Ch. 1861..1865
Chapter 1861
Freya could sense Kenneth’s disdain toward Caprice. Always the loyal friend, she backed Caprice up, “That’s right. | managed to get two spots for me and Caprice two days ago. We don’t need your help to get inside.”
Upon hearing this, Kenneth and Jonathan turned white, they felt called out.
Moses expressed regretfully, “I’m sorry, | didn’t mean it like that. | was just asking out of curiosity. | happen to know someone who works inside, so | figured | could help you girls out if you haven’t secured a spot yet.”
“| know you didn’t mean it like that, but | think some of you here don’t feel the same way,” Freya hinted not-so-subtly. Caprice gently nudged her to signal her to stop being so confrontative with Jonathan and Kenneth.
It was too late. Kenneth immediately scoffed upon hearing her remark. “It must have been pretty expensive. | believe the scalper price goes for around five thousand. You sure are splurging for the occasion.”
Freya refused to back down. “So what if it’s five thousand? I'd be willing to buy it even if it costs fifty thousand!”
Kenneth mused sarcastically, “You sure are pretty rich for a university student. | wonder where you get your money from.” Caprice frowned and tried again to pull Freya away.
It seemed like Kenneth had successfully provoked her.
The situation quickly devolved out of control as Freya roared at Kenneth, “I bought it with the money | earned myself!”
Kenneth was visibly jolted by her sudden aggression. A wipe of a condescending smile appeared on his face again. “What kind of job possibly pays that much? Would you tell me about your job?”
Freya took the bait again. “You- What makes you think that I'd tell you?!”
Kenneth could no longer stand for being disrespected by someone he considered to be a snot- nosed brat. He immediately shot up like an arrow.
Caprice was alarmed by this and quickly stepped in front of Freya. Moses stepped between Kenneth and Freya to mediate the situation. “Kenneth, Freya, I’m going to need you two to calm down!”
“Moses, we'll be going for now. It doesn’t seem like Kenneth is very fond of us,” Caprice remarked sharply, then she led Freya by the hand and walked away.
They were gone in an instant. Moses barely had time to stop them. He frowned, then he turned sharply to Kenneth. “Kenneth, they are just university students. Why are you being so mean to them?”
A flash of unruly anger appeared in his eyes. “It’s that Freya brat who started it.” the woods where there were fewer people crowded around.
Moses and his group must have been waiting at this spot previously. When Caprice and Freya got there, they noticed a bunch of bags strewn over the field of grass.
Kenneth rummaged in his bag and found his camera. He then threw its straps around his neck. He looked at the entrance of Carter Tech City with excitement beaming in his. eyes.
Jonathan had a selfie stick ready as well.
Moses turned to Caprice. “Caprice, are you on the guest list?”
The moment he raised the question, Kenneth and Jonathan turned to him with a sudden jerk.
Kenneth stated crossly, “Moses, we only have four spots, and there are four of us already. Even if you want to bring Caprice into the city, we don’t have any extra spots for her.”
Jonathan shot a look at Caprice and echoed the same sentiment, “That’s right. We're full.”
The other person who was with them stayed silent the entire time.
Moses frowned.
Before he could respond, Caprice clarified, “We’re on the guest list as well. Freya managed to snag a spot from a reseller.”
Moses explained, “That's because you assumed right off the bat that they were trying to take your spots. It’s not surprising that they would get defensive when they sensed your hostility.”
Kenneth scowled. Jonathan spoke up, “Moses, we wouldn't pick on those kids for no reason. Why don’t you look around you? Do you see anyone
like those two around here? Look at the way they’re dressed, it looks like they were looking for attention and trying to seduce some rich guy.”
Moses stated in a grave voice, “Caprice is not the kind of person you think she is.”
Jonathan sneered, “Heh... She’s covered from head to toe in counterfeit name brands. She looks just like that sort of person if you ask me.”
Moses frowned.
Counterfeit name brands? Those were counterfeits?
“Maybe she doesn’t know they are counterfeits.”
Jonathan sneered, “Whatever you say.”
He continued to fiddle with his selfie stick.
Kenneth went up to Moses and patted him on the shoulder. “Moses, you’d better stop wasting time on her. There’s nothing special about her.”

Kenneth did not sound convinced. “That says more about our product than about her abilities. All she did was just forward our details to a couple of investors. It was the investors who made the call at the end of the day. Besides, you've already returned the favor by giving her a job, but she ended up squandering it anyway.”
The other colleague who came with them chimed in, “Mr. Kenneth makes a good point. You offered her a good salary for a pretty easy position, and she only lasted one day. You can’t say that we were the ones at fault.”

