Never Late, Never Away Chapter 3041

Too Late

Before she could finish, Caspian entered the room and greeted, “Joan!”

Jessica shut up promptly and went to the window, staring outside. She looked so cold and distant.

Clearly, she was still mad at Caspian.

Seeing her reaction, Caspian scratched his head awkwardly.

“Uh, do you feel better now?” he inquired.

“I’m alright. Don’t worry, they are taking good care of me,” Joan answered lightly. “By the way, what about that…”

She trailed off hesitantly. Everyone else knew who she was talking about, including Caspian, who was stumped.

“It’s a little tricky,” he concluded helplessly.

Joan had guessed as much.

Lisa may be young and looked innocent, but she was actually a scheming b*tch.

There were plenty of women like her in the world. Caspian must’ve committed some heinous act in his past life for him to meet such an annoying young lady.

“What do you plan to do?” Larry asked. He wanted Caspian to make things clear in front of Jessica. If this matter were to drag on, Jessica’s disdain for him would heighten.

Caspian lowered his gaze helplessly. Indeed, he didn’t even know what he should do next.

He wanted to get rid of Lisa, but she insisted that she was pregnant with his child and kept clinging to him shamelessly.

Jessica glanced at him briefly as her heart clenched in pain. It’s his fault, she sneered silently as disdain flashed across her gaze.

If he hadn’t suspected something was going on between Larry and me, this wouldn’t have happened. He’s usually thoughtless, but I’ve never seen anyone who could be as jealous as him.

With that being said, there wasn’t anything that she could do about it either. Therefore, she decided to take it one step at a time.

“Larry, to be honest, I don’t want to be involved with her, but she keeps coming to me. It’s really frustrating,” Caspian revealed, shaking his head helplessly.

Frustrating? Then push her away! It’s as simple as that. Why can’t he understand? Larry glanced at Caspian skeptically. I think he couldn’t bring himself to hurt her.

“If you want to sever ties with her, make up your mind and stop contacting her. But if you can’t decide, you should forget about Jessica,” Larry didn’t mince his words.

Larry was right, but Caspian was afraid that Lisa would commit suicide and blame everything on him.

Caspian clenched his fist tight. He looked pathetic.

“Larry, Joan, you have no idea how crazy she can be. She told me if I were to reject her, she would die in front of me. She had also slit her wrist previously,” Caspian uttered in a low voice.

Slit her wrist? Joan was shocked. Why did she go to such extremes? If that’s the case, it means that Caspian can’t act rashly now.

Larry stroked his chin thoughtfully.

That young lady’s pretty good at this. She’s threatening to commit suicide so Caspian wouldn’t leave her! Larry gripped the corner of his shirt as his expression darkened.

Still, he can’t wrong Jessica just because of Lisa! Larry turned to face Caspian and glared at him disapprovingly.

“Jessica, what do you think about this?” Larry blurted out all of a sudden. His voice was unnaturally loud.

“It’s none of my business. I shall stay out of this,” came Jessica’s curt reply. Indeed, her opinion didn’t matter at all. She refused to interfere in this matter.

Never Late, Never Away Chapter 3042

Lisa Dunham

Jessica didn’t even bother to hide the contempt in her voice.

Larry curled his lips into a smirk. Looks like Caspian will fail to get her back.

“Why is it none of your business? If it wasn’t for her, we would’ve already been…” Caspian muttered.

“Shut up!” Jessica retorted loudly. How dare he mention his promise? What a joke!

“I have other matters to attend to. I need to get going,” Jessica announced and stormed out of the ward.

“Larry, what should I do?” Caspian clutched Larry’s arm in desperation.

What else is there to be done? Just play the waiting game! Time will solve everything. That was what Larry had in mind, but he merely shook his head regretfully.

If Caspian remained with Jessica without creating trouble, they would’ve been married by now. Alas, it was too late to regret now.

“Won’t you go after her?” Joan urged.

Larry patted her shoulder as he explained, “There’s no need for that. Jessica might be capricious, but she is still clear-headed enough not to delay or affect important affairs.”

“Jessica, don’t leave! I love you,” declared Caspian. “Can’t you give me another chance?” He tugged her arm and pleaded.

Unfortunately, it was all too late.

“I’m sorry, but I never look back.”

“Don’t say that! I know you still love me. My feelings for you remain unchanged. Why can’t we start all over again?” Caspian blocked Jessica’s exit hastily.

