Chapter 2275

“You don’t deserve to be my son!”

The moment Miranda spat that out, she turned and stormed off without another glance.

Felix stayed where he was, his head slowly dropping.

Seeing him like that, Daniel stepped in gently. “Don’t take your mom’s words to heart. Adults have their bad days too.”

Felix nodded. “Yeah… I know.”

He was used to it.

After all these years, one thing had become painfully clear—Miranda had always looked down on both him and his father.

Felix’s eyes turned red.

He stared toward the doorway where Miranda had disappeared, his vision blurring as tears threatened to fall.

Jonathan watched everything, and the edge in him softened.

“I’m sorry.”

He walked over to Felix. “I shouldn’t have hit you.”

This time, he meant it.

No one was born bad.

Felix hadn’t been, either.

Hearing that, Felix couldn’t hold it in anymore. Tears spilled down his face.

“Jon… can we still be friends?”

Jonathan let out a quiet breath. “If you behave from now on and stop bullying people… then yeah, maybe we can.”

Felix’s eyes lit up. He nodded quickly.

“Okay, I promise. I won’t bully Dante or anyone else again.”

Jonathan gave a small nod. “If you say it, mean it. Don’t go back on your word. Otherwise, you’re on your own.”

“Okay.”

Watching the two boys make up so easily, Cecilia felt a sense of relief.

Daniel smiled. “See? Kids fight and make up—it’s not such a big deal. They don’t hold onto things the way adults do.”

Cecilia nodded. “Thank you for your help, Teacher.”

“It’s nothing. As long as the kids are okay, that’s what matters.”

After exchanging a few more words, Cecilia finally stepped out.

The moment she walked outside, she saw that Miranda hadn’t actually left.

She was standing in front of Nathaniel, talking to him about something.

When Miranda noticed Cecilia, her expression shifted ever so slightly.

Cecilia caught it and walked over.

“Miranda, what were you two talking about?”

Miranda’s face stiffened for a split second before she forced a smile. “Nothing, Ceci. Don’t take what happened earlier to heart. We’re both mothers—you understand how important our children are.”

Cecilia nodded. “Of course.”

“I wouldn’t get upset over something like that.”

She paused, then added calmly, “But you should pay more attention to Felix. He doesn’t seem to be in a good place. I don’t think he’s very happy.”

Miranda’s expression tightened.

“You don’t need to worry about my son.”

With that, she turned and walked off quickly.

Cecilia watched her leave, her thoughts lingering on Felix.

After Miranda was gone, she turned to Nathaniel.

“What exactly did she say to you just now?”

She couldn’t understand it—Miranda barely cared about her own child, yet still found time to meddle in others’ lives.

Nathaniel noticed the change in her expression and reached out, taking her hand.

“Miranda said… besides Nicholas, you’ve also been involved with quite a few other men.”

“What?”

Cecilia’s eyes widened in disbelief.

“Which men? Did she actually name anyone?”

Even she had no idea who those so-called “other men” were supposed to be.

Miranda really could fabricate anything.

Cecilia clenched her fists.

Nathaniel gently pried her fingers open, one by one.

“Relax. I believe you. I won’t take anything she says seriously.”

“Well, obviously. If you did, I’d hit you,” Cecilia shot back, half-joking.

The corner of Nathaniel’s lips curved.

“Dummy.”

“You’re the idiot.”
