Chapter 1866

Chapter 1866 Inside the car. Even after entering the car, Caprice refused to let go of Liam. She felt awful.

She and Freya never tried to use fake tickets hoping to slip into Carter Tech City. They did not deserve such terrible treatment from everyone!

How could they do something so terrible to her? Why did nobody help her at all?

She did not think she was going to cry, but the moment she found herself in the presence of Liam, the floodgates opened. She pursed her lips tightly and whimpered soundlessly.

Liam frowned when he looked at her haggard state. Her hair was tousled, and there were footprint marks all over her. He held her close to him and let her have her moment.

After she managed to compose herself, he turned to the driver and ordered, “Drive.”

“Wait a minute.” Caprice turned to Liam, her eyes puffy and red from crying. “Liam, my friend is still outside.”

Liam glanced outside.

The crowd had long dispersed by this point and were shuffling into the city. Freya was the only one who stood still like a totem and was carefully observing the car.

He turned to his assistant in the passenger seat. “Bring her into the car.” “Alright, sir.” His assistant promptly got out of the car.

Caprice looked outside to check up on Freya. It was then that she noticed Isabel sitting in the middle row. She must have been here since the very beginning. She suddenly felt a wave of embarrassment wash over her and quickly removed herself from Liam.

Isabel was staring at her.

When she noticed Caprice’s reaction, she smiled and asked tenderly, “Caprice, are you hurt?” Caprice stammered, “Hey, Isabel, I- I’m fine. | just tripped.”

Isabel breathed a sigh of relief. “That's good. I’m glad you're not hurt.”

Meanwhile, Freya entered from the other side of the car. Her first instinct was to look for Caprice, but when she noticed Isabel, her eyes immediately grew wide open as she exclaimed, “Isabel! You're the famous movie star!”

Isabel smiled and greeted her, “Hello.”

Freya was floored.

Caprice coughed dryly.

Freya suddenly remembered Caprice. When she noticed Liam sitting next to her, she made a face and cowered into her seat. The car accelerated forward.

Isabel turned to Caprice, “Caprice, what happened back there? Did somebody push you?”

Caprice made an exasperated sound and explained, “It looks like Frey got ripped off by scalpers and was given counterfeit tickets. We got held up at the ticket booth, and the people in line eventually got angry with us. They began picking on us and started getting physical with us.”

Isabel frowned. “You could have just contacted Liam or me if you wanted to visit. Why bother buying tickets? From a scalper, no less!”

Liam looked sharply at Caprice.

Caprice wanted to say that she never planned to visit, but a voice inside her told her that Liam would be upset if she said something like that. After all, he had invited her to visit several times.

Fortunately, Freya spoke up, so she did not have to make up a lie, “I wanted to surprise her, so | bought tickets from a reseller | found online. | told her that we were coming here after | got the tickets.”

She bought tickets from a scalper online?

Carter Tech City may have offered very limited slots for visiting the city, but the tickets were given away for free on their website! Perhaps the girls were as foolish as the crowd made them out to be.

Isabel sighed and turned to Freya. “Could you show me your tickets?”

If Caprice was truly tricked by the scalpers, she was going to make sure the scalpers faced harsh punishments for ripping her off! Freya hastily handed her phone to Isabel.

Isabel looked at the reservation ticket with its QR code along with a unique reference number. She remarked skeptically, “Doesn't seem like a counterfeit to me.”

Freya was shocked to hear this.

Caprice was just as startled and hastily explained, “But we tried several times at the ticket booth and they wouldn't work. | thought there was something wrong with the machine, but it worked just fine for the others in the line.”

“Bro, take a look at this.” Isabel handed Freya’s phone to Liam. Liam only needed a brief look at it. “They aren’t counterfeits.” Caprice was confused. “Then, why wouldn’t the tickets work when we used them?”

Freya asked in a puzzled tone, “Could it be a machine malfunction?”

Chapter 1867

“It malfunctions when you two were using it but not when the others used it?” Isabel squinted suspiciously and turned to Liam. “Hey, does the security room have control over the ticketing machines?”

Liam scowled. “Mitch, look into it.”

Mitch was his assistant who was currently seated in the passenger seat, He responded dutifully,” Yes, sir, I’ll head to the security room right now.”

The car stopped. Mitch wasted no time in getting out of the car. He quickly went to the security room right next to the entrance of the city.

Meanwhile, Isabel smiled pleasantly at Caprice and informed her, “Caprice, | have several scenes | need to shoot with my team today. I'll see you after | wrap things up.”

Caprice smiled. “Okay.”

Isabel turned to Freya and smiled politely before leaving.

Freya spoke up nervously, ‘I... | think I’ll take a walk in the city as well. Is that okay?”