That sounds ridiculous! He was the one who got drunk and slept with another woman. How dare he requests to get back together with me now? The nerve of him!

Jessica gritted her teeth as she stared at Caspian, tamping down the urge she had to tear him into pieces.

She schooled her expression and responded, “I’m sorry, but I need to go now.”

“You’re not busy. There’s nothing to do in your bookstore. Can’t we sit down and talk over a meal?” Caspian proposed.

Slap!

Her palm landed squarely on Caspian’s face. His cheek flared up promptly from the force.

“This is my last warning. You’re the one who cheated on me in the first place. There’s no way I’ll forgive you. I’m not a housemaid who you can order around as you please. I have my principle and dignity to uphold!” Jessica hollered.

They were in a public place, but she couldn’t be bothered as long as she could vent her anger and frustrations at him.

Caspian’s heart sank upon hearing her declaration. It dawned on him that things were over between them.

He fidgeted nervously. I want to get back together with her, but it seems impossible now.

Seeing how despondent he was, Joan exhaled lightly, her expression tinged with disappointment. They were a match made in heaven, but they were soon going to become strangers.

Lisa’s voice broke the tension. “Caspian, I knew you’d be here.”

Everyone was surprised at her appearance, especially Jessica, who instantly scowled unhappily.

Why is she here? Caspian scrutinized her in bewilderment.

He strode over to push her out hastily. “Why are you here?”

“Your friend is also my friend. Of course, I should come and visit Joan. It’s all your fault. Why didn’t you tell me you’re going to come to the hospital? I would’ve tagged along if I knew about this.” She took Caspian’s arm and pouted prettily.

Lisa sneaked a glance at Jessica, who was standing not far away.

Clearly, she was acting this way on purpose.

Never Late, Never Away Chapter 3043

One Million

“Larry, Joan, I need to get going,” Jessica announced and proceeded to leave.

Oh Jessica, you’re no match for me. Don’t even get any idea. Caspian is mine! The young lady glanced at her retreating figure, her eyes glinting with menace.

An awkward silence settled in the ward. Larry ignored them both while Joan gazed out of the window without saying a word.

Caspian grabbed Lisa’s hand and led her out of the ward.

“What are you doing? Stop, it hurts!” she yelled and struggled to free herself from his grip.

It hurts? Ha! Caspian glowered at her in indignation as the agony he felt was a hundred times more than her discomfort.

“What do you want from me? I’ve returned the one million to Larry. I’m penniless now. You won’t get anything from me!” he declared.

What? He returned the one million to Larry? Is he a fool? Why would he do something this stupid?

She studied Caspian doubtfully as fury rose in her heart.

No, I need to calm down. Calm down! Lisa took a deep breath to cool her head off. Larry gave Caspian one million previously, so he might give more in the future.

I can’t leave Caspian now! I need to cling to this money tree.

She hurriedly put up an act. “Caspian, what are you talking about? You must’ve gotten it wrong. I don’t want your money. I love you, not your money.”

That’s bulls*it! She loves me instead of my money? Who is she trying to bluff?

She and her friends are nothing but snobs. True love doesn’t exist to them. All they want is money. They will willingly go with anyone who is rich until they get dumped.

“Stop talking nonsense. I shall make things clear today,” Caspian declared. “The only woman I love is Jessica Zimmer. No matter what happened between us, I will not lay my hands on another woman. You should just give up.”

He added, “Stop telling others you’re pregnant with my child. Otherwise, I’ll run a DNA test the moment you give birth. Imagine how humiliating it is for you!”

How dare he threaten me? Lisa glowered at him angrily. He isn’t showing any sympathy! She was not amused with his threats.

He’s this harsh because of Jessica. Da*n you, Jessica. You won’t get away with this!

She spun on her heels and stormed away.

Strangely, uneasiness crept up Caspian’s heart as he watched her leave.

Meanwhile, Jessica was zoning out in her office at the bookstore. She had stopped pining after Caspian.

At the same time, she had also lost all hope on him.

Ring! Ring!

Joan’s worried voice sounded over the phone. “Are you alright?”

“I’m fine,” Jessica replied after clearing her throat.

Fine? Her voice is hoarse. She must’ve cried earlier. Joan felt sorry for her.

“Don’t think too much. You’re no longer in a relationship, so work hard to develop your career to make your family proud,” comforted Joan.

