‘Why is Professor Thompson calling me now?’ She answered the call.

"Professor Thompson?"

"Lily, are you free? I have something to discuss with you, face-to- face."

Since Thompson’s voice was low, and there were noises, he did not seem to be in the laboratory.

"What time?" Lily asked solemnly.

"Now.Do you have time?"

‘He’s in such a hurry, huh? Now, and face-to-face? It must be something serious."

"What's it about?" Lily asked thoughtfully.

"Well..."

Thompson hesitated momentarily and seemed reluctant to tell her.

"I'll tell you later since it’s hard to describe it over the phone.It’s about the lab’s experiment.I hope you can help!" He spoke earnestly.

Lily thought about it and ignored Dominic’s frantic waving.

Then she said, "All right.Name a place, and Ill go there right away."

"your house then.I’ll drive over now and should be there soon,"

Thompson added, "Wait at home and don’t go anywhere, okay?"

"But I’m not at home."

Lily was slightly puzzled, then threw Dominic a subconscious glance.

"Are you going there now? I’ll head back right away.How long will it take you to arrive? I’ll hurry."

"Okay, I'll wait for you if I reach there first.Otherwise, wait for me and don’t go anywhere, okay?"

He sounded strange, but Lily did not ask any more questions since she knew she would find out why when they met.

She nodded and said, "All right, I'll return immediately.Drive safely, okay?"

She hung up and hurriedly took her handbag.

Dominic quickly tried to stop her from leaving.

"You're really going?"

"Yes, Professor Thompson says he wants to discuss something with me.It might have something to do with Austin’s bizarre behavior over the past two days.Let me go back and find out what it’s all about," Lily said while nodding.

"You can’t! You already know something’s wrong at the lab, yet you're going to meet that professor? What if he’s going to harm you?"

Dominic was worried.

"Don’t forget that you barely made it out alive just moments ago.You shouldn’t take the risk!"

"Professor Thompson is an old man—even older than you!"

Lily said half-jokingly and chuckled.

"If he tries to harm me, he might be in danger instead, okay? Just relax."

Dominic frowned in disapproval.

"He’s old, but it doesn’t necessarily mean he’ll be alone! Did you forget about the killers just now? He might be the one who sent them! No, no, you mustn't go back!"

"If I don’t go back now, what about later or tomorrow or the day after?"

Lily knew she had no choice.

"I can’t be hiding in your place for the rest of my life! Just relax.Although I have no idea who those people were, they can’t just do anything they want in this country.

"The security system at my house is still passable, and there are bodyguards.It’s not as unsafe as you think!"

Lily gave her son’s cheek a gentle pinch.

"Mommy has to get going.

Be a good boy, and don’t monkey around, okay?"
