Chapter 2265
Mr. Sven had been keeping tabs on Magnus, so he knew exactly what had been going on.
Ever since Magnus married Denise, Cecilia hadn’t paid much attention to him anymore.
Now that she’d reached out again, she asked Mr. Sven for a general update.
He sent over a video.
In it, Magnus was hauling crates of fruit alongside the workers, while Denise stood nearby, wiping the light sweat from his forehead.
The closeness between them was unmistakable.
“Looks like Magnus really has changed,” Lucille said. “He’s actually doing the heavy lifting himself.”
The old Magnus had been nothing more than a spoiled rich kid, wasting his days partying.
He wouldn’t have lifted a finger before—but now he worked like anyone else.
Cecilia nodded. “Yeah. Probably because of Denise.”
It was clear Magnus cared deeply about her.
“Looks like letting him struggle a bit wasn’t the wrong decision after all. More importantly, he met a good woman,” Cecilia said.
Lucille nodded. “That’s what people mean when they say a good wife brings prosperity to the family.”
Cecilia smiled. “That’s called having virtue.”
She didn’t continue the conversation.
Instead, she picked up her phone and called Magnus back.
It took a while before he answered.
When he did, he sounded out of breath. “Hello, sis. What’s wrong? Was there something off about the fruit?”
“The fruit’s great. I just tried some. I called to say thank you.”
“Come on, why thank me? We’re family. You’ve taken care of me since we were kids. Now I’ve got my own work and my own family, and there’s not much I can do for you. Sending you something to eat is the least I can do,” Magnus said slowly.
Now that he had a family, even the way he spoke felt steadier.
Cecilia felt genuinely happy for him.
“You’re doing really well. Keep it up.”
“Okay.”
Only then did Magnus hang up.
Lucille leaned in. “I could hear people moving things around on his end. He must be really busy.”
“Mm.” Cecilia nodded. “He can handle a lot more than he used to.”
Lucille agreed. “I just hope he lives well.”
After hanging up, Magnus went right back to loading fruit with the workers.
Denise looked at him. “What is it? Did your sister not like it?”
“No. She’s actually a good person. She just called to thank me.”
Denise nodded. “That’s good. She’s helped you so much—you should treat her well.”
Magnus nodded. “I know. Honey, you’re really a good person.”
Denise smiled softly. “Most people are. There just aren’t that many bad ones.”
The clarity in her words made something in Magnus sink deep inside.
If he had met her back then, he might not have known how to cherish her.
But now, everything felt right.
He had met the right person at the right time.
“Honey, I love you.”
Denise’s face flushed. “Alright, get back to work.”
“Okay.”
Magnus turned and went back to it.
Denise watched him, thinking over everything that had happened.
Their business was finally picking up. Her parents were almost fully recovered.
Before long, their whole family would be together, living the life they were meant to.
Everything was moving in the right direction.
Tudela had started to warm up.
Spring had arrived, and everything was coming back to life.
Over the weekend, Cecilia went out with Nathaniel and their four children.
The weather was bright and warm, flowers blooming everywhere.
She took them to visit Regas’s grave.
“Dad, can you see this? I’m doing really well now. You don’t have to worry about me anymore.”
The two older children knelt in front of the headstone and bowed.
“Grandpa, it would’ve been so nice if you were still here. Then you could’ve played with us too,” Elliot said.