“Alright, I got it. Joan, don’t worry. I need to get back to work. Talk to you later!” Jessica cut the line abruptly. She was afraid she might break down if Joan continued comforting her.

Never Late, Never Away Chapter 3044

Vandalism

Jessica wiped the tears on her cheeks and straightened her outfit before striding out of her office.

“Did anything happen in the bookstore recently?” she strolled around and asked her employees.

“No. It’s pretty quiet recently.”

Hearing their answers, Jessica nodded happily. Her love life might be a mess, but at least her business was still doing well. That was enough for her.

She was deep in thought when something loud crashed outside.

Crack! The glass window of her bookstore smashed into pieces.

What is going on? Jessica rushed out to see what was going on.

Crack! Crack!

The remaining glass windows smattered into pieces one after another.

Da*n it, what’s going on?

“Where is the culprit?” she glanced around and demanded.

“Ms. Zimmer, they had already escaped,” her employee responded.

Rage boiled in Jessica’s heart instantly. She couldn’t believe someone would cause trouble in her bookstore in broad daylight! Immediately, she pulled out her phone and called the cops.

Soon, the cops arrived.

“Have you checked your security footage?”

Alas, Jessica and her employees didn’t even know the security cameras had been destroyed earlier.

Clearly, it was a deliberate action. Jessica narrowed her gaze and stared out of the window gloomily. This was the first time she had ever encountered something like this since she started running the bookstore.

Anger flashed across her eyes.

“Ms. Zimmer, since the security cameras had been destroyed, it might take us some time to find out who did this,” the cops explained.

They are just trying to buy time! All at once, rage thrummed through Jessica’s veins.

She had never offended anyone at work, so there was no reason for someone to target her. Unless it was done by someone who wasn’t in her field of business.

Jessica couldn’t figure out who it could be.

She would only show her stubborn, cheeky, and coy side to Larry and Caspian. Other men thought of her as a workaholic.

No, it isn’t as simple as it seems. Jessica paced around nervously. It might happen again!

Suddenly, a figure suddenly popped up in her mind.

Why would she do something this horrible? Jessica massaged her temples in an effort to clear her mind.

If it’s Lisa taking revenge on me, I shall teach her a lesson!

Jessica’s fists balled up in resentment. She took away my boyfriend from me, and now she’s trying to ruin my business. I’m not a pushover!

She vowed silently, Don’t let me get something on you, or I shall make you pay.

Jessica gritted her teeth.

Joan, who was still in the hospital, panicked instantly when she heard what happened. “What? Is Jessica hurt? Where is she? What happened?”

“Calm down, will you? She’s fine. A few glass windows in her bookstore were shattered. It’s no big deal,” Larry explained hastily.

That’s a serious matter. It is obvious that someone is trying to bully Jessica. Panic overwhelmed Joan’s chest at that thought.

She immediately urged, “You should go and see if she’s hurt.”

“Joan, don’t worry. I’m alright,” Jessica stepped into the ward and assured her. “It was an accident. A few kids were playing outside and accidentally threw a stone at my windows. It’s nothing huge.”

Oh, I see. Joan breathed a sigh of relief.

Never Late, Never Away Chapter 3045

Larry Will Protect Me

“You’re still here because you won’t stop worrying about me. Don’t overthink things. No matter what, Larry will protect me!”

Jessica patted Larry’s shoulder as she curved up her lips in a grin.

What a cheeky girl! Larry flashed a smile.

“Alright, don’t you worry. As long as I’m here, no one will dare to bully Jessica. Besides, I don’t think anyone dares to bully her. She’s the only bullying others,” he teased.

Jessica flashed an irritated glare at him for he was describing her negatively.

Joan was relieved to hear their banter.

Jessica had lost her family, and the only person she trusted was Larry. That was why she treated Larry as her own brother even though they weren’t related by blood.

Still, Larry and Joan’s lives were merrier ever since Jessica joined them.

“Oh, what about you and Caspian?” Joan asked out of nowhere.

Avoiding the problem wouldn’t make it go away. Even though she decided not to see him, it didn’t mean their matter would disappear into thin air.

After all, one would need to go through obstacles to see the rainbow after the storm.

Joan understood Jessica’s feelings and knew the reason behind her decision, but sometimes, she couldn’t help but feel sorry for her.