Chapter 1863
Freya’s eyes widened. It seemed like she just had an epiphany.
After a while, a flash of determination shone in her eyes. She smiled widely and nodded approvingly.
Caprice smiled as well when she noticed the effect the words she said had on Freya.
The two friends continued chatting for a while until they saw the crowd begin inching toward the entrance.
In ten minutes, the gates of Carter Tech City would open.
Everyone rushed to the gate and formed a line, eager to enter the city.
Freya quickly pulled Caprice up to her feet and joined the crowd.
There were more than a dozen ticketing booths by the gate, therefore the people formed as many lines as there were booths.
By mere coincidence, Caprice and Freya found themselves queuing in the line right next to the one Moses and his group queued in.
Moses immediately noticed the girls and greeted them. Caprice acknowledged him with a faint smile before turning away.
Kenneth and Jonathan hardly bothered to greet them at all. They were very arrogant and did not think it was worth their time to acknowledge the girls.
Kenneth was particularly blunt about it, and he scoffed audibly.
Freya scoffed as well and turned away, refusing to look in his direction.

The gates were open, the crowd began to flock inside.
Caprice and Freya advanced through the line. Before long, they had arrived at the booth.
Freya was the one who bought the tickets. She opened the QR code the scalpers sent her and hovered her phone over the scanner.
Beep!
The machine flashed with
an ominous red.

She began to grow anxious.”
Caprice took her phone and
What's going on?” ried again. No dice.
The people behind them were growing impatient, and one of them could not bear to wait any longer. “Why don’t you scoot over to the side if your ticket doesn’t work? We're trying to get in!”
“That’s right, we’ve been waiting all afternoon. Stop wasting our time, girlie!” 212
Someone else added, “She’s probably hoping to slip inside with a fake ticket.” “Definitely. That's the only explanation.”
Meanwhile, Moses and his group managed to pass through the booth successfully and made their way into the city. They turned back and glanced at Caprice and Freya.
Moses wore a troubled look in his eyes.
Kenneth and Jonathan were smiling gleefully.
Panic was slowly setting in for Freya. “No way. | got them for five thousand dollars from a scalper. Tell me this is not happening!” “Look at that... They got scammed.”
“Now that I’ve had a closer look at them, they’re pretty. Shame that they're so naive though.” “Hehe... | knew it. They were trying to slip inside with fake tickets!”
Chapter 1864
Freya swung around and began to get into a screaming match with them. “No! The tickets | bought are genuine. There must be something wrong with the scanner!”
“There’s only one way to find out. Why don’t you let the people in line try it with their tickets?” Despite having passed through the gate, Kenneth stood on the other side and inserted himself into the argument.
Freya shot a glare at him. “Alright, I'll show you!”
With that, she pulled Caprice to the side and let the next person in line step up to the booth. The stranger took his phone with the QR code shown on its display and hovered it over the scanner.
Beep! Green light.
The gate opened swiftly.
The stranger cheerfully strode through the gate.
Astiff silence fell upon them. Caprice and Freya could feel the scrutinizing gazes of everyone around them cast on them. They had turned into laughingstocks.
Freya was flabbergasted.
Caprice was just as much taken with disbelief.
How could this be?
201
Freya would never try to use fake tickets, was she scammed by the scalpers?
“Move!” A grumpy man stepped forward and nudged Freya out of the way so she would not keep holding up the line. Fortunately, Caprice was very alert and held Freya steady so she would not fall.
After that, the line moved forward without any further delay.

