Chapter 2264
Cecilia gave a small nod. “Mm.”
She sat back down.
Not long after, Lucille hurried in, her face bright with excitement, though a hint of confusion lingered.
“Ceci, do you know what just happened? The moment those old fossils heard that Mr. Rainsworth made the final call, not a single one of them dared question it. They all agreed immediately.”
Lucille couldn’t help looking at Nathaniel differently.
In business, he really was that kind of rare genius.
Sometimes, just his name was enough.
Even those stubborn old men wouldn’t push back.
“I figured,” Cecilia said with a sigh. She glanced at Nathaniel. “If I’d known, I would’ve just said from the start that you approved it. They wouldn’t have dared say a word.”
As she looked at him, she couldn’t help but measure the gap again.
When would her own name carry that kind of weight—where people trusted it the moment they heard it?
She let out a quiet breath.
Just then, her phone rang.
Cecilia glanced at the screen, and her expression shifted.
It was Magnus.
She had no idea why he was calling.
“Hello.”
She hesitated for a moment, then answered.
“Cecilia, are you busy right now?” Magnus asked.
“I’m at work. What is it?” she replied.
“Nothing much. Didn’t I start a fruit company recently? I had some seasonal fruit sent over for you to try. Don’t worry—it’s the best quality, completely clean and safe.”
The moment she heard that, Cecilia refused.
“No need. I can buy fruit anytime. You don’t have to send me anything.”
After everything that had happened, she always assumed Magnus had an ulterior motive.
Because of that, she didn’t dare accept anything from him.
“How can that be? It’s just a small gesture. Besides, before I called, I already had it delivered to your company. It should be arriving about now,” Magnus said.
Cecilia’s mouth twitched.
He had done it on purpose—leaving her no room to refuse.
She waited, expecting him to reveal his real intention.
Instead, he said, “Alright, I won’t keep you. I still have work to do. Try it and see if you like it. If you do, I’ll send more next time.”
Then he hung up without asking for anything.
Cecilia sat there for a moment, caught off guard.
Soon after, a call came from the front desk—there was a large fruit delivery downstairs.
“Do you want it brought up?” Lucille asked.
Cecilia nodded. “Yeah. Go take a look first.”
“Okay.”
Lucille hurried downstairs. The moment she arrived, she saw box after box of fruit being unloaded.
There was no way she could carry it all alone.
She snapped a photo and sent it to Cecilia.
“Ceci, look at all this fruit. Do you want all of it brought upstairs?”
If Cecilia said yes, Lucille was ready to call security and whoever else she could to help carry it.
Even Cecilia was surprised when she saw the photo.
She replied, “No need. Distribute it to everyone in the company. Just keep one box for me.”
Now that it had already been delivered, sending it back would only be trouble.
And there was simply too much of it.
Lucille followed her instructions, calling a few people to help distribute the fruit across departments.
Magnus had been generous—everything he sent was high quality and in excellent condition.
Cecilia kept a box of lychees for herself. They were fresh and tasted great.
But even as she ate, the box weighed on her mind.
People didn’t give that much for no reason.
What exactly was Magnus after?
She picked up her phone and called Mr. Sven—the man she had assigned to keep an eye on Magnus.
