With that thought in mind, he asked his men to stake out Fabian’s house. Still, they discovered nothing after two days. Cameron then decided to see if he could get any helpful information from Fabian.

“Why would Rhea want to hide?” Fabian blinked again, then thought of something. “You’re trying to catch her?”

“Yes. Rhea broke the law, after all. If we can arrest her and determine she was behind all this, you can leave the place soon,” Cameron said seriously. He exaggerated slightly, but it was indeed so.

If Fabian weren’t the mastermind, he would receive a reduced sentence.

“You’re asking me to betray my daughter?” He looked conflicted.

“I wouldn’t call it a betrayal. Rhea has committed a crime, so she’s not a hero! If she gets away with this, she will end up harming more people!” Cameron said seriously.

“No, I’ve no idea.” Shaking his head, Fabian turned around and leaned against the bars as he slid down. He shook his head again, saying, “I don’t know anything.”

“Fabian, it’ll be too late for Rhea if we don’t stop her. You can still make amends if you help us apprehend her now!” Cameron said as he stared at Fabian’s back

Fabian shook his head. “I honestly have no idea. I wouldn’t tell you even if I did. Even if she used me, she’s still my daughter. How can I sell her out?” He murmured as if talking to himself.

“You…” Cameron was angry but could do nothing. He hammered the bar, then sighed, saying, “Maria’s ill.”

Fabian’s eye twitched, but he remained still.

Cameron looked at him and continued, “We’ve seized your house. I told Tasia to tell Maria to stay at the apartment in the suburb for now. It’s clean and less crowded. A good place to free her mind from overthinking.”

“Gee, what would I do without you?” Fabian said coldly, his tone dripping with sarcasm.

Cameron sighed and asked, “Did you know that Maria and Rhea once locked me inside a secret room in your garage?”

Fabian was stunned and feigned ignorance.

“Fabian, they’ve done many things behind your back, especially Rhea. Your daughter…” Cameron sighed.

Fabian called his name indifferently, “Ron.”

Fabian slowly turned to look at Cameron. “You were obsessed with building your career, so my sister had to care for the family alone. She almost fell into depression. After she died, we helped you care for Tasia.

“Rhea has only got astray because we neglected her. What about you? You got what you wanted yet refused to help me despite what I had done for many years. Ron, You’re more heartless than Rhea.”

Cameron was speechless.

Fred said emphatically, “I don’t care how many people Rhea harmed. She has never hurt me or her mother. She’s my daughter, so I won’t tell you anything. Just get the hell out of my face!”

When Cameron’s footsteps faded, he looked at the ceiling and sighed. Fabian would never tell Cameron anything, even if he knew something. He knew it was pointless to count on Cameron to save him now.

‘Someone like Cameron only cares about the law, but Rhea’s different. I might have a chance to escape if she can cause enough trouble.’

After so many years, Fabian realized he could never depend on outsiders. Instead, his daughter had become his only hope.

Back in the car, Cameron looked grim.

Anastasia saw his expression and thought momentarily before saying, “Uncle Fabian refused to talk? Should I go talk to him?”

“It’s okay.” Cameron shook his head and sighed. With Fabian’s words still echoing, Cameron looked over his shoulder at his daughter.

‘What would you do if she committed a crime? Would you report her to the police?’

If it were the past, Cameron would have said yes. Nothing was more important than justice to him. However, after seeing Anastasia's concerned expression, he remembered how much he owed his wife.

‘Would I be able to punish Tasia if she committed a crime? I’m not sure what I’d do. I guess I’ll only find out if it ever happened someday.

“Uncle Fabian might not know the answer since he hasn’t been close to Rhea. How about I ask Aunt Maria instead?” Anastasia asked thoughtfully. She was eager to help her father.

“Aren’t you afraid she might tell you off?” Cameron knew that had happened last time. He patted his daughter’s head and said, “It’s okay. I’ll look for other ways.”

“No.” Cameron shook his head and said, “She has no idea who’s behind the organization.”

‘Rhea tried working with Mike to find out where the organization is or whom to contact. It shows she knows nothing about it. If so, she wouldn’t have gone to the embassy, right?’

Cameron didn’t voice his thoughts, while Anastasia wondered where Rhea could hide.

‘Rhea has no home to return to and is wanted by the police. It’s not easy to find a safe place. She also needs food to survive, so where can she be?’

“But you’re going to die! Your body will live on, but you’re no longer yourself without your consciousness and soul.” Ironically, Rhea seemed more anxious, even though Lily would face this.

Lily nodded calmly. “I don’t give a shit. As I said, everyone dies sooner or later.”

