Punishment
“Just like that?”
Jake obviously didn’t see through Megan’s plan yet. He raised his eyebrow in surprise and was curious as to why didn’t she protest.
“Mmm-hmm. What you say makes sense. So, we’ll just go along with it for the time being.”
Given how calm she was, it seemed as she had no problems with Jake’s proposal at all. All she did was look out the window quietly.
Suddenly, Jake couldn’t grasp what was on her mind. However, he felt that it was better to keep it that way.
Half an hour later, both of them arrived at an apartment in a newly developed area in the city. Empty-handed, Jake led her into the elevator.
Inside, Megan felt nervous and couldn’t stop speculating about what was about to happen. As the most dramatic and frightening scenarios played across her mind, she had no choice but to wait for it to happen.

A short while later, the elevator stopped on the twentieth floor. Megan followed Jake to one of the units. Upon entry, she was greeted by a jarring decor of black and white.
The moment she walked in, a cold and suppressing feeling slowly enveloped her.
Feeling the chill from the apartment, she recovered her gaze and began to change her shoes. Suddenly, before she was done, Jake pulled her impatiently into his embrace.
“Hey, what’s wrong? I’m not done changing yet.” Megan lowered her head nervously while tightening the grip of her fingers. Not daring to turn around, she could feel Jake’s warm breath blowing past her ear.
“You’re too slow. As for Jonas’ problem, don’t think that just because you’ve admitted your mistake I will forgive you easily.” Blinking his eyes, Jake gently bit Megan’s ear lobe from the back.
Megan felt as if her ear was seared by a burning piece of metal. With her heart pounding furiously, her body tensed up as she was unable to stop Jake’s hand from wandering around wantonly.
“No…”
As her sensitive spots were being teased, Megan was on the brink of letting go of her restraints. Unable to control herself, she leaned into Jake’s warm embrace and allowed herself to be covered by his breath.
“What’s wrong? Why do you look like you’re in agony?”
Asking the obvious, Jake stopped his hand from moving. As a faint smile broke out on his face, his eyes sparkled with desire.
Cognizant that he was teasing her, Megan couldn’t resist any further. Turning around, she put one hand around his neck while reaching the other underneath his shirt.
As her fingers brushed gently across his skin, lust began to fill his eyes. Immersing himself in her brazen advances, the passion in his kiss began to intensify.
Within the empty house, both of them moved inside the bedroom before moving back out to the sofa. The intensity of their passion never wavered throughout.
Initially, Jake had wanted to treat this as Megan’s punishment. However, given how the situation developed, both of them were unable to see it as such.
The next morning, Megan was awoken by the sunlight that pierced through the gap in the curtains. Furrowing her eyebrows, she yawned languidly as she opened her eyes. After drawing a blank in her mind, she finally recalled what had happened the day before.
Wait a moment. Did I do something unbelievable yesterday?
“Are you awake?”
Just when Megan froze in bed with her face flushed red, a familiar voice rang out. Shuddering at it, she buried herself under the sheets just like an ostrich doing the same in the sand.
Jake had just showered. When he saw how reluctant she was to face reality, he couldn’t help but feel amused.
During their passionate encounter last night, there was no sign of her bashfulness at all. Instead, it was only after the whole affair was over that she felt embarrassed by it.
Chuckling to himself, his mood had improved dramatically from yesterday. Staring at the lump under the sheets, he remarked coldly, “If you don’t get up, you will be late for work. Your manager has already called you countless times.”

