Chapter 2250
With Nathaniel putting it that way, there was no way Mr. Chandler could refuse.
“Alright, Mr. Rainsworth. If you want it, I can give it to you for free,” Mr. Chandler said with a broad, generous smile.
“That won’t be necessary. I’ll buy it at ten times the market price,” Nathaniel replied.
Mr. Chandler froze. “Ten times?”
“Yes.”
“You’d be taking a huge loss. There’s nothing special about that piece of land,” Mr. Chandler said.
“Don’t worry. I won’t lose, and neither will you,” Nathaniel answered calmly.
At that point, Mr. Chandler didn’t hesitate. “Alright. However you want to do it, we’ll do it your way.”
After hanging up, Nathaniel instructed his subordinate to finalize the agreement.
That same evening, after work, Nathaniel brought Cecilia and the rest of the family back to Rainsworth Manor.
When Wren heard the land had been secured, he was overjoyed.
Elena, however, sat off to the side, unsettled. She had already told Nathaniel the truth about the situation—so why had he still gone to Mr. Chandler?
“Nathaniel, how much did you spend on that land?” she asked.
Nathaniel answered without hesitation, “Ten times the market price.”
“Ten times?!” Elena blurted. “Wasn’t that just a patch of wasteland? How did it get that expensive? Mr. Chandler must be taking advantage of you because you’re young.”
As she spoke, she reached for the phone, ready to call Mrs. Chandler and demand answers.
Wren stopped her. “Mr. Chandler refused to sell before, no matter what. He finally agreed, and now you want to stir things up? Just leave it alone.”
Nathaniel added, “The contract’s already signed. Since Dad said it’s for expanding the ancestral tombs, spending a little extra doesn’t matter.”
“Besides, Mr. Chandler didn’t want to sell. I had to convince him.”
Hearing that, Elena finally relented.
“Since the land issue is settled,” Wren said, “I’ll call Robert over so we can discuss expanding the ancestral tombs.”
Elena immediately objected. “He didn’t help with anything. Why call him over—so he can boss everyone around?”
Wren’s expression darkened. “Why do you always talk like that? My brother already said if the land could be bought, he’d pay for it himself.”
“Great. Then call him over and have him pay for Mr. Chandler’s land,” Elena shot back. She had no intention of letting her son take the loss. Their side of the family had already sacrificed enough over the years.
Wren ignored her. He picked up his phone and called Robert, inviting him over for dinner and to discuss expanding the ancestral tombs.
The moment Robert heard, he agreed immediately and rushed over.
He never would’ve guessed that once Nathaniel stepped in, Mr. Chandler would agree so quickly. The difference between people really was staggering.
Robert arrived in a sharp suit, a wide smile on his face as he walked in.
“Nathaniel really knows how to get things done. He secured that land so fast. I’m becoming more useless by the day,” he said.
Nathaniel’s expression remained unchanged.
“You’re too modest, Uncle. I only got it because I spent a lot of money.”
“How much?” Robert asked, assuming it couldn’t be more than slightly above market price.
“Ten times,” Nathaniel said flatly.
Robert’s expression shifted. “That much?”
“Yeah.” Nathaniel exhaled lightly. “It couldn’t be helped. My dad said that place has excellent feng shui, perfect for expanding the ancestral tombs. I’m planning to hire workers tomorrow and start construction right away. What do you think, Uncle?”
The moment Robert heard Nathaniel was serious about expanding the ancestral tombs, he quickly stepped in to stop him.
