Chapter 2260

“Nathaniel, Cecilia.”

In the distance, Chelsea stood there in a sharp, professional suit, greeting them.

Before either of them could respond, she walked straight over.

“What is it?” Nathaniel asked, getting straight to the point.

Seeing that, Chelsea nodded. “Yeah. I want to talk to Cecilia for a minute. Is that okay?”

Another person here to pull his wife away. Nathaniel’s expression immediately cooled, but there wasn’t much he could say.

“Ceci, keep it short and come back quickly.”

“Okay, okay.”

Cecilia looked at him helplessly. He had gotten way too clingy lately.

After Nathaniel left, Cecilia led Chelsea to a quieter corner where no one would disturb them.

Only then did she ask, “What’s going on?”

“Cecilia… I’m really confused right now.”

Chelsea spoke slowly.

“Do you think choosing Jason was the right decision or the wrong one?”

Cecilia had already guessed this was about a relationship.

That made it harder to answer.

“Why are you thinking like this all of a sudden?” she asked.

Chelsea finally explained.

“He’s been really busy lately. I can see how hard he’s pushing himself, and I can’t help at all. Honestly, he could’ve had an easier life, but he chose me. If my parents hadn’t set such high expectations for him, he wouldn’t have to work this hard.”

Cecilia had thought it was something serious.

Turns out, it was this.

“Chelsea, speaking as someone who’s already a mother, let me tell you this.”

“Your parents want Jason to succeed. That’s only natural. No parent wants their child to struggle. You understand that, right?”

Chelsea nodded.

“I do, but…”

“Then why are you doubting things now? Didn’t you really like Jason before? Weren’t you determined to be with him? You’re not backing off over something like this, are you?”

Cecilia genuinely couldn’t understand what she was thinking.

“No. I’m just afraid that if he doesn’t succeed, he’ll blame me.”

Chelsea finally voiced what had been weighing on her.

Over the past few days, with her parents finally easing up, things between her and Jason had moved quickly.

Everything that was meant to happen between them had already happened.

And because of that, her thoughts had started spiraling.

“First, you need to trust him. He’s the man you chose—he’s not going to fail that easily. And second, he loves you. If he’s willing to give things up for you, then he’s not the kind of person who would turn around and blame you.”

Cecilia spoke to her like an older sister, steady and reassuring.

Hearing that, the tension in Chelsea’s chest finally eased.

She nodded firmly. “Okay. I understand now. Thank you, Cecilia.”

“It’s nothing. This is a small issue.”

“Oh, right—the money I borrowed from you… it might take me a little longer to pay it back.”

It wasn’t until Chelsea started working that she realized how hard it was to earn money.

Cecilia nodded. “That’s fine. Just pay me back when you can. I’m not short on money right now.”

Only then did Chelsea fully relax.

They chatted a little longer about how things had been going lately, then Chelsea finally left.

Cecilia headed back inside.

Meanwhile, Nathaniel couldn’t sit still.

He kept glancing toward the door.

Even Jonathan couldn’t help commenting, “Mom’s just outside talking. She’s not going to disappear.”

Nathaniel still didn’t relax until Cecilia walked back in.

The moment he saw her, he stood up and went straight to her.

“Why did you take so long?”

Cecilia glanced at the time. It had only been a little over ten minutes.

“It wasn’t even that long. Why are you so anxious?”

Before Nathaniel could answer, Elliot piped up from the side.

“Mommy, let me tell you—while you were out talking to Aunt Chelsea, stinky Dad kept looking outside every few seconds. It was like he thought she was going to kidnap you and run off with you.”

Nathaniel turned and shot Elliot a cold look.
