossed.

If Abelyn really did mastermind Joan’s kidnap, he would not forgive her let alone Larry.

Staring at Dustin coldly, Abelyn felt upset over his reaction.

At the end of the day, Joan is the only one he truly cares about. What gives her that right? After such a long time, do I not mean anything to him?

Dustin Silverman, what kind of man are you? How can you treat me this way? You are my boyfriend and clearly have feelings for me. But now, how can you think of another woman? Abelyn was heartbroken.

Never Late, Never Away Chapter 3038

What A Joke

She didn’t know how to face him anymore. Not because she had done something wrong, but because she felt that his heart only belonged to Joan.

“Did you do it? If you did, you should admit your wrongdoing and apologize to them,” Dustin suggested in a dispassionate tone.

Apologize to who? Joan or Larry? Why should I apologize? When Joan abandoned me with Della, why didn’t she apologize to me?

Abelyn snorted with a mocking expression. She insisted, “I didn’t do anything wrong. Why should I apologize?”

How much more stubborn can she be? Does she not feel any shame at all? Staring at her, Dustin was filled with disappointment.

Abelyn oh Abelyn, I was wrong about you. Clenching his fist, a cold glint flashed in Dustin’s eye.

“Do you think that just by denying it vehemently, they can’t do anything to you? Let me burst the bubble for you, Abelyn. Joan knew that you were responsible since the beginning. It was just that she tried to keep it a secret. When you were talking with the kidnapper on the phone, she had heard everything!” Dustin bellowed as he had lost his patience with her.

Suddenly, Abelyn was stunned. She had not expected Joan to have known all along. No! That can’t be! How did she overhear the conversation?

Abelyn tilted her head and blinked as if she was deep in thought. Finally, she recalled that the man had indeed called her when he had captured Joan.

The next moment, Abelyn collapsed onto the sofa in a daze. It’s over. It’s all over.

“What now? Are you feeling guilty now? Are you ready to admit it? Abelyn, what happened between you and Joan for you to commit such a cruel act on her?” Dustin quickly asked.

There had to be an explanation for what she did as Abelyn wouldn’t have harmed Joan for no reason. He knew Abelyn well and was certain that she wasn’t the kind that was capable of such cruelty.

“Do you mean I am being cruel to her? Dustin, you have got to be kidding me! I’m your girlfriend, alright? When she was cruel to me, were you even there? No! All you saw was me being cruel to her.”

“When she abandoned and manipulated me, all of you were only concerned with her safety. None of you cared about whether I lived or died. In fact, my feelings didn’t matter at all,” Abelyn complained in tears.

What is she talking about? Since when did I not treat her as my girlfriend? Since when was she abandoned by Joan?

Dustin knew Joan’s temperament well and was certain that she would never have betrayed a friend. Therefore, there had to be some misunderstanding in between.

“Abelyn, explain to me what happened?” he quickly asked.

“What happened? You’re only asking that now? What about last time? Why didn’t you ask me then?” Abelyn asked sarcastically.

“When you first told me that you liked me, I really believed that you did. But after that, I slowly noticed that Joan is the only one that you truly care about!”

“When we were both abducted by Della, everyone was worried about her safety and no one was concerned with mine.”

At that moment, Dustin understood everything. It was now clear that Abelyn wasn’t the mastermind. Instead, it was Della!

With his eyes filled with sympathy, Dustin ran up to her and held her hand.

“Abelyn, listen to me. It isn’t what you think it is. Right after Joan was rescued, the first thing she said when she awoke was your name. You have to believe me,” Dustin explained anxiously.

Is that so? What happened after that? Why did anyone not look for me? What a joke! Only a three year old would buy that lie.

Never Late, Never Away Chapter 3039

You Could Have Asked

With a forceful push, Abelyn shoved Dustin aside.

“Why didn’t you voice your doubts? You could have asked Joan directly about it. Instead, you chose to commit such an atrocity behind her back,” Dustin remarked in disappointment.

So what? She was the one who started it. If she hadn’t abandoned me and left me with Della, I wouldn’t have schemed against her.

It’s all her fault! She is the one who forced me into the corner.

“Dustin, you’re the only one whom I have spoken to about this. As to what you decide to do, it’s entirely up to you.” Just as she spoke, Abelyn headed upstairs.

Up to me? How am I to even go about this? On one side is the one I love now. On the other, is the one I have loved for many years. How do I even make a choice?

Should I hide the truth? I would be betraying Joan then.

Should I expose her instead? But I can’t bear to see anyone harming her. However, what Dustin didn’t consider was that the harm that Abelyn had to suffer was actually her punishment.

As Dustin sat on the sofa, he lifted his head and stared blankly at the ceiling.

As of now, Jessica knows the truth. Even if I don’t tell anyone else about what Abelyn has just said, Jessica would definitely tell Larry given her temperament.

The only consolation is that Joan doesn’t want to pursue the matter at all.

Abelyn oh Abelyn, how did you end up being so irrational? With a helpless expression, Dustin looked in the direction of her room.

“Are you sure?” Larry asked coldly in his office.