Fueling The Rumor
Throwing the blanket aside, Jake sat on the bed and looked at her. Jolted, Megan peeked out of the sheets with her flaming red cheeks.
After dawdling around aimlessly, she opened her mouth but no words could come out.
When he saw how awkward she was, Jake decided not to embarrass her further. The moment he pulled off the blanket, she shrieked, “What are you doing!”
Covering her own body, Megan had wanted to shield it with her blanket. However, Jake quickly turned around in silence so that she could put on her clothes.
“Stop lying in bed and get up quick. I’ll be going to work too and will drop you off at the film site.”
Staring at the broad shoulders of his back, Megan gawked for a moment. Scratching her head, she quickly picked up her clothes from the floor.
He’s no longer as angry compared to yesterday. Does this mean that he has forgiven me?
It seems men are much easier to pacify than women.
As both of them got dressed in silence, Megan went to the bathroom to wash up. She was surprised to see that a new set of toiletries there. Did he get someone to prepare these yesterday?
As she began to brush her teeth, she felt both nervous and blissful at the same time.
Nervous because Jake had somehow made this into an ivory tower to keep her in. Nevertheless, she was glad that she now knew how important she was to him.
While brushing her teeth, she looked in the mirror and didn’t find anything special about how she looked. Therefore, she couldn’t fathom what Jake saw in her. Can it solely be because of the lie?
Lost in her thoughts, she suddenly heard Jake asking her to hurry up. After finishing up whatever she was doing, she followed him downstairs to the car park.
After a while, Jake dropped her off somewhere nearby the film site where she walked there by herself.
Before she became famous, her relationship with Jake would be easily misconstrued. Therefore, she wanted to keep a low profile so that others would not think that she was a trophy girlfriend.
“Dan it! Megan, you’re finally here. Where the fck did you go after you landed?”
The moment Donna saw Megan, she who had never cursed before swore at Megan while reprimanding her. When Megan saw the concern and anxiousness in Donna’s eyes, she couldn’t help but feel guilty over her actions.
After being lost for words, she racked her brains and found an excuse. “Last night, I had too much to drink with my friends and fell asleep in the hotel. Luckily, I remembered to turn up for work today.”
Donna rolled her eyes at Megan. But realizing that nothing untoward had happened to her, Donna’s anger subsided. “You could have at least sent a message. I was worried sick the whole night! Anyway, it doesn’t matter now. You’ll be on in half an hour so you better hurry for your makeup.”
Donna felt frustrated when she saw that Megan had not put on any makeup. It was obvious that she had just washed her face at the hotel before she came. Even her hair was still in a mess.
“Alright, I head there right away. By the way, has Rocky made his move? What’s the latest on the online comments about Jonas?”
After heading to the makeup booth, Megan asked Donna about Jonas while she had her makeup done.
As Jake had picked her up the moment she landed, she had no time to find out about the latest developments with regards to Jonas’ scandal.
In response, Donna glanced at Megan before checking her phone. She reported, “Rocky has taken action and has managed to silence most of the comments about the scandal. Furthermore, the internet is now filled with pictures of you and Jonas’ couple accessories. Even the fans that resented you in the beginning now want you to make public your relationship, so as to confirm the rumors.”
Confirming the rumors was what Megan had originally intended. By doing so, she was one step closer to victory.
However, given that the relationship was fake, she never intended to go public with it. All she wanted was for the media to continue fueling the rumor.

Oozing Feminine Charm
After her eye shadow was done, Megan turned around and remarked, “It’s alright. I’ll still have to wear the accessory for a while. By the way, did you contact the producers of the romantic variety show you helped me arrange previously?”
Megan had rejected appearing on the show. However, after Jonas’ scandal broke out, she thought that appearing on it together with him was a good way to fuel the rumors further.
It would definitely benefit Jonas’ reputation. However, she would have to worry about how Jake was going to take it.
She didn’t want to be at the receiving end of his anger again. After all, she would just be asking for trouble.
Keeping her phone, Donna nodded. “I did. But this time, they were the ones who rejected us. They were concerned about Jonas’ scandal and worried that it might affect their ratings.”
The result was within Megan’s expectation.
Now that she was the one pleading for help instead of the other way round, the scales of self-interest were no longer tipped in her favor.
“Call them again and tell them that Jonas and I will be appearing together. On top of that, we will charge a quarter of our usual fees.”
As for her terms, she wasn’t feeling confident that the producers would accept them. But, despite the fear of negative repercussions, the producers couldn’t ignore the fact that both of them were still the two most popular male and female celebrities out there.
The potential reaction from combining both of them made them an obvious choice for anyone responsible for picking the cast.
“Isn’t that too little?” Donna widened her eyes in protest. After all, negotiating fees was her job as the manager and she felt that what Megan requested was just too low.
“Don’t worry. I have no interest in the show, to begin with. I’m only doing it to help Jonas.”
Megan didn’t care about the fees at all. After checking that her makeup was done, she patted Donna on the shoulders as if to reassure her. Without another word, she prepared to go on the show.
This time, they were filming the second episode of Let’s Run. Post-editing of the first episode had been completed and was being broadcast.
Just as expected, the show was a hit with the younger generation due to the fresh themes it explored.
Megan recalled that from the second episode onward, there would be a special guest invited onto the show. However, the director had yet to inform them who it was.
“Da*n it. What a shitty day. Why do I have to run into you here?”
Just when Megan left the makeup room, she saw Mia approaching in the opposite direction. Before she could say a word, Mia had beat her to it.
After tsk-tsking softly, she cursed in her heart. Looks like she’s more of a bit*h than a woman.

