Austin was baffled. “Why do you want us to be alone? Is there anyone you don’t trust?”

He caught on right away.

Alexander shook his head. “I just want you to speak your mind without bothering about what others think. So, what do you think about the incident?”

“I feel we know too little about our world.” After a pause, he added, “However, I think it’s unlikely Rhea became invisible.”

“Then why did you tell us differently before this?”

“I think we should keep an open mind, but something doesn’t add up.” Austin did not think much of it, but he might as well tell Alexander about it since he asked.

“If Rhea had created a drug that could make her invisible, how did she open the door?” Austin asked emphatically. “It’s invisibility we’re talking about, not the ability to walk through walls.

Alexander chuckled. “Didn’t you say it’s nothing but horseshit?”

He poured Alexander a cup of tea and filled his own glass with wine.

Alexander nodded. “Sure!”

He glanced around and asked, “Where’s Galen?”

“He is playing in the back. I didn’t tell him you’d be coming, just in case you didn’t. I don’t want to disappoint him.” The older man was considerate.

Alexander felt bad knowing Galen must have missed him and Lily.

“I heard the twins have returned, huh?” Dominic asked after sipping his wine.

Alexander nodded. “Yes, they have!”

He was not surprised that Dominic knew because he knew Austin must have told him.

“That’s excellent news!” Dominic nodded, “I’m sure Lily will be next.”

“I’ve failed her.” Alexander finished his tea in one gulp. He could not drink alcohol to drown his sorrow since he drove here alone.

Dominic said without trying to console him, “Yes, you have. As her husband, you should ensure her safety. Even if she’s strong enough to look after herself, there’s no point in marrying you if you can’t care for her, right?”

“You’re right.” Alexander lowered his head, agreeing with the older man.

Dominic lifted his glass and said, “I’m not trying to tell you off but to state a fact. Of course, I know what Lily’s like. She’s stubborn as a mule, and you can’t change her mind once she has decided something. I guess you two haven’t prepared yourselves for this shit.”

Alexander knew that was something Dominic had wanted to say for quite some time.

“How did you—” “How did I know you’re taking him back?” Dominic snorted.

“ Since the twins have returned home, I figured you would want to bring Galen back too.” Having expected this, the older man grew sentimental.

“ Nowadays, even a family reunion is hard to come by, isn’t it?” Alexander looked saddened as well.

Not quite getting it, Galen asked, “Have my brother and sister returned? Has Mommy returned?” “Mommy hasn’t come back yet.” Alexander held his son’s shoulders with both hands and said thoughtfully, “She still has something to do.

The guards were probably stunned by her abruptness and commanding presence, so they did as she said.

“I’ll go by myself,” Lily spoke dismissively.

The guards looked at Fred, who gestured for them to oblige her.

When Lily passed by Fred, he instinctively stepped backward. Lily chuckled when she noticed he was scared.

“What are you laughing at?” Fred snarled with a frown. To him, Lily’s laughter always carried a hint of unsettling mockery.

After laughing, she asked, “Do you know that everyone has a weakness?”

Puzzled, Fred narrowed his eyes. “What do you mean?”

“I just wanted you to know you have a weakness, too.” Lily looked at him and spoke meaningfully, “If others find out about it…”

She let out an indifferent chuckle at the end.

Fred felt a chill run down his spine and exclaimed, “I have no weakness! Stop playing mind games with me, got it? You’re going to fucking die soon! You’ve tricked me once. I won’t fall for it the second time!”

Lily dug her ear, looking calm. “Okay, okay. Why do you have to shout? Are you telling me that, or you’re trying to warn yourself?”

She walked off.