She wanted her friend to be happy more than anything; yet, Jessica was unlucky enough to get into this mess.

Why must Caspian get himself involved with that woman?

“Joan, don’t mention his name ever again. It’s over between us,” Jessica stated firmly.

Her voice was steely, allowing no room for negotiation. The other two immediately understood her wishes, but that didn’t stop disappointment from flashing across their eyes.

Jessica wasn’t one who liked to play jokes, so it was clear what she wanted.

She would never get back together with Caspian. Jessica’s wish was of utmost importance for now. She must be really upset before making such a decision to forego her relationship with Caspian.

“Alright. As long as you’re happy, anything will do,” Joan replied.

She was afraid Jessica would get depressed for she couldn’t forget Caspian. Her guess was right. Jessica seemed unbothered, but deep down, she was breaking down.

Life without Caspian was meaningless to her. Still, there was no way they would return to the past.

Love was fragile enough to fade into thin air any second.

Jessica scoffed and turned to look out of the window as sorrow appeared on her face.

“Hey, it’s over. Stop thinking about it,” Larry gave her a slight push and told her. Jessica merely flashed a smile in response.

Yes, it was over, but she had yet to forget that man.

“Don’t worry, Larry. I’m fine.”

In a desolate corner, Jake was talking to someone icily. “Stop trying to harm Joan. If you do it again, I shall tear you into pieces!” he warned.

Joan! Joan again! Abelyn burst out laughing. How did Joan manage to seduce these men?

Pure hatred flashed across her eyes as she clenched her fists tightly. First, it was Larry, then it was Dustin, and now Jake. She’s really a vixen!

Never Late, Never Away Chapter 3046

Denial

“I have no idea what you’re talking about. I’m sorry, but I need to get going for now,” Abelyn feigned innocence and turned to leave.

B*tch! Is she pretending not to know anything?

The truth has been revealed. Does she seriously think no one knows what horrible deeds she did? What a joke! I, Jake Wilson, have access to whatever information I need! Does she think she can hide anything from me?

He stepped forward and grabbed her arm, his gaze radiating murder.

“Abelyn Chipman, don’t say I didn’t warn you. If I find out you’re trying to harm Joan one day, that will be the end of you!”

Then, he flung her arm away and stalked out.

Abelyn felt her heart thumping uneasily as she watched him leave. Jake’s right. He can do anything he wants.

Ring! Ring! Her phone rang. It was a call from Dustin.

“Where are you? I’ll go pick you up,” his concerned voice rang out.

Abelyn might’ve committed a crime by kidnapping Joan, but Dustin didn’t give up on her for she was still his girlfriend.

“No need,” Abelyn replied. She was about to hang up when Dustin hurriedly interjected, “Wait! It’s getting late. Why don’t I give you a ride? It’s dangerous to be alone at this hour.”

For some reason, Abelyn was moved by his words.

She thought Dustin would forget about her, but he was evidently concerned about her.

“No need… Ah!” Suddenly, her loud shriek resonated through the line.

Dustin panicked instantly.

“Abelyn! Where are you, Abelyn? Can you hear me?”

Oh no. Did something happen to her? Dustin grabbed his jacket hastily and rushed out.

Soon, the news of Abelyn’s disappearance reached Larry, Joan, Jessica, and Nancy’s ears.

“What happened? Why did she disappear without warning?” Nancy demanded.

Dustin hurriedly explained, “I’m clueless, too. We were talking on the phone when she suddenly yelped and hung up.” By now, it was clear that she had been abducted.

Abelyn had just returned from abroad, so it was not likely for her to make any enemies.

Wait, I must’ve missed something.

Dustin scratched the back of his head, utterly distressed.

“Larry, did you send someone after her?” he turned to look at Larry and questioned him sternly.

What’s that supposed to mean? Why would I make things difficult for a woman? Yes, Abelyn had brought harm to Joan, but I still hadn’t had time to think of how to punish her.

Is it a rival in her field?

That’s impossible. To begin with, Abelyn is rarely involved in her business operation. Moreover, she is also polite enough not to offend anyone in the business circle.

“No, I didn’t,” he answered.

He would admit if it was him, but there was no way he’d admit to something he didn’t do. There might be a possibility that Abelyn had offended some big shot out there.

Smack!

Abelyn was slapped by the man who brought her into this room.

