Ch. 1731..1735

Chapter 1731

John stood outside the door, looking at her side profile, and asked softly, “Feeling better?”

“Yeah,” Sherry replied and limped inside.

“You're hurt. I'll wash Caprice up instead.”

The man then strode into her room before her and picked Caprice, who had woken up, off the bed to go to the bathroom. Sherry pursed her lips in silence.

Awhile later, Caprice came out in fresh new clothes.

John was behind the girl and was looking at the woman with a soft gaze. “Let's go have breakfast. Caprice wants to go to her favorite sandwich joint.”

Sherry simply hummed a reply. They arrived at the sandwich joint and had a simple breakfast.

After breakfast, Sherry kissed Caprice on the cheek and said softly, “Caprice, Mommy is going to work. Be a good girl and stay with Daddy. I’ll come back when I’m done, okay?”

Caprice protruded her lips and kissed her on the cheek as well. She answered meekly. “Okay.”

Sherry smiled and passed the girl to John.

John held Caprice in his arms and looked at Sherry “Go, I'll wait for your good news at home with Caprice.” Sherry’s eyes flickered. “Mm-hmm.” She got into the car

A few traffic lights and turns later, she arrived at the Sager’s company. Since her leg was hurt, she had to limp her way inside the lobby.

As soon as she stepped into the lobby, she ran into Aiden.

In his expensive suit, he looked like a rich man’s dog who exuded arrogance. He widened his eyes when he saw Sherry. Shocked, he asked, “Ms. Fowler, what happened to you? Why are you limping?”

If he did not have the gloating smile on his face, he might have sounded more sincere. Sherry glared at him and continued limping forward.

Aiden trailed her like the dog that he was. He saw the light bruise on her face and added, “What happened to your face? Did someone hit you?”

He raised his voice as he went on as though he was afraid that others could not hear him. His voice unsurprisingly attracted passers-by’s attention, and they turned their heads to Sherry.

Sherry furrowed her brows coldly and glared at Aiden.

Aiden feigned a ‘caring” look and continued, “Ms. Fowler, what happened to you? It has just been a day since | saw you, and you are crippled and you have a bruise on your face. Did you get beaten up?” As soon as his words subsided, more passers-by paused and looked at Sherry curiously.

Forced to stop, Sherry looked at the annoying man and said coldly, “Yeah. | was beaten up.”

Aiden looked shocked. He did not expect Sherry to remain calm and acknowledge it brazenly. He added, “Who did it? And why?” Sherry looked into his eyes and said, “Some thugs. | don’t know why they beat me up, but I’ve lodged a police report.” Aiden’s eyes flickered.

The thugs that he hired informed him last night that they had slapped her on the face and wanted to do more but were forced to leave when her men brought backup. He assumed Sherry knew it was him and wanted to scare him off by saying that she had lodged a police report

Aiden regained his gloating smile and asked, “Did the police catch them?” Sherry said, “Not yet.”

Aiden sighed. “Why did some thugs beat you without a reason? You've devoted your time to helping the company, and | have never seen you offending anyone.”

Sherry remained quiet and watched the man’s performance. Soon, he switched the topic and added, “Ms. Fowler, is it because you always frequent nightclubs and get into trouble there?” He was obviously trying to paint her private life as messy and filthy

As soon as his words subsided, the passers-by looked at Sherry with mixed feelings. Those who were with Aiden even wore scornful grins on their faces.

Chapter 1732

Sherry clenched her teeth

Just when she wanted to argue, hurried footsteps came from the crowd.

In the blink of an eye, Carl’s towering figure appeared before her

“Sis, what happened to your face? And your leg?” Carl looked at her worriedly. Sherry looked slightly relieved. She said, I’m fine.”

Aiden immediately said, “Carl, thank God you are here. | was asking Ms. Fowler about her condition, and she said there were some thugs who beat her up. | was wondering why would someone beat her up without a reason. | think it’s because she messed with the wrong person at the nightclubs that she always goes to.”

Carl's expression shifted. His charming eyes were overflowing with viciousness when he glared at Aiden. “What did you say? Say that in my face again.

Sherry knew Carl's temper well. If Aiden repeated what he said in front of Carl, Carl would definitely beat him up.

She pulled Carl to the side and then said to Aiden, “Aiden, | think the answer might disappoint you As you said, | devote my time to the company. Other than visiting the nightclubs for business purposes, | never set foot in any of them during my private time.”

Aiden raised his brow. “Then, why did the thugs beat you up instead of everyone else? Or is it because you have a beatable’ face?”

Sherry clenched her teeth and held Carl back from punching the man.

Amoment later, she curled her lips and said, “Aiden, you look like a pervert, yet no one has ever hit you in the face. Why would someone beat me up instead?”

Aiden was slightly stunned but regained his composure swiftly He stared at her lightly bruised face and scoffed, “Then, why would the thugs beat you up without any reason?”

“They were instructed to.” Aiden’s eyes flickered. He played along with her words and said, “Who would do such a thing?” Sherry looked straight into his eyes. “You.”

