Chapter 2258

“I’m not a little kid. Stop treating me like one every chance you get—and don’t touch my head.” Cecilia shot him a glare.

Nathaniel acted like he hadn’t heard a word. He lifted his hand again and lightly rubbed her cheek.

“Alright, alright. Got it. Don’t be mad.”

Cecilia looked at his handsome face, and just like that, the irritation drained away.

By the time the car reached Jamieson Group, Cecilia got out first.

Nathaniel followed right behind her as if nothing was out of the ordinary.

She turned to him, unable to hold it in. “You’re coming into Jamieson Group with me again today?”

“Yeah.” Nathaniel nodded. “Isn’t this what I do every day now?”

Cecilia went speechless.

Ever since they came back from Drocver, something had changed. He stuck to her side every day like glue and refused to leave.

“You never go to your own company anymore. Are you really that free?” she asked.

“Everything’s handled online now. It’s fine,” Nathaniel said.

That shut her up again.

The two of them walked into the company one after the other.

By now, the employees were used to the sight.

As soon as they came in, staff greeted them. “Ms. Smith. Mr. Rainsworth.”

Nathaniel returned it with a small smile and a nod, clearly in a good mood.

Cecilia glanced at him, then finally voiced the question that had been on her mind. “Nathaniel, be honest. You follow me to work every day now—what’s the real reason?”

The old Nathaniel had never been this attached.

His steps paused for a split second, something unreadable flickering in his eyes.

Then it was gone.

“I just want to be with you every day,” he said easily. “What, are you already sick of me?”

Cecilia rarely heard him speak in such a clingy, almost syrupy tone. It made her skin prickle.

“Okay… can you not talk like that anymore?”

Nathaniel nodded again. “Alright. I’ll do whatever you say.”

Their voices faded as they walked farther down the hall.

Behind them, the employees couldn’t help reacting.

“Our boss has such an amazing relationship.”

“Seriously. Mr. Rainsworth treats her so well. They’re ridiculously sweet.”

“They already have four kids. How is their relationship still this good? I’ve only been married two years and things already feel flat.”

“Maybe looks really do matter. Just look at Mr. Rainsworth and Ms. Smith. With faces like that, how could anyone get tired of them?”

“Ahem. Work time, everyone.”

No one noticed when Lucille walked over, but there she was, putting on a stern face.

The chatter died instantly.

For a moment, Lucille actually enjoyed the authority.

Upstairs, she headed straight for Cecilia, eager to share what she’d just heard.

Nathaniel watched the two of them chatting away and could only sit there with a helpless expression.

Once Lucille finished, she naturally pushed Cecilia’s workload over to Nathaniel.

“Mr. Rainsworth, you’ll have to work a little harder.”

Nathaniel raised a brow. “You’re making me work while you sit there chatting with Ceci, and you don’t see anything wrong with that?”

“Everyone knows you spoil Cecilia more than anyone,” Lucille shot back.

What was he supposed to say to that?

In the end, Nathaniel quietly dumped all the blame onto Mason.

Meanwhile, over at Imminence Corporation, with him gone, Mason’s workload had only gotten heavier.

Sitting in his office, he suddenly sneezed.

“Who’s thinking about me now?”

The next second, his phone rang. Nathaniel.

“Mr. Rainsworth, what do you need?”

“Make sure you put in proper overtime today.”

Mason froze. “Huh?”

“You don’t want to?”

“No, of course I do,” Mason said quickly, lowering his voice. Inside, he was already cursing.