Dan it. Who the fck sent him to kidnap me? Don’t tell me it’s Larry? Abelyn fixed her attire calmly and studied her surroundings.

“Why did you bring me here?” she inquired.

What else? I’ve kidnapped you, of course!

Never Late, Never Away Chapter 3047

You Forgot To Pay Me

“You’re so forgetful, Ms. Chipman. Don’t you remember me?” the man hollered.

Abelyn’s eyes widened as she studied the man carefully. All of a sudden, her eyes lit up as she thought of something.

Huh? Why is he here? I thought he has already left the country? What is he doing here?

“Ms. Chipman, you forgot to transfer the rest of the payment to me,” the man reminded her angrily. “You promised to transfer the money to my account after I did everything, but I didn’t receive a cent from you!”

What the hell? Abelyn gave the man a look full of disdain.

“What’s wrong? Did you forget to do so? Well, I haven’t. When will you pay me the remaining five hundred grand?” the man cut to the chase and demanded.

Five hundred grand? Where will I get the money from?

“You failed the task miserably, so I won’t be paying you,” Abelyn answered and clenched her teeth helplessly. At that point, she no longer cared for her dignity due to the circumstances.

The man flew into a fit of anger upon hearing her rejection. “Aren’t you afraid I’ll spill everything?”

Hmm? Afraid? Abelyn’s lips curled up in a smirk. Nonsense. When have I ever been afraid?

“If you refuse to pay me, don’t blame me for taking action.”

“What are you going to do? Let me go!” Abelyn struggled and yelled.

“Have you found her?”

In the hospital, Joan was glancing at Dustin anxiously. In response, Dustin shook his head gloomily.

Why did she disappear all of a sudden? Concern flashed across Joan’s gaze.

“She deserves it for trying to harm you without reason. It’s karma,” said Nancy.

When Nancy first heard about Abelyn’s disappearance, she was worried about her friend. However, after recalling what Abelyn did to Joan, her frustration kicked in.

“That’s enough, Nancy.”

Why should I stop? She did so many horrible things. Can’t I even criticize her? Nancy shot daggers at Jory who had just chided her.

This is strange. I am talking about Abelyn. Why does he cut in? It’s none of his business. I can’t believe he’s siding with an outsider.

With that, Nancy shoved his arm away disapprovingly.

Jory was stumped, too. Abelyn was his friend’s girlfriend, so it seemed wrong to him to gossip about her.

“Nancy, that happened in the past. Let’s not talk about it anymore,” Joan hurriedly chimed in.

Some of Abelyn’s actions were upsetting to her, but she wasn’t that petty. She would definitely forgive Abelyn if the latter changed over a new leaf.

“Joan, don’t be stupid. Did you forget what Abelyn did to you?” Nancy reminded her in exasperation.

Joan forced out a smile. What else can I do? I can’t hate her forever, can I? Life is too short. Why do we want to waste time holding a grudge and hating anyone?

Larry knew what Joan was thinking, so he said nothing.

Meanwhile, Abelyn was suffering in the room. She couldn’t help but sob out loud.

“Stop crying! It’s useless to cry. Abelyn Chipman, don’t forget you have agreed to pay me five hundred grand!” the man reminded viciously.

But he didn’t succeed! That was the whole point!

“You didn’t succeed, so you don’t deserve to get paid. Do you think I earn money that easily?” Abelyn retorted icily.

Never Late, Never Away Chapter 3048

Recording

Oh? She’s twisting the facts, what a b*tch. That wasn’t what she promised me.

Back then, Abelyn was in a rush and promised to pay the man five hundred grand whether he succeeded or failed.

But now, Abelyn was lying or had forgotten about it. Right now, she refused to admit to it.

“I recorded our conversation back then. You’d better transfer the money, or I shall throw you into the sea!” the man threatened.

Ha! Who is he trying to bluff? Does he think I’m a coward?

Abelyn was very experienced in the corporate world, so she wasn’t afraid of his threat. Instead, she averted her gaze and stared out of the window, ignoring him altogether.

She isn’t going to pay me.

The man inched nearer to her and lifted her chin, his eyes gleaming with malice. “Are you going to pay me or not?”

“No!” came Abelyn’s firm reply before she shut her eyes.

Alright, then. I won’t hold back either.

The man whipped out a sharp knife and sharpened in on the table menacingly.