Aiden’s expression changed. “Ms. Fowler, mind your words. You and | might have conflicts from time to time, but we both work for the company. Why would | instruct some thugs to beat you up?”

Sherry scoffed. “Why so serious? I’m just joking. The bastard who instructed the thugs to beat me up is definitely a piece of shit who doesn’t have the balls to stand up to his act. You look like a bastard, but | believe it isn’t you.”

Aiden’s lips twitched helplessly. He chuckled awkwardly and said, “Of course. How could it be me?” Sherry scoffed. “Then, please step aside. | have to go to work.” Carl stood by Sherry’s side and glared at Aiden viciously.

Aiden was obviously disheartened and defeated, but he could not do anything else. He stepped aside and allowed Sherry to pass.

Sherry dragged Carl along and entered the elevator

Aiden’s expression turned cold. He switched his attention to the people around him and bellowed, “Why are you people standing here? Go back to work or I'll fire all of you!”

The crowd scattered like startled birds, returning the lobby to its peaceful and quiet state.

Aiden had an ugly expression on his face as he viciously looked at the closed elevator door. “That bitch! I'll make her suffer once | get the company!”

Carl followed Sherry to her office After closing the door, he sat on Sherry’s desk and stared at her face. “What happened to your face and leg? Was it Aiden?”

Sherry had an important meeting later and had to prepare the necessary documents. She switched on her computer as she answered, “It's probably him.”

Carl's expression turned cold. He bolted up and headed to the door “Carl! What are you doing?” Sherry called him.

Carl tugged his collar “Tl beat that bastard up!”

Chapter 1733

Carl wanted to punch Aiden’s face and break his legs. He strode towards the door. Sherry bolted up and called to him, “Stop!”

He continued striding forward.

She limped forward to chase after him

Carl noticed her limping figure from his side. He stopped, furrowed his brows, and said, “Stop moving around. I'll be back after | beat his ass up!”

Sherry limped forward and held him back. “I am already thinking of a way to deal with him. Do not mess with him now.” “What idea do you have?” Carl looked at her suspiciously.

Sherry grinned. “You will know after today.”

Judging from her sly and cunning grin, Carl felt relieved His charming eyes curled up and said, Okay. If you say so.” He flipped her nose playfully

Sherry glared at him before she went back to her desk

After she sat down, she said to him, “I'll be having a meeting regarding the two projects you secured last week. Since you are the one who closed the deal, you are responsible for leading the meeting. Be prepared. You have less than two hours.”

Carl instantly felt reluctant “Sis, | don’t like meetings. | closed the deal, but the credit belongs to our entire department and you. Why don’t you lead the meeting? I’ll just be a participant.”

“No. Go get prepared, or | will call your mother right away.” Sherry said as she glared at him. Carl pursed his lips. “Fine.”

He was not in a hurry to leave. Instead, he asked her, “Sis, how're your face and your leg now?” Sherry said, “My face is okay now, but my leg still hurts a little. It’s going to be fine.”

Carl watched as she tapped her keyboard diligently He added, “Did John know you were beaten. up?

Sherry’s dancing fingers on the keyboard froze for a moment. She said, “He’s the one who saved me, or else | would've been talking to you from a hospital bed.”

Carl's eyes flickered. “I see.”

He wished he was the one to save her, but at least she was away from harm. Otherwise, he dared not even imagine what would have happened to her.

He went silent for a moment before he wore a bright smile. “T'll go get prepared. See you in the meeting room later.”

Sherry nodded. “See you.”

Two hours later, Sherry arrived at the main meeting room with her assistant

Carl was already there and was slouching in the main seat

Sherry sat in the first seat to his right.

Then, the department leaders and their subordinates who were involved in the two projects arrived one after another Aiden and Caden attended as well. They were not required to actively participate in the two projects, but they were involved in a minor part of it, so it was normal to see them there.

Only Ron had nothing to do with the two projects and came uninvited. Sherry assumed he simply came to observe Carl's capabilities His presence surprised a lot of the participants, but no one said anything.

He was Anne’s husband after all, the biggest shareholder of the company, and also an executive, so it was plausible for him to participate in the meeting.

Chapter 1734

Besides, Carl did not say anything either, so no one else had any objections.

Ron smiled at Carl and sat opposite Carl; Aiden and Caden sat on Car's left.

The meeting room was filled with people once it was time.

Carl scanned over everyone and said with a smile, “Okay. Now that everyone is here, let’s start”

He then turned his spinning chair a little to grab the remote and turned on the display screen. behind him. The screen displayed the Powerpoint slides that he had prepared for the two projects.

He somehow managed to get himself some cool and eye-catching templates for the slides, which differed from what the others usually used. The words were bold and eye-catching, yet stylish enough to not look like a disaster. It looked casual, but at the same time, brief and precise. Minimalistic and understandable!

Sherry was captivated after a few glances; the others were similarly surprised and astonished. Caden reacted scornfully, but Aiden and Ron had heavy looks on their faces.

Carl's presentation was precise and brief, and he finished presenting the first project succinctly He had a glance at Sherry and won an approving smile from her. She did not speak but her eyes. were filled with praise

Carl winked at her and then looked at the others. “Any questions?”

