Chapter 2289

But when their people returned, they discovered Miranda wasn’t home. She had already fled.

Every possible way of contacting her had been cut off.

When Robert heard the news, his fury only deepened.

“Good. Very good. Go. I don’t care what it costs—bring her back to me.”

“Yes, sir.” Caliste gave a slight bow before quickly leaving the hospital room.

By then, Robert was shaking. Even his hand trembled.

He picked up his phone and called Adrian.

“Hello? Dad, what is it? Calling this late… I was already asleep.”

That lazy, half-awake tone coming through the phone only made Robert’s temper flare higher.

“You’re still in the mood to sleep? Your wife ran off with another man!” Robert spat each word out.

Adrian froze.

“What kind of joke is that? I called her today. She said she was out handling business.”

“You idiot! Didn’t you see the news? It’s all real. They’ve been together for at least three or four years!” Robert snapped.

That jolted Adrian fully awake.

Even so, he refused to believe it.

“How is that possible? Why would she lie to me? How could she dare do something like that?”

“What wouldn’t she dare do?”

Robert’s eyes burned with anger.

“I’m telling you—stop being so stupid, or this is exactly where you’ll end up!” he said before hanging up.

Adrian lay in bed, staring blankly into space.

The hand holding his phone stayed raised for a long time, unmoving.

Truthfully, after all those years of marriage, whatever feelings had once existed between him and Miranda had long since faded.

Their marriage had been a business arrangement from the start.

A few years ago, Adrian himself had spent plenty of time fooling around.

But in his mind, that was his right.

Miranda, however, absolutely could not do the same.

“Miranda… you really dared to cheat on me? Fine. Just wait,” he muttered, each word heavy with anger.

Sleep was no longer an option.

He got out of bed, grabbed his phone, and called the group of useless friends he used to hang around with.

After being humiliated by Nathaniel, Adrian had cut them off completely.

So when his call came through now, every one of them was surprised.

“Adrian? What made you suddenly think of calling us?” one of them asked.

Another laughed. “Don’t tell me this is about that news online. I’m telling you—if you want to survive in this world, you’ve got to learn to tolerate being cheated on. Get used to it.”

Hearing them joke like that, Adrian’s hand tightened into a fist.

“Cut the crap. I’m asking you one thing—can you help me find that cheating pair or not?”

The line went silent.

Adrian didn’t bother with small talk.

“Our family might not be what it used to be, but compared to you, don’t even dream of matching it. Help me find them, and the Rainsworth family will owe you a favor.”

He spoke slowly and clearly, each word firm.

The moment he finished, someone took the bait.

“Adrian, are you serious?” one of them asked.

“Of course I am. Why would I joke about something like this?” Adrian replied, his fist still clenched.

“Alright. With that promise, I’m in.”

“Yeah, we’re all in. We’ve got your back.”

“If it’s about finding people, you came to the right place. We’ll handle it.”

One by one, his old circle gave their word.

Some of them really did have the means—and more than a few shady tricks—to track people down.

Only then did Adrian hang up.

There was no chance he’d be sleeping tonight.

He kept calling Miranda again and again.

Every time, the result was the same—no answer.