Abelyn instantly started quaking in her boots. Is he seriously going to kill me because I didn’t pay him that five hundred grand?

Fear flickered past her eyes. Shit, am I going to die in his hands?

All the man wanted was for Abelyn to pay the remaining five hundred thousand. Suddenly, something occurred to him. Wait, she doesn’t have the money, but perhaps her friend might be loaded!

He ordered his men, “Go there and find her phone.”

Shortly after, Abelyn’s phone was delivered to him.

At the sight of her phone, Abelyn panicked. “What are you doing?” she inquired nervously. Is he going to demand a ransom from my friends?

Ring! Ring!

What a good timing! The man flashed an evil smirk for Abelyn’s phone was ringing just in time.

“Abelyn, where are you?” Dustin’s anxious voice sounded out of the phone. “Why did you suddenly cut the line? Tell me where you are now. I’ll go pick you up.”

The man had put him on speaker, so Abelyn heard everything he said. She was deeply touched by his concern.

“She’s with me now.”

Upon hearing the man’s voice, Dustin fell silent on the other end of the line.

“Prepare five hundred thousand. Deliver the money to the address which I’ll send you later at tomorrow noon.” With that, the line was cut.

Dustin was shocked into silence by the man’s request.

Who is he? Why did he kidnap Abelyn? Did she do something against the law again? That might be her enemy!

Crash!

Feeling vexed, Dustin knocked everything off the table without saying anything. Everyone jolted in surprise at his sudden action.

“Dustin, what happened? Tell us. Don’t just smash things and keep quiet!” Joan spoke haltingly.

“Abelyn had been kidnapped. The kidnapper demanded a ransom of five hundred grand,” Dustin revealed. Everyone immediately gasped in horror.

Serve her right! She has brought this upon herself. Nancy pursed her lips as her face contorted in anger. Yet, deep down, she was concerned for Abelyn’s safety.

“I’ll loan you the money, Dustin,” Jory stood out and announced.

Why is he offering help all of a sudden? Nancy stepped out and tugged on his sleeves to show her disapproval.

“Don’t worry. Money isn’t an issue as long as I’m here,” Jory added.

Dustin wasn’t as rich as Jory and Larry, so he didn’t have that much savings.

Nancy shoved Jory and reprimanded him. “Are you cray?”

Never Late, Never Away Chapter 3049

We Can Help

“Shut up!” Jory barked and glared at her angrily. His friend was in trouble, so he couldn’t sit back and do nothing.

Both Larry and Joan supported him too.

“Dustin, if you need help, just let us know. If you don’t have enough money, I can be of help,” Joan glanced at Larry and uttered softly.

Dustin looked at her, he felt touched and was grateful.

All the while, Jessica remained silent, her expression calm.

She knew Joan wouldn’t turn a blind eye to Abelyn’s kidnapping. If Jory hadn’t offered help, Jessica would’ve told Larry to pay the ransom on behalf of Dustin.

Joan was a kind person, so Abelyn must be blind for trying to harm her.

Five hundred thousand was nothing to Jory, so he quickly received the money in cash.

“Do you need me to send someone-”

“No need,” Dustin interrupted. “The kidnapper said I need to go there alone.”

Won’t it be dangerous for him to head there alone with five hundred grand? Joan voiced her concern. “Larry, why don’t you send a few men to follow him?”

“Don’t worry. I know what to do.” Larry strode out right after saying that.

Seeing how busy Joan was, Nancy felt slightly irritated, but she soon got over it. Friendship was important to them. Perhaps Abelyn had a reason to scheme against Joan.

“Stop kicking up a fuss. Your boyfriend said he’ll be here with the five hundred grand soon,” Abelyn’s kidnapper declared, his voice full of excitement.

Pfft! Five hundred grand? He doesn’t deserve it! Abelyn shot daggers at the man as fury raged within her.

“Dream on! You won’t get the money!” she shrieked with all her might.

Oh? Does she have some tricks up her sleeves? I won’t let that happen! The man came closer to her, his gaze frigid.

“Shut the f*ck up! Otherwise, don’t blame me for being rude.”

Is that a warning? Abelyn sneered disdainfully. Someone like him isn’t meant to succeed in life! He’s so useless!

“Let me go! Otherwise-”

Smack! Abelyn’s words were cut off with a slap across the face so hard that her cheek went red instantly.

She looked up slowly and met the man’s gaze, scowling in anger. How dare he slap me?