She felt very uncomfortable inside the car.

Caprice sent her off. “Go on, I’ll see you later.”

“Alright, see you.”

With that, she escaped from the car.

Astiff silence consumed the car.

Caprice turned to Liam and thanked him sincerely, “Liam, thanks for helping me back there.”

If he had not shown up, who knows what would have happened to her? They would have trampled her flat.

Liam had gone above and beyond and told his team to identify the person who shoved her to bring him to the authorities. From this gesture, she could tell how much he cared for her

Liam seemed slightly upset. “All of this would not have happened if you had simply told me that you were planning to visit.” There was a sharpness in his voice as he conducted himself with great restrain.

Caprice shrunk into herself and whimpered weakly, “I... | didn’t want to bother you because | know you're a busy man. | was just going to take a walk in the city with Frey.”

She wanted to see him, but he already had a girlfriend and she was reluctant to intrude.

Liam took a deep breath and glanced at her dirt-stained face. “I'll take you someplace you can clean yourself up. You can tour the city after that.”

“Alright,” Caprice obliged. Soon, they stopped outside a building.

Caprice followed Liam everywhere he went. They entered through the lobby and stepped into the elevator. Shortly after that, they arrived at his office.

The pictures did not do it any justice. It was larger than she thought and very beautiful. There was a dedicated section for work and a separate section for leisure. She felt a sense of familiarity with the place because she had seen so many pictures of it.

There was a suite adjacent to the office section. Inside it was a living room, bathroom, and bedroom. This must be where he caught up on rest when he needed it.

Caprice did not enter the bedroom and went straight to the bathroom.

Surprisingly, there was only one set of toiletries inside the bathroom. The slippers and bathrobes belonged to him. There was no evidence that Heather had ever been here at all.

Despite that, she was still convinced of the fact that they were dating.

She let out a deep sigh, feeling exhausted from the day's events. Then, she washed her face and combed her hair before stepping out of the bathroom, feeling rejuvenated at last.

Liam was seated behind his desk with a stack of documents in hand.

Caprice spoke softly and briefly to avoid distracting him, “Liam, I'll be leaving for now. Thanks for lending me your bathroom.” Liam whipped a look at her. “Alright.”

Caprice left.

After she stepped outside, Mitch stepped into Liam’s office. He wore a troubled look on his face.

“Sir,” he addressed Liam solemnly.

Liam looked at him, “Any news?”

“Yes.”

“Who messed with the machine?”

“About that... It was Mrs. Manson.”

Chapter 1868

Chapter 1868 The tower where Liam operated was in a separate district that was closed off to visitors. Currently, only a handful of streets in the city was open to the public.

After Caprice stepped out of the lobby, she had to walk some distance before finally accessing the streets open to the public. Shortly after that, she managed to find Freya.

Freya was sitting by herself on a bench. Her eyes glittered the moment she saw Caprice, then a conflicted look overshadowed them.

“Caprice, is the Liam you've been talking about the owner of the city?” she asked in a hushed voice, afraid of people overhearing them.

Caprice sat next to her and nodded. She clarified urgently, “Frey, | didn’t mean to hide it from you.” Freya shaped her lips into a thin line. “I understand.”

Caprice was not the kind to show off her connections. Another thing she was reluctant to tell Freya was that Liam already had a girlfriend.

Freya held Caprice’s hands and continued asking, “Caprice, how come you know Isabel Ross? And why does she address Liam as her brother?”

As if Caprice being acquainted with the very owner of Carter Tech City was not shocking enough, the famous movie star Isabel knew her by name as well!

Caprice explained, “Isabel and Liam are twins. I've known them ever since | was a baby.” Freya was astounded by the startling discovery. “They’re twins? Why do they have different surnames?” Caprice explained, “Liam took their father’s surname while Isabel took their mother’s.”

“That explains it.” Freya sighed reflectively, then she shot a playful look at Caprice. “I was just thinking that Liam looked so handsome when he carried you into the car.”

Caprice’s cheeks grew red. “He’s always been handsome.” “You know... | kind of feels like he’s into you,” Freya said cautiously.

Liam had gotten out of the car and carried Caprice into the car himself, then he made a point of instructing his assistant to find the person who was responsible for shoving Caprice and to contact the authorities. Anyone could tell that he cared for Caprice and was very protective of her.

Caprice stirred with emotions and promptly clarified, “My mother and his mother are very good friends. We’ve known each other since we were kids, and as far as | remember, he’s always been protective of me.”

He would have done the same for Isabel; she did not doubt that. If he was truly interested in her, he would not be dating Heather.