Looking around, Donna saw Mia hiding in the studio by accident. Feeling unsettled, she couldn’t help but inform Megan about it.
If Mia was there with them, they would definitely not be able to complete filming in peace.

Upon Jerry’s instruction, everyone in the studio took their positions. When the camera started rolling, Mia came in with another four celebrities after being introduced by the host.
For this episode, the theme was a horror-adventure mission. Despite the studio being equipped with some special items, most of the episodes would be filmed inside the secret chamber behind them.
“Alright everyone, remember to focus. All of you have gone through the script but you don’t have to be act rigidly. Remember to improvise!” the director reminded everyone.
Furrowing his eyebrows, he hoped that the program could be completed without a hitch. However, when his gaze fell upon Mia, he noticed that she was filing her nails and not paying attention.
In the face of her lackadaisical attitude, the director’s expression visibly changed. However, he didn’t reprimand her for it as they were in a hurry to start filming.
A few minutes later, when everything was in place, the filming of the second episode of Let’s Run began.
By drawing lots, the celebrities were separated into their respective groups. This time, Megan was unlucky enough to be placed together with Silas.
There was nothing wrong with him. She was just used to being placed with Tod every time. Tod was someone handsome and athletic. Every time he ran, he would exhibit an exceptional level of performance.

Walking beside Megan, Silas didn’t notice how nervous she was. Instead, he was focused on checking the walls and floor for clues with his torchlight.

“Mmm-hmm, I’ll tell you about it after we’re done filming.”
Cognizant that she was still being recorded, Megan quickly changed topics as she wasn’t willing to discuss it any further.
At that moment, Silas who was checking the surroundings found a lever. Turning around to look at Megan, he motioned her to come forward.
“Let’s pull this together. I feel that this is a mechanism for opening something.
Megan quickly ran up to him upon hearing his instructions. Without any hesitation, both of them pulled the lever on the wall. As a rumbling noise rang out, the wall behind them suddenly moved.
“What’s happening?”
Megan was stunned when she saw a path suddenly opening in front of her. However, when she regained her senses the next second, she couldn’t help but shriek.
“Ah!”
On the other side of the wall, she saw Tod and Mia running toward her. Both of them were fleeing for their lives as there was a white “ghost” chasing after them.
“Help!”
Mia was visibly pale with fright. When she saw Megan, she screamed hysterically as she ran toward her for cover. It was obvious that Tod couldn’t care less about her.
“Open the door!”
As Tod ran faster than Mia, he reached the door first and wanted to close the door behind him, leaving Mia to be eliminated by the “ghost”. From the look on his face, he had no intention of saving her at all.

