Chapter 2272

Arnold hesitated as he looked at Miranda.

“What? Wasn’t I clear enough? Or are you saying you don’t intend to listen to me?”

Her expression turned cold.

Arnold quickly shook his head. “I’ll go right away.”

Once he left, Miranda finally sat down and turned on the computer.

She went through the files one by one.

Anything that looked valuable, she copied first—then erased any trace of it.

After checking everything she could access on the system, she moved on to the company’s physical dossiers.

She couldn’t wait to get out of the Rainsworth family—that suffocating cage.

As long as she could seize control, she would never have to stay with someone as useless as Adrian again.

Arnold remained outside, unable to see what she was doing.

The longer it went on, the more uneasy he felt. In the end, he reported everything to Robert.

After hearing it, Robert felt something was off as well.

“Keep an eye on her, but don’t let her notice. If anything happens, report to me immediately.”

“Yes,” Arnold replied.

After hanging up, Robert called Adrian.

At that moment, Adrian was lounging at home, scrolling on his phone.

The second he saw his father calling, he sat up straight. “Dad, what’s going on?”

“Can’t I call you without a reason? What are you doing right now?”

“What else? Just resting at home,” Adrian said casually.

Robert’s expression darkened.

The more he heard, the more irritated he became.

“You useless brat. Get to the company right now and do your job.”

“What? Isn’t Miranda already there? Whether I go or not doesn’t make a difference,” Adrian replied.

That only made things worse.

“You idiot. You think you can trust a woman? You’re my son. You’re supposed to take over the company someday. Do you understand that or not?”

He took a deep breath, then continued, “Get to the company. Work properly with your wife. Stop slacking off.”

Adrian had no choice but to agree.

“Got it. I’m going.”

He got up slowly, gathered his things, and headed out.

Arnold had assumed that once Adrian arrived, Miranda would step aside.

But instead, Adrian simply did whatever Miranda said.

After showing up, he barely did any work at all—just sat there and played games.

With no one truly watching her, Miranda had free rein.

Since taking over the company, Miranda had grown even more overbearing outside of work.

Quite a few of the other wives couldn’t stand her.

Miranda, however, didn’t seem to notice. She took every chance to show off.

At the same time, she hadn’t forgotten what Jon had done to her son, Felix.

One day, she went to see Felix’s homeroom teacher.

“Kids arguing is normal. But putting hands on someone? That’s not acceptable, don’t you think?”

The teacher looked surprised.

“Ms. Miranda, did someone bully Felix?”

In truth, she knew the situation well.

Most of the time, Felix was the one picking on others. The other children barely dared provoke him.

“What do you think?” Miranda said, crossing her arms.

“When my son came home before, there was a shoe print on his back. Someone clearly kicked him.”

“How could that happen?” the teacher said, still doubtful. “Do you know who did it?”

Miranda glanced toward the classroom.

“If I tell you, will you handle it fairly?”

“Of course. If a student is bullying someone, I’ll make sure they’re properly disciplined.”

Miranda nodded slightly and said one name.

“Jonathan.”

The moment the teacher heard it, she froze.