“What about your kids? Based on what I know, you already have three children, right? If you die, they’ll lose their mom forever!” Rhea asked tentatively, unconvinced that Lily meant what she said.

Rhea was disappointed because she thought Lily would break down in fear. However, the latter was calm and even looked forward to the experiment.

‘How can she remain so calm and indifferent? She must be faking it!’

With that thought in mind, Rhea purposely mentioned Lily’s children to agitate her.

Lily raised her brow and said, “Of course, I feel bad for them.”

Before Rhea could gloat, she added, “But many children are far worse off than them. Some have neglectful parents, and others don’t even have parents. My children are much luckier than those kids. Don’t you think so?

Rhea was surprised and at a loss for words.

Lily shook her head. “How do you know I no longer have the chance while you do?”

“Stop speaking in riddles!” Rhea narrowed her eyes. “Do you even realize what’ll happen to you?”

“Save your concern for yourself, okay?” Lily shook her head, having nothing more to say to Rhea. As she turned away, she thought about something and looked over her shoulder at Rhea. “So you willingly walked into the trap?”

“You—” Upset, Rhea stopped herself and took a deep breath. “Being the lapdog of someone with power is better than being a nobody. Do you think you’re better than me? No matter how influential your husband is, he still couldn’t save you, could he?”

Rhea tilted her head and sized up the room. “Why don’t you beg me to fulfill your last wishes? Perhaps I might help you when I feel like it?”

However, Lily had closed her eyes to rest and ignored her.

With no one to quarrel with, Rhea soon felt bored. She was also curious why they had brought her here.

Surprised, Alexander looked at Cameron, who nodded at him. “Well, as you wish then… Ross.”

The prince laughed.

“Take a seat. You must be tired after all the functions. It’s time to relax,” Cameron said and beckoned.

Alexander nodded. “Yes, come have a drink.”

However, before he could open a bottle of wine, one of Ross’s men examined the drinks and inspected the room. After ensuring everything was safe, the bodyguard nodded at the prince and left.

As guards stood at the door and the prince was safe, such actions seemed overly cautious.

“It’s not that we don’t trust you guys, but that’s the protocol,” Ross explained.

Alexander nodded repeatedly. “It’s okay, I understand.”

After exchanging pleasantries, the straightforward Ross said, “Ron has told me about Fred, but I need to look into it first.”

Cameron nodded. “Well, you should. We just wish you could hurry up a bit. Otherwise…”

Cameron shook his head. “I’m just stating the fact, and you know it.”

Ross fell silent and became thoughtful.

Alexander exchanged looks with Cameron and said, “The impact will be huge. Besides, we visited the embassy twice and didn’t see Her Majesty. I wonder if you’ve kept in touch with the queen or lost contact with her lately.”

“She always stays in the Royal Palace of Yudonia. You wouldn’t see her in the embassy, of course,” Ross lowered his gaze and said blandly, “You worry too much.”

“I thank you in advance, then!” Ross smiled and downed his wine.

From that moment, Cameron refrained from discussing Fred or the experiments. As if it was just a casual gathering, they only talked about recent amusing news, beautiful places, delicious cuisine, etcetera.

Alexander understood it meant the discussion had ended, and Ross knew what to do next. The former would take a similar approach as Cameron if it were up to him. However, Alexander was restless since the matter concerned Lily.

He placed great hope in Ross. If he got involved, things would get relatively easier.

“Because I can wait, but not Lily. If Fred begins the experiment now, then she…” He could not finish his sentence. He would become anxious whenever he thought about the scenario.

Alexander nodded. “I know. How many days will Prince Ross stay in Hyderland?”

After some thought, Cameron answered, “He told people three days, but there might be slight changes, I guess.”

After all, Ross could adjust his schedule.

Alexander nodded. “I got it.”

“Well, keep me in the loop if there are any updates,” Cameron said, then got into the car that had been waiting for him.

Alexander waved goodbye, gazing after the car as it went away.

Fred did not discover any helpful information after staring at the monitor. He suddenly thought of locking Rhea and Lily up together, hoping the former would reveal any secrets he did not know about.

However, it was a pointless endeavor. Rhea only went on with nonsense as she argued with Lily.

Now, the two women sat apart and ignored each other.

Seeing them through the surveillance monitor, Fred said into the microphone, “Take Rhea back to her room.”

After a moment of thought, Fred asked, “Does that mean he might not match up and be unusable?"

"That’s correct." After a pause, the person continued, "However, he’s highly compatible regarding blood type and other data. Relatively speaking, the probability of him being a match is very high."

“There’s no rush. I still have time.”Fred looked grim but not anxious.