Freya noticed how Caprice was avoidant of the subject and quickly dropped the matter. “Anyway, enough about that. The city is beautiful. Let’s go shopping!”

With that, the two began their tour of the city.

It was only after they walked away that several figures emerged from the hedge of bushes behind the bench they were just sitting on.

Kenneth expressed in disbelief, “I can’t believe it. She’s known the owner of Carter Tech City and the famous Isabel Ross ever since she was a baby!”

Moses stood next to him and stared at Caprice’s figure from behind. A troubled look appeared on

his face.

They heard everything Caprice told Freya back there.

Caprice’s mother was close friends with the mother of the owner of Carter Tech City. Anyone with the vaguest common sense could tell that this meant that Caprice came from a significant family

as well. To think that all this time, he thought she was just an ordinary girl.

Kenneth suddenly grew paranoid. “You guys don’t think that she’s going to hold any kind of grudge against me because of what | said about her back there, do you?”

Moses stated, “I don’t think so. She’s not that kind of

person.”

Kenneth shot a look at him. “How do you know that? You've only known her for a few days.” Moses looked back at him with a marked frown. “She promised to help me when I've only known

her for two hours, and she pulled through just as she said she would. Do you think someone like her is going to hold a grudge just because of some senseless bickering?”

Kenneth’s eyes flashed. “That's not necessarily...”

Chapter 1869

Moses further supplied, "If she truly held a grudge against you, you wouldn't standing here talking to me right now."

With that, he slapped Kenneth's palm off his shoulder. He advanced in the direction Caprice and Freya went toward.

Kenneth was bothered by Moses' contemptuous tone toward him. He turned to Jonathan who seemed to be in a state of trance and asked irritably, "Jonathan, what's wrong with you? Why didn't you back me up?"

Jonathan looked pale and sick. He murmured weakly, "I've seen that man before."

"Which man?"

*The owner of Carter Tech City."

Kenneth was intrigued by this. "When and where did you meet him?"

Jonathan relayed his story, "Do you remember the night I took Caprice to Elysian House party? After she attacked President Michael, we chased her down until she ran into that man at the end of the corridor. He was the one who saved her."

Kenneth asked frightfully, "President Michael... Was this man the one who got him fired?"

Jonathan nodded gravely.

Before this, he had denied the plausibility of that being the case because Caprice could not possibly be connected to someone with such influence. Things had changed now, and he was convinced that the owner of Carter Tech City was the one pulling the strings behind the scenes.

Kenneth turned pale.

If someone as powerful as President Michael could be ruined beyond repair overnight, how hard could it be for this man to destroy their measly little company? It would be as easy as squashing an ant!

*Are you sure Caprice won't try to get revenge against us?" Kenneth asked fearfully.

Jonathan sounded very unsure of himself. "Maybe Moses has a point. If Caprice was going to do anything to us, she would have done it by now."

All she needed to do was to talk to the owner of Carter Tech City. They would have been booted out of the city faster than they could blink if she had done so. The very fact that they were still standing here meant that Caprice had never taken their jests seriously this entire time.

All sorts of futuristic implementations could be seen all over Carter Tech City.

Robots were marching amongst the crowd as if it was the most mundane thing in the world, and as if the robots were in charge of keeping order.

It was as if they had stepped into a futuristic dimension. Caprice was busy taking pictures the entire time. "Caprice, take a look at that! All of these buildings have unique names!" Freya exclaimed as if she had discovered a new planet. She gestured wildly at the buildings surrounding them.

Every building in Carter Tech City was a form of creative expression. They came in a large range of heights and designs, and the shortest building was only a single story tall. There was a garden of sunflowers on its rooftop, and it was fittingly named Sunflower House.

The tallest building of them all shot into the clouds above, blending in with the stars above. As if to signify its place in the world beyond, it was named Cap of the Galaxy.

The other iconic towers nearby were Odell Tower, Black Flint Tower, and Isa Tower.

Freya read out their names and remarked curiously, "How do they come up with these names? Who are these people?"

Caprice smirked. They were named after Liam's family members.

Why was the most iconic tower of them all named Cap of the Galaxy? Why not name it directly after himself, hence the Liam Tower?

She was particularly intrigued by the use of the word 'Cap'.

Was it supposed to be a reference to her name?

It was a particularly curious observation. She could not imagine why he had chosen this name of all things. Perhaps he chose it simply because it sounded fitting. After all, the tower had reached the clouds above and the term 'cap' was an apt metaphor for having reached the ceiling of the planet.

It was around this point when they heard a round of commation nearby.

Someone shouted, "I heard Isabel Ross is nearby! I saw someone post online that she is going to shoot a scene right outside Isa Tower. Let's head over there right now!"