Ring! Ring!

Abelyn’s phone was ringing, so she jerked her head to stare at it anxiously. Dustin, don’t fall for his lies!

“You’re here? Great! Make sure you’re alone, or I shall kill her without hesitation!” the man reminded Dustin.

“Dustin, don’t come here! Leave right this instance!” Abelyn’s sudden yell pierced the air.

Upon hearing her screams, Dustin hurriedly said, “Let her go! I will pay the ransom willingly.”

Bullsh*t. I’m not a three-year-old kid.

“No way. I need to receive the money before I release her,” the man declared. There was no room for negotiation in his tone.

Dustin had no choice but to listen to the man and place the money in the designated location.

“Looks like your boyfriend loves you dearly. He got the money right after I called him to save you. You should thank him for his efforts,” the man mocked as he brought Abelyn out of the room.

The moment Dustin saw how exhausted and disheveled Abelyn was, his heart shattered into pieces.

“Abelyn, it’s fine. I’m here to take you home,” he assured her.

Never Late, Never Away Chapter 3050

Between Money And Life

The moment Abelyn saw Dustin, the dam broke and she started sobbing loudly.

“That’s enough. Stop crying. He’s already here to pick you up. Why the hell are you crying? Go on now!” With that, he pushed Abelyn forward.

Of course, he was already fully prepared to make an escape.

The half a million was already safely taken away. He only needed to turn around, slide into the car, and leave immediately after.

Thud! Due to the force of his push, Abelyn fell to the ground.

“Are you okay? Did he hurt you?” caressing her hair, Dustin asked anxiously.

At that moment, Abelyn was so touched words failed her. Hence, she merely shook her head in response.

Soon, the car zoomed away, leaving only Abelyn and Dustin behind.

The kidnapper only wanted money and not Abelyn’s life. Naturally, after receiving the money, he would immediately take flight. Little did he know that Larry’s men were already lying in wait for him for a long time.

“I’m fine. Don’t worry,” Abelyn choked out.

In the car, Caspian reported over the phone in a low voice, “They’re here, Larry.”

“Everyone get into position. The target is approaching us. Standby,” Larry ordered icily. Finally, the car appeared in their line of sight.

“Who are you guys? What do you want?” the man who kidnapped Abelyn demanded in a trembling voice while staring at Larry and the other men in wide-eyed horror.

“I want half a million!” Larry replied bluntly.

What? Half a million? The man was stunned.

How does he know about the money? Or is he and that Dustin guy in this together? Damn it! How dare they play this trick on me?

The man hurled his phone onto the ground, a vicious look taking residence on his face as he gritted out, “I deserve this money, so don’t even think about taking it away from me!”

Deserve? How absurd! He didn’t even do anything to earn that money. There’s no such thing as a free lunch in this world.

Larry stalked closer to him. Eyeing him dubiously as a wave of annoyance washed over him, he questioned, “Then why don’t you tell me, why you think you deserve this half a million?”

Subsequently, the man recounted everything that had happened to Larry. In an instant, Larry felt rising anger in him. Damn you, Abelyn! Joan was worried sick about you, constantly thinking of ways to save you, but you repeatedly plotted to claim her life!

With a frightening expression on his face, Larry gripped the man’s collar and said through gritted teeth, “Give me the money, or you can say goodbye to your pathetic life!”

For a moment, the man’s expression froze. Between money and life, of course, he would choose his life.

He still had a long life ahead of him and many more chances to start over again, but if he lost his life, what was the use of half a million?

“You can have that half a million, but you must let me go!”

“Sure, but I hope that something like this won’t happen again in the future. Otherwise, I’ll make sure it’s the end of the line for you.” Larry’s intimidating tone caused the man to take an involuntary step backward as panic surged in him.

I never thought that damned girl, Abelyn, would have someone like Larry Norton protecting her. The man sighed softly and left.

In any case, Abelyn was still the one to blame for this. Hence, Larry naturally wouldn’t pin it on the man.

“How’s everything? Has she been rescued?” Joan’s asked over the phone, concern heavy in her voice.

“Don’t worry. Dustin already got her out,” Larry reassured softly.

Back at home, Abelyn’s eyes widened. What? Joan told Larry to get that half a million back?

She had just reached home when Dustin broke the news to her. Overridden with guilt, she did not know how she was going to face that woman again in the future.
