Chapter 2278

Nathaniel let out a quiet laugh, clearly unbothered by her glare.

“I was just suggesting you relax,” he said mildly, tightening his arm around her. “Your mind’s running in circles. That’s worse for you.”

Cecilia turned slightly in his embrace, still annoyed. “Relax? You call that relaxing?”

“It works better than overthinking,” he replied.

She wanted to argue again, but the steady warmth of his hold made it harder to stay angry. After a moment, she exhaled and stopped resisting.

“You really think Jon will handle it?” she asked more quietly.

Nathaniel’s voice softened. “He already is. He’s not a child who panics over this kind of thing.”

That finally made Cecilia go silent.

A long pause settled between them, broken only by the faint night outside.

“…If Miranda really pushed this too far,” Cecilia said, her voice lower now, “I won’t let it go lightly.”

“I know,” Nathaniel answered simply. “But you don’t need to carry it all in your head tonight.”

He adjusted the blanket slightly over her shoulders.

“Sleep. I’ll deal with anything that comes up.”

Cecilia hesitated, then finally closed her eyes.

This time, she didn’t argue.

And not long after, the tension in her breathing slowly eased as she drifted off in his arms.