Temporary Suspension
As Silas was closest to the button, he didn’t know what to do. Looking at Tod and Megan hesitantly, he saw the conflicted expressions on both their faces.
Hence, he couldn’t help but ask, “Do I push it?”
Furrowing his eyebrows, Tod didn’t like thinking too much as he had the temperament of a brute. Just when Mia was about to pass through the door, he decisively pressed the button to close it down.
“No!” Mia’s eyes were filled with panic as she desperately reached for the door. However, she had neither the strength nor speed to do so and could only watch as it slammed shut right in her face.
“Mia is out!”
When the system broadcasted the latest update, the three of them exchanged glances. Both Megan and Silas were puzzled at what just happened.
Tod and Mia are obviously teammates. So why do they seem to be in conflict with each other?
“What’s wrong? Did something happen between both of you?” Silas couldn’t help but ask out of curiosity.
Furrowing his eyebrows and grabbing his own hair in exasperation, Tod complained, “That woman is spoilt to the extreme. When we were supposed to cross a shallow man-made river earlier, she insisted I carry her on my back simply because she didn’t want to get her shoes wet.”
“Also, she kept speaking to me in such an annoying tone. ‘Tod, slow down. I’m afraid of the dark.’ ‘Tod, I’m a lady, it’s normal to take a break after every few steps.’ Do you know that I was on the brink of beating her to death if I hear another word from her?”
When both of them heard how Tod mimicked Mia’s way of speech, they couldn’t help but burst into a fit of laughter.
“How can you still laugh?”
When they realized how upset Tod was, Megan and Silas covered their mouths to keep their laughter down. However, their eyes squinted in glee instead.
“Huh, she really is famous for having a princess-like attitude. You should be pampering her instead!” Silas teased Tod cheekily while mocking Mia at the same time.
Having heard his words, Megan nodded in agreement and was delighted.
Mia had always liked to charm men with her damsel-in-distress voice. However, it didn’t work this time on someone as masculine as Tod.
When Megan recalled how smug Mia was when she talked about her looks, she figured this would be the first blow to Mia’s charm.
“Alright now. She has been eliminated anyway. So let’s quickly solve the puzzle.”
As Silas patted Tod on his shoulder to comfort him, the amusement he felt didn’t dissipate one bit. As for Megan, she followed them from behind in a jovial mood.
At that moment, the system announced, “The competition will now be temporarily suspended. Everyone, please gather at the entrance.”
As the announcement didn’t state the reason, the three of them exchanged glances and inexplicably had the same premonition.
Fill with curiosity, they arrived at the exit to find Bruce and the others already waiting there.

“I don’t know. We’ll just have to wait for Mr. Thompson.”
Frowning slightly, Megan looked in the direction of the OB van that was parked at the entrance. Subconsciously, the sense of dread she felt earlier reared its head again.
After waiting for a while, there was finally some movement coming from the vehicle. When the sound of footsteps was heard, Megan and the others turned to look in its direction.
“Isn’t that Mia?”
Donna quickly spotted her behind Jerry while Osmond was following them closely behind.
At the mention of Mia, Megan’s gaze turned cold. Raising her eyebrows with an indifferent expression, she could feel her heart sink.

Just as they expected, the reason the competition was suspended was that Mia was eliminated in less than a minute. Hence, Osmond would definitely have made a big fuss.
Megan figured that with Osmond’s influence, there was no way he would tolerate Mia being eliminated so easily in such a short time.
Hence, they would definitely see Jerry and protest the elimination.
“Gather around, everyone.”
With Mia and Osmond behind him, Jerry stopped in front of everyone. Silas’ sharp eyes noticed the gloomy expression on his face. His usually stern voice sounded dejected instead.

Snorting softly, Megan gave Mia the side-eye.
As everyone had only participated in one episode before this, they were actually no different from each other.
She protested, “Who isn’t new here? We have all joined for one episode only. Why does she deserve special treatment just because she threw a tantrum?”
Everyone present was aware that Megan and Mia were sisters. Hence, they felt that she was being too hard on Mia.
Tugging her arm, Silas shook his head with a frown to warn her not to act impulsively. However, Megan pulled her hand away in exasperation instead.
Due to Megan’s protest, the atmosphere suddenly changed. Everyone could feel the tension in the air.
When Osmond saw the anger in Megan’s eyes, he smirked in response.
As if the situation wasn’t incendiary enough, he fanned the flames further. “Why are you so dissatisfied? You were the one who insisted on breaking your contract with Starling Media and remain a nameless actress. So now, don’t complain that no one is speaking out for you.”
Sneering, Megan suppressed the rage within her so as to not embarrass herself in front of Mia.
Looking silently at Osmond, her haughty expression hid the pity she felt for him. If she had stayed at Starling Media, there would still not be anyone who would stand up for her. In other words, she would be worse off than she was now.
After all, Mia was the true star of the future for Starling Media while she was only a supporting character that could be cast aside anytime.
Raising her eyebrows, Megan collected herself and glared at him with contempt. Her gaze was so deep that he couldn’t tell what was on her mind.
She sneered, “Is that so? I hope you will keep this up. People who like to deceive themselves are usually the ones who fail quickly.”
After their heated exchange, neither of them was willing to back down, intensifying the tension in the atmosphere.
Despite everyone present being cowed by Osmond’s domineering aura, Megan remained calm and even sniped back at him.
All of them tried to sneak a peek at Megan and wondered what gave her the confidence to be so defiant.