“Sir, | have a question,” asked one of the department managers who was responsible for the project follow-up.

Carl looked at him. “What is it?”

“| would like to know when we are initiating the project.”

“Within a month.”

Carl answered a battery of questions hurled at him deftly and confidently. He cleared everyone’s doubts in less than ten minutes.

Since no one else had any questions, he continued, “If there’s no more problem, we can dismiss and you guys can start preparing We will have another meeting for the other project later in the afternoon.”

“Wait,” Aiden suddenly said. Carl looked at him coldly. “What’s the problem, Aiden Sager?” Aiden wore a smile on his face and said, “Carl, I’m your brother Shouldn’t you be more respectful to me?”

The unexpected exchange silenced the meeting room. Other than Sherry, everyone else frowned. Ron and Caden grinned wickedly while the others stayed quiet.

Carl scoffed. “I’m calling your full name because | ‘respect’ you. Take it or leave it”

Aiden chuckled. “Carl, are you using that tone with the clients? I’m starting to suspect that you coerced the clients into agreeing to our terms.”

As soon as his words subsided, doubts and suspicions were aroused.

Carl was known for his playboy image, and it was highly possible for him to resolve matters using tougher methods.

Carl's expression turned grave He glared at Aiden and bellowed, “Aiden Sager, say it one more time and I'll wreck you!”

Aiden continued, “Carl, I’m just voicing my suspicions. Why so agitated? Or am | right?”

Caden echoed, “Yeah. Is Aiden right about you coercing the clients?”

Sherry knew the situation was going south. She tapped on Car!’s leg under the table, signaling him to calm down, and then said to Aiden, “Aiden, these two projects are major projects If Carl can secure the deal by coercing them, does it mean the company can get whatever projects we want?”

Aiden choked on the question for a moment. He said, “Ms. Fowler, you're right. | just have my suspicions. That's it.”

Chapter 1735

Chapter 1735 Sherry ignored him. Aiden was obviously unhappy but managed to stomach his anger.

Ron then stepped in with a scoff and said, “Sherry, you are not entirely correct. Our company has a good reputation, and our clients and partners in these two projects are similarly well-known although they are not exactly powerful If Carl wanted to coerce them into working with us, it’d actually be possible”

Sherry frowned.

Carl curled his lips. He wanted to stand up and throw his chair over to Ron, but Sherry stopped him before his thoughts became action.

She held him back and then said to Ron, “Mr Wright, Carl secured the two projects himself. If you don’t believe him, you can contact the clients and ask for more details.”

Ron said scornfully. They have already signed a contract. There’s no point in asking anymore Sherry gulped exasperatedly while continuing to hold Carl back.

Ron scanned over their expressions. He scoffed and sighed. “Whatever. If you say so, so be it. Let’s just hope no problems will follow after this.”

Sherry choked on the question. Even she had the urge of punching the jerk in the face, let alone Carl. However, sanity and rationality took over. She pursed her lips tightly and stopped Carl from acting rashly.

Ron had a glance at Sherry before he looked at Carl, who wanted to punch his face. He scoffed Aiden and Caden scoffed too.

Then, Aiden sighed and said helplessly, “Carl, | don’t care what you did to secure the deals. As long as you guarantee that no problems will arise, I'll support you.”

Carl's expression turned grave. His eyes were bloodshot. He had gotten used to being called at playboy who lived a lavish life, but he really spent a lot of effort in securing the two projects He lost sleep for several days and went to multiple meetings with the clients to make the project happen.

However, the three jerks simply made it look like he got the deal through coercion! He really wanted to beat up the father and sons trio!

However, Sherry was holding him back. He knew she was holding him back for his own good, and he did not want to defy her either, so he bit the bullet and swallowed the insults.

The spacious meeting room went silent for a while.

Ron, Aiden, and Caden looked at Carl as if they had won the battle with despicable means. Carl was on the edge of losing his temper.

Sherry was losing her mind over the frustration as well, but she had to keep calm and keep Carl from hitting them. She inhaled deeply and said, “The meeting is over. Dismiss-”

“Wait a minute!” Aiden stopped her all of a sudden. He smiled at Sherry and asked, “Ms. Fowler, the bruise on your face still looks obvious. The thugs must have beaten you up pretty badly last. night. | have some balm that you can apply. Do you need some?”

Sherry cursed deeply in her heart. Swoosh!

Carl broke free from Sherry’s grasp and bolted up.

Aiden feigned a terrified look. “Carl, what are you doing?” Ron added, “Carl, your brother is just concerned about Sherry. Are you going to beat him up because of that?” Caden pulled his phone out, seemingly prepared to film Carl.

They were not afraid of Carl attacking them. In fact, they looked forward to it because it would give them a legitimate reason to counterattack.

Carl felt a fit of unprecedented anger burning in his chest. He grabbed the chair behind him. Sherry narrowed her eyes and bolted up.

Bang!

It was at that moment, the meeting room door was opened.

Surprised, Carl put the chair down and looked towards the entrance

Sherry looked towards the entrance as well and saw several men in suits and officers in uniforms barging in.
