Chapter 2294
“How is that possible? This has to be fake. It has to be fake!” Felix forced the words out.
He refused to believe it.
Miranda loved him. There was no way she would leave him behind.
Seeing he still wouldn’t accept it, his classmates pressed on.
“If you don’t believe it, ask your grandpa or your dad.”
Felix immediately called Robert.
“Grandpa, they’re saying Mom ran off with someone else… and doesn’t want me anymore.”
Robert didn’t hide it.
“Felix, from now on, you’ll have your dad and your grandpa. Don’t think about your mom anymore. We’ll take good care of you.”
Felix might have been young, but he understood.
There was nothing left to misunderstand.
His mother had abandoned him.
Just the day before yesterday, she had been planning to take him with her.
How had everything changed so fast?
Felix stopped caring about school and ran out of the classroom.
He always had bodyguards with him, so no one worried about his safety.
He told them to take him home.
When he got back, he found Adrian sprawled on the couch, reeking of alcohol.
“Dad.”
Felix rushed over and shook him.
“Dad, wake up. Tell me where Mom went!”
Adrian had been sleeping soundly, but the moment he woke, his temper flared.
“Your mom ran off with another man. Stop bothering me. I’m trying to sleep.”
Felix’s eyes instantly turned red.
“You’re lying! Give Mom back to me! Give her back!” he cried.
Adrian ignored him.
Right now, he was waiting for his father to send people to drag Miranda back.
And there was something else.
He planned to take Felix for a paternity test.
At this point, he wasn’t even sure Felix was his son.
At the elder Rainsworth branch, everything was still in chaos.
But over at the second branch—Elena’s side—things were calm.
“When you’re choosing a daughter-in-law, you really should pick someone decent,” Wren said with a sigh.
Elena shot him a look. “This isn’t about being decent. It’s about character. And honestly, if it were me, I wouldn’t stay with Adrian either. A man like him thinks some capable woman is going to prop up his family business? He can keep dreaming.”
She paused, then added,
“That said, I have principles. If I didn’t want to be with someone anymore, I’d say it first. I wouldn’t do something behind their back and explain it later.”
Wren listened, something clearly bothering him.
“So when you divorced me… was it because you already had someone else?” he asked suddenly.
Elena froze.
Then her voice turned cold.
“Don’t judge me by your own standards. I’m not like you.”
That shut him up.
Elena had no interest in continuing the conversation. After reminding the nanny to put the children to bed, she went to rest.
Even though she and Wren were divorced, they hadn’t separated households.
They still lived under the same roof and saw each other every day.
Still, compared to how things had been right after the divorce, they were getting along much better now.
At most, Elena would throw a few sharp remarks his way.
She no longer ignored him completely like before.
A week passed.
Cecilia got news from Elena.
Miranda and Julian had been brought back.
They were being held at Rainsworth Manor.
From what people said, things there were getting intense.
That week, Cecilia deliberately returned to stay at the manor.
That night, Elena turned to her.
“Want to go take a look?”
Cecilia didn’t hesitate.
“Sure. But can we actually watch?”
As she spoke, Nathaniel and Wren—who were sitting nearby—both turned to look at her.