Unable To Let Go
As Mia stared at Megan’s arrogant face, she could no longer hold back the anger welling up inside her.
She was already angry over the fact that Tod had eliminated her on purpose, thinking that Megan told him to do it. Hence, she wanted to teach Megan a lesson. However, if not for Osmond’s advice for her to stay out of it and focus on filming, she would have slapped Megan a long time ago.
What gives Megan the right to act so impudently? There’s no basis for her to feel proud.
As her expression darkened, Mia stared at Megan with disdain. “Megan, do you think you can act with such insolence forever just because you ingratiated yourself with Jake?” He is just fooling around with you.
Suddenly, Mia exposed the secret that Megan didn’t want everyone to know. After all, she had never leveraged her relationship with Jake to advance her self-interest.
The only reason she got close to him was just to prevent him from falling into Mia’s trap so that she could stay away from any potential trouble.

“You should repeat those words in front of Jake and we shall see if he chooses to cast me aside first or punish you instead. My advice to you is not to behave like a conniving b*tch and assume that every woman in the world is the same as you.”
The information implied by Megan’s words was so shocking that everyone kept looking between the two ladies. Now, it was clear that both sisters had fallen for Jake. However, only one of them was successful in snagging him.
“B*llshit! I never did that!”
Mia was so enraged that she lost her composure. The manner in which she swore made her sound like a country bumpkin. When Osmond heard her swearing crassly, he couldn’t help but frown.
“Mia, calm down and maintain your composure.”
Osmond’s words felt like a bucket of icy cold water was being splashed over her head. Biting her lip, she glared at Megan while mixed emotions filled her heart.
“Osmond, you cannot keep bowing to her! Furthermore, she is spewing lies!”
Having heard Mia’s words, Megan knew that she was going to deny the accusations but it definitely wasn’t going to be easy to do so.
Sneering, Megan looked at Mia intently. “Coincidentally, I took a few pictures of what happened that day. Shall I share them amongst our colleagues here?”
Despite how casually Megan spoke of the matter, it would result in huge losses for Mia by the millions if she were to lose the contracts for a few commercials. Therefore, she could not let the matter get out no matter what.
“Don’t you dare go overboard, Megan!”
Having no countermeasure, Mia pointed furiously at Megan. By then, she had already lost all composure.
Unfazed by her threats, Megan sneered in response. “Who is the one going overboard here? Since you openly cast doubt on my capabilities and background, it’s reasonable for me to return the favor to you.”
Watching the heated argument between them, no one dared to interfere given that they each had the support of powerful patrons.
As Jerry watched the drama unfold, he was utterly disappointed with the two of them. Both were equally unwilling to let go although one had the upper hand over the other.
What they couldn’t let go of wasn’t their familial relationship. Instead, it was the need to compete and compare against one another. All they cared about was money and power.
However, regardless of whether it was Starling Media or Jake, Jerry couldn’t be bothered as he was happy with where he was.