“Yes! Absolutely sure! Joan told me herself,” Jessica answered resolutely on the phone.

It seems my suspicion is right. With an angry expression, Larry threw the documents he was holding aside.

No, I must confront Abelyn to get to the bottom of this. What drove her to harm Joan? Why did she choose to destroy such a precious relationship?

Knock! Knock! The knocks were loud and jarring.

In the living hall, Dustin sprang to his feet from the sofa.

Who is it? He became wary at once.

It doesn’t sound like a woman as their knocks wouldn’t have been so strong. Can it be that Larry is here to hold Abelyn accountable?

Dustin suddenly felt uneasy while Abelyn was still lying on her bed with her eyes closed as if nothing had happened.

“Hi, Larry, what brings you here?” Dustin asked with a smile.

“Move! Where is your girlfriend? Get her down here. I have something to ask her,” Larry demanded.

Given how furious he was, Dustin surmised that Larry had found out the truth about the kidnapping. Just as expected, Jessica had told him.

Dustin scratched the back of his head, feeling awkward.

“Abelyn is not at home. What do you want to see her for? Just tell me, and I’ll pass the message,” Dustin replied quickly.

Not at home? How is that possible? All this while, she would either be shopping, at the movies or sleeping at home. Given how bad the weather is now, what is she doing outside?

As Larry scrutinized Dustin, he suspected that he was being lied to.

Larry understood and empathized with Dustin. But, he still had to get to the bottom of the matter.

“Get her out here at once. I want to ask her personally if she was behind Joan’s kidnapping. I want to know what Joan did to offend her.” Just as he spoke, Larry plonked himself down on the sofa, looking unfazed.

Given the way he is behaving, he is unlikely to leave soon. Dustin suddenly felt as if he had a headache.

“Let me buy you lunch while I fill you in on everything that has happened,” Dustin quickly offered as he helped Larry up from the sofa.

Hmm? Can it be that he already knows? Larry gave him a curious look.

Never Late, Never Away Chapter 3040

Explanation

“Come, I’ll explain to you on her behalf,” Dustin said as he pushed Larry out.

Both men sat down in a secluded corner in the restaurant with grim expressions.

“What is it? Hurry up and spill. I need to leave soon.”

“Calm down. Abelyn wouldn’t have harmed Joan without a reason. Initially…”

After hearing Dustin’s detailed explanation, Larry eventually understood what had happened.

“That doesn’t mean that she could harm Joan! If she’s upset over something, she can be honest or ask Joan about it. There’s no reason for her to do something detrimental to anyone, including herself.”

Dustin had to admit Abelyn’s actions were indeed very inappropriate.

The two then had a long conversation before Larry left.

Abelyn was lying in the room, staring at the lonely moon from her window. Her face was scrunched up as she wondered why she ended up like this.

After a long while, Dustin came in.

“Alright, get up. You need to eat something,” Dustin uttered as he brushed away her fringe gently. There was concern in his voice.

“I don’t feel like eating,” replied Abelyn slowly.

“No, you need to eat something to replenish your energy.” With that, the man leaned over to pick her up.

Why? I’ve committed some grave mistakes. Why is he still worried about me? Abelyn looked up at Dustin as she was really curious.

Dustin responded with a grin but said nothing more.

There was no special reason. Abelyn was his girlfriend. Who else would protect her other than him? He let out a sigh and shook his head.

When Joan found out how Jessica told Larry about her kidnapping, and he had left to demand an explanation from Abelyn, she got all agitated.

“Jessica, didn’t I tell you to keep this a secret?” she demanded unhappily.

“It’s too late. I’ve told Larry about it. He’s now going to seek revenge!” Jessica was so sure.

Oh, no! Joan turned her face away and gazed out of the window. Abelyn’s a vengeful person. She’s no pushover.

“Don’t worry, Joan. Larry will take care of it.” Jessica patted Joan’s shoulder to comfort her.

Joan knew Larry was capable enough of dealing with the matter, but once Abelyn’s act was exposed, they would never return to the way things used to be.

Suddenly, Larry’s voice rang out of nowhere. “I know everything, so don’t even think of hiding it from me!” He then stalked in with a scowl on his face.

Upon spotting Larry’s arrival, Joan froze awkwardly.

How dare she keep this a secret from me? Larry took her hand in concern.

“Did you do anything to her?” Joan who was lying in bed asked in a worried tone.

Hmph. What else can I do to her? Larry shook his head without saying a word.

“Joan, see? There’s no need to worry for Larry didn’t do anything to her,” Jessica chimed in.

Ring! Ring! Suddenly, Joan’s phone rang.

It was Dustin. “I’m calling to apologize to you on Abelyn’s behalf. There has been a misunderstanding, so I think I might need to explain…” He proceeded to explain everything calmly.

Looks like the cat’s out of the bag. Joan stared at Larry wordlessly, feeling sorry for him. Joan was aware that Abelyn was a proud woman. Therefore, she would be upset as everyone had found out about the truth.

Joan put her phone down pensively.

“Joan, don’t think too much. Look at her…”