From time to time, the people in line would shoot cross looks at the girls and heckle them, “What are you two standing around here for? Scram!”
It slowly escalated to insults thrown at them, “Oh, bother. Stop playing the victim! Don’t you two have any shame? Get out of here.”
Caprice frowned.
Freya rubbed her eyes and sounded like she was choking back on tears. “Come on, Caprice, let’s go.”
Caprice was just as infuriated.
There were no alternatives, they had to leave.
She took Freya’s hands and tried to lead her away from the crowd. That was when she
The strange whose foot she stepped on must have grown impatient from the wait and lashed out at Caprice, “Scram!” He rudely shoved Caprice out of the way.
Thump!
Caprice was not expecting this at all and staggered forward. She bumped into the ticketing booth before losing her balance and falling to the ground. She landed hard on her knees and winced from the pain.
Moses and his group were on the other side of the gate and saw everything that went down.
Moses frowned disapprovingly when he saw this and wanted to go over to help her, but the crowd still pouring through the gate hindered him from going over to Caprice.
Kenneth chuckled, seeming highly amused. Jonathan seemed to be enjoying this as well. Caprice tried to pull herself onto her feet, but she was slumped over the ticketing booth and the people entering the city no
longer had the patience for her. They stepped over her like she was a bothersome obstacle, and none of them bothered to help her up.
Several times when Caprice looked like she was going to rise on her feet, someone would kick her and send her tumbling to the pavement again.
Meanwhile, inside the security room nearby, Heather stood right next to the window that offered her a good view of the mass of ticketing booths. She stared with amusement at Caprice who was doubled over the ground and smiled devilishly.
At the ticketing booth, Caprice was caught in a difficult situation. Countless pairs of legs stepped past her, completely indifferent to her predicament.
She could faintly hear Freya’s frantic voice ringing in the background. She was trying to get the people to stop for Caprice, but nobody paid any attention to her or the girl hunched over on the ground.
Caprice had no choice but to tough through it, holding her hands over her head.
After what seemed like forever, the people suddenly stopped, and she no longer heard Freya’s voice. She opened her eyes and noticed a jet-black car parked a short distance away from her.
The car model, the license plate... it was him! All of the ticketing booths opened their gates automatically. Several security guards hurried out of the security room and instructed the crowd to make way.
Before long, the crowd parted like the Red Sea, leaving Caprice lying in the center, looking more conspicuous than ever. Surprisingly, not a single person paid attention to her as they all turned
toward the car with its tinted mirrors.
People grew curious over time. “Who is this? What’s with the royal escort?”
Chapter 1865
Chapter 1865 Someone else suggested, “It has to be the owner of Carter Tech City. Who else would warrant such a grand display?”
Apin-drop silence loomed over the scene as everyone stared at the car expectantly. Even the people who had already passed through the gates into the city leaned over the barrier and waited to see what would happen next.
The car slowly accelerated forward and seemed like it was going to run over Caprice. “Caprice, get up!” Moses’ frantic shout shattered the silence. It was only then that people noticed Caprice still doubled over on the ground, and they began to point at her and laugh.
She tried to use a fake ticket to enter the city, then she obstructed the city owner's entry into the city. They expected the security to haul her out of here like the pest she was.
As they thought about her misery, the security forces began approaching her when they noticed that she was in the way.
Just when it looked like the security forces were going to haul away like a piece of log, the car suddenly screeched to a stop. It stopped only inches away from her.
“Stop!” A sonorous voice emerged from inside the car.
The large and intimidating men of the security forces immediately heeded the order and stood still
Everyone was shocked by this sudden turn of events.
Soon, the driver got out of the car and hastily opened the rear door.
Immediately afterward, a tall and dashing figure stepped out of the car. The dark tailored suit he wore was a symbol of his wealth and status. His skin exuded a fine radiance that made the sun seem pale in comparison. He was unbelievably handsome. All men were not made equal, and it was evident at first glance that he was God's favorite child.
Contrary to his fine and dignified appearance, he was wearing a deep scowl. There was a terrifying gloom on his face that struck fear in people’s hearts.
The moment he appeared, his mere presence sucked the air out of the space around him. Everyone subconsciously held their breaths.
He strode forward and stepped past the security guards to approach the girl who was keeled over on the ground. He bent over and extended his toned hands like a Messiah. He took the girl’s shoulders and helped her to her feet.
Everyone was flabbergasted. Nobody could have seen this coming, and the collective shock was completely indescribable.
Freya, Moses, and even the ones who were hoping to see Caprice punished such as Kenneth and Jonathan were stunned by what they were seeing.
Freya’s jaw dropped to the ground. She remembered this man! His name was Liam! He was the man who had shown up at the nightclub on Caprice’s birthday!
Moses looked at Liam who held Caprice tenderly, feeling a mixture of shock and confusion. Kenneth’s complexion turned a ghastly white, and he was completely floored.
As for Jonathan, the moment he got a closer look at Liam, his eyes grew wider than humanly possible as all the color was drained out of his face.
Before everyone could recover from their stupor, Caprice threw herself into the arms of what seemed to be the owner of Carter Tech City and bawled her eyes out.
“Liam...”
Instead of shoving her away, the magnanimous man carried her in his arms like a groom holding a bride. This effortless motion was followed by a swooping gaze that washed over the entire crowd
in an instant.
Moses held his breath.
Kenneth and Jonathan stepped backward defensively.
Most of the people who were making fun of Caprice only moments ago staggered backward as well.
Liam turned to the assistant who followed him closely the entire while and ordered sternly, “Check the surveillance footage and identify the person who shoved her to the ground as well as every single person who stepped over her without bothering to help
her. “Yes, sir.” The assistant asked cautiously. “Sir, what should we do with them?” Liam spoke with ice in his voice, “Call the police.”
Was he trying to get them arrested? His assistant was caught off guard by this but knew better than to object. “Yes, sir, consider it done.”
Liam went into the car, carrying Caprice the entire while. The door closed with a steady thud.
Everyone had not recovered from their shock yet.
Nobody spoke.
Meanwhile, the ones who knew that they had stepped over Caprice just now quickly grew nervous.
Moses stared transfixed at the luxury car with its tinted mirrors.
Kenneth, Jonathan, and everyone else who had been making fun of Caprice had all of their cockiness evaporated in an instant.
The owner of Carter Tech City was someone who knew Caprice, and he had carried her into the car like a princess. This was more than enough proof that Caprice never needed a ticket to enter the city in the first place...
Inside the security room, Heather witnessed everything, especially the part where Liam carried Caprice in his arms. She turned pale with a bitter sting of jealousy and rage boiling inside her.
She hurriedly turned around and walked out through the back door of the security room.