I Do Mind
“Stop. Are you done?”
When Jerry saw both of them finally falling silent, he swept his gaze around and stood up holding the script.
However, no one responded as they were all rendered speechless by what had just occurred. Not minding the silence at all, Jerry rambled on, “Just now, Mr. Swanson and I had a discussion. Mia’s screen time will be increased while Megan will be “caught” halfway and be eliminated.”
Just a few words alone was enough to dictate how the script and focus of the filming in the show would change.
It was now obvious that the director had decided to cast Megan in a supporting role for this episode.
Under such circumstances, there was no point in protesting further. Osmond had either offered some attractive terms or threatened him to do it.
Hence, Megan replied at once. “Alright, I accept it.”
Given how Megan agreed without any hesitation, Jerry stared at her in surprise and frowned.
Raising his eyebrows, the sad look in his eyes penetrated Megan’s heart. “I didn’t expect you to readily agree as I assumed that you would mind.”
Obviously, no one would believe it if she said she didn’t care. However, Megan was someone rational and knew that even if she minded, there was no way for her to turn the situation around.
Instead of embarrassing herself by protesting angrily, she figured she might as well have some fun and pretended not to care. That way, she would get on Mia’s nerves instead.
Raising her eyebrow, Megan collected her thoughts. Pretending to nod in acknowledgment, she replied calmly, “I do mind but I don’t want to delay work any further.”
“Stop pretending to be noble. It’s just nauseating.”
Rebutting her without hesitation, Mia’s eyes were filled with contempt. However, Osmond shot her a stern glance to warn her to keep her mouth shut.
Feeling upset, he was frustrated at what a loose cannon Mia was. Is it really so difficult for her to restrain herself for a little bit?
To be honest, Megan’s character and capability have far exceeded that of Mia. However, she is just too rebellious and doesn’t have a face that could launch a thousand ships.
Oblivious to what was going through Osmond’s mind, Megan glanced at Mia’s arrogant expression. Folding her arms, Megan then stared daggers at her.
“I am talking to Mr. Thompson and not you. As a woman, don’t you know what is restraint and respect? Furthermore, if I’m considered disgusting, then you will have a tough time finding someone in this world who is more disgusting than you are.”
Raising her eyebrow, Megan maintained a calm expression. After all, she was used to Mia causing trouble. Hence, she would never let any of Mia’s words hurt her.
Megan smiled when she saw how angry Mia was. As if it wasn’t enough, she added fuel to the fire. “However, I did recall you mocking me once on a flight for accepting a role in this variety show. You mentioned that it was a childish and crappy program. So why are you now clinging on to this show so desperately despite having been eliminated?”
When everyone heard Megan’s question, their expressions drastically changed. All of them glared at Mia with their hearts filled with animosity.
Just when she thought she had the upper hand over Megan, Mia didn’t expect to be suddenly stabbed in the back. With a darkened expression, she stood up awkwardly and scowled at Megan instead.
“Alright, that’s enough.”
When Jerry realized that they were going to start quarreling again, he quickly stood helplessly between them to calm things down. It was just as Megan had said, he too didn’t want work to be delayed any further.
“As long as she keeps her mouth shut, I won’t say a word.” Megan ignored Mia while standing aside without much care. Even her tone sounded aloof.
When she saw Megan’s condescending response, Mia was outraged. However, Osmond glared angrily at her, forcing her to keep a lid on her emotions. After all, he no longer wanted to hear another word from her.

He Hates Girls Like Mia
A short while later, filming continued once the production crew had made the necessary preparations. This time, Megan and Silas were eliminated quickly from another exit.
Megan had done it on purpose. Since Mia loved to be in the limelight so much, Megan decided to let her have all of it.
“We’re out. Sorry about the arrangement today.”
As Megan and Silas sat inside the OB van, both of them could see everything that was going on through the screens clearly.
So, this is what being a director feels like.
“Don’t be sorry.” Unlike Mia, Megan wasn’t overly sensitive. She waved her hand to show that she didn’t mind it at all. “At most, I’m just having a little less screen time. However, I’m a permanent guest on this show and will be here every episode. Once this one is over, it will be good riddance to Mia.”
Both Jerry and Silas could feel the animosity from Megan’s harsh words though they weren’t aware of how it came to be. Nevertheless, on the account of Jake and Jonas, they knew they had to say something to comfort her.
“It’s good that you think that way. I’ll allocate more screen time for you in the next episode. So, you don’t have to worry about it at all.”
Jerry casually patted Megan on the shoulder in an attempt to console her. The biased perception he had earlier of her had totally dissipated by now.
Having heard his offer, Megan nodded with a smile. Without saying anything further, she continued watching the screens.
As Mia had managed to gain more screen time via her manager’s unscrupulous methods, everyone seemed to be targeting her instead. As long as they saw her and Tod, they would attack them in groups.
Furthermore, the usually athletic Tod was visibly out of sorts today. Whenever he saw Mia about to be caught, he didn’t seem to care at all.
“Wow, Mia has been eliminated again.”
Pretending to be surprised while seated in her chair, Megan checked the time on her phone. She then realized that Mia had only spent half an hour more in the game compared to the first time.
It seems no one wants her to play as they are trying their best to get her eliminated from the show.
Silas was jolted when he heard Megan gasp. Looking to claim credit, he leaned over to her ear.
He whispered, “Mia is going to suffer in our hands. Before the game started, everyone agreed to get her eliminated as soon as possible. After all, all of us who started filming together felt that it was unfair for her to steal the limelight for no reason. Furthermore, she acted as if she deserved it.”
Having heard Silas’ words, Megan gave him a bewildered look.
She asked in disbelief, “Did everyone really agree to it?”
“Of course. We wanted to take revenge on your behalf!” With a gleeful expression, Silas threw his hands in the air like a kid. “Anyway, it’s just my way of thanking you for helping Jonas out.”
After hearing his words, Megan hung her head in disbelief. Filled with emotion, she averted her gaze from Silas’ glistening eyes as she clasped her fingers together.
At that moment, she felt her heart warm. Not because someone had thanked her, but because she seemed to have found a place where she belonged.
From her past life to the current one, she hardly had any friends. Other than Donna, there was simply no one else by her side.
Touched by their gesture, Megan’s usually dispassionate gaze lit up for once. Suddenly, something occurred to her as she asked curiously, “Did Bruce agree too?”
She remembered that there was still bad blood between them.
Unaware of the reason for her question, Silas pondered for a moment before nodding resolutely. “Yes. He hates girls like Mia. Besides, he thinks that you are prettier than her.”
Is that so?
Megan raised her eyebrows in disbelief. Despite the doubts she had in his taste, she could feel her resentment toward him dissipate.

A Terrible Partner
Before their seats were even warm in the OB van, Mia fumed as she dragged Tod over, having just been eliminated.
When Jerry saw her reddened face, his mind was filled with contempt. If it was Osmond who spoke to him, he was at least prepared to show him some respect. But if Mia wanted to do the same, he was simply going to ignore her.
“What’s the problem now? Why do you keep getting into trouble?” Jerry asked.
At that moment, Osmond coincidentally went to the loo. Unable to hold her temper back, Mia pointed angrily at Tod.
She complained, “This man isn’t a partner. He doesn’t care about me and caused me to be eliminated again. I don’t care! I demand a reshoot!”
While everyone present was stunned by her words, Megan looked at her as if she was a lunatic. Little did Mia know that Jerry had already done her a big favor by letting her reshoot the first time.
Even if Jacinta were here, she wouldn’t have the authority to ask Jerry for another reshoot. Hence, Mia’s request was simply too audacious.
“Mia, I feel that you may not be suited for variety shows.”
Trying hard to suppress his anger, Jerry’s gaze was so sharp that it could cut. However, Mia ignored the look in his eyes.
As Osmond had arm-twisted Jerry earlier, Mia felt the director lacked any real authority. Hence, there was no reason for her to treat him with respect.
“What’s the problem? Since you have reshot once, why can’t you do it again?”
Triggered by Mia’s impudence, Jerry’s expression darkened while his heart pounded in rage.
Why does such an insensitive person even exist? Does Mia even have a brain?
“Mia, why are you out here?”
At that moment, Osmond returned from the loo. When he saw the five of them at the OB van, he couldn’t help but narrow his eyes.
It seems something must have happened. She just can’t stop getting into trouble.
“Osmond! They are ganging up against me! After just filming for half an hour, they tried their best to get me eliminated.” The moment she saw Osmond, Mia seemed to have found her courage. Letting go of Tod’s hand, she put on a pitiful expression while storming out of the van.
Osmond wasn’t surprised by Mia’s words. When he saw the smug expressions on everyone’s faces, he sneered, “Don’t you dare mess around with me. This is nothing but a lowly variety show and yet, you are ganging up against her. Since we are not welcomed here, we will leave.”
Despite the animosity in his tone, Osmond was just trying to pave a way for Mia and him to leave without being humiliated.
After all, he was well aware that it would be impossible to ask for another reshoot. When he saw the look on everyone’s faces, it was obvious to him what had just happened.
Hence, he knew it was necessary to put on some airs so that they wouldn’t look bad while quitting the show.
Unfortunately, Mia was too dumb to understand the undercurrents of the situation. She had assumed that Osmond was just trying to stand up for her.
“Did you hear that? We don’t care about your lousy show. You had better hurry up and beg us to stay now!”
Her insolent words caused Osmond’s eyes to narrow. That was when he realized that she was the epitome of a terrible partner.
“Can you just shut up for once?”
Inside the OB van, Megan was amused by the exasperated look on Osmond’s face.
Despite being extremely capable, he was still unable to support an idiot like Mia.
“Enough, stop disgracing yourself and go back to the office at once!”
Osmond had wanted to help her leave with her pride intact. However, given how stupid she was, it would be enough for him that she wasn’t being ridiculed on the way out.
“But I…” Feeling aggrieved, she swept her gaze around the OB van. As anger and jealousy filled her heart, her feet were so heavy that she was unable to move them at all.
